21.01.2022 Kumon Eastwood is re-opening from August As most of our parents still want their children to stay home until the pandemic situation improves, we are offering the option of taking physical sessions or online via zoom. Due to the social distancing requirement, only 17 students are now allowed in each physical attendance session during which we adopt stringent safety rules including: Mandatory temperature check and hand sanitising upon entry; use of attendance register; 1.5 m se...paration; complete wipe down before, between and after sessions; all staff wearing masks and gloves and using own set of stationery and answer books; any physical contacts forbidden; students using own stationery and quarantine of submitted worksheets for 48 hours before processing. Kumon Centres are still open. However, if schools close to slow the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19, Kumon is ready to go to home-based study until schools reopen. This is to comply with health authority advice and government regulations. Worksheets can be provided from your centre for the duration of the school closures, so your childs learning is not interrupted. Kumon is traditionally a home-based, pencil and paper programme. It is designed for students to study at home every day on their own. It is ideal for extended periods at home. For a short time, every day, no calculator, no keyboard, no screen, no high-speed internet connection necessary. Students take out their worksheets, pick up a pencil, read, think, write, and use an eraser to correct their errors. Kumon Instructors can effectively manage communication with families through a variety of electronic means.

15.01.2022 PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) measures 15-year-olds ability to use their reading, mathematics and science knowledge and skills to meet real-life challenges. First introduced in 2000, it is run once every 3 years the lastest of which was done in 2018. How did Australia fare in this study of students from 79 countries in 2018? Maths - 30th (down from 25th in 2015) Reading - 17th (down from 16th in 2015) Science - 18th (down from 14th in 2015)... China, Singapore and Macau took the top 3 positions in all 3 categories.
