Most states and territories have announced the early conclusion of Term 1 for schools. NSW Term 1 will end as scheduled on 9 April for now. Many Kumon centres have now transitioned their students to home-based learning. For those centres that are still offering physical attendance, strict social distancing measures remain in place, as per the health advice from the Australian Chief Medical Officer. Home-based study is available for any families who do not wish to attend class. Kumon will always comply with the advice of health authorities. Kumon is traditionally a home-based, pencil and paper programme. It is designed for students to study at home every day on their own. It is ideal for extended periods at home. For a short time, every day, no calculator, no keyboard, no screen, no high-speed internet connection necessary. Students take out their worksheets, pick up a pencil, read, think, write, and use an eraser to correct their errors. Kumon Instructors can easily manage communication with families through a variety of electronic means. We hope it is reassuring to know your childs Kumon programme can continue during this period.
