21.01.2022 ELECTIVE SURGERY HAS RECOMMENCED! In keeping with the Federal Government’s recently released guidelines for the recommencement of elective surgery following advice from Australia’s Chief Medical Officer (Professor Brendan Murphy) the State Government and SA Health have provided a pathway for the staged return to operating capacity in South Australia. To ensure the safest possible return to clinical care, while mindfully ensuring adequate stocks of front-line medical supp...lies are preserved, the public and private hospital systems across the state have begun the process of recommencing selected elective surgery cases. Knee and hip replacement surgery (primary and revision) has been included in this first stage of return to operating. To support our patients, while adhering to the guidelines issued by the Federal and State Governments, the team at Kurmis Orthopaedics would like to announce that A/Professor Kurmis has resumed elective surgical operating as clinically indicated. We will continue to offer remote consultations (for new or existing patients) via telehealth (i.e. telephone or video link) and have also recommenced face-to-face consultations. All patients opting for face-to-face consultations will be asked to complete a COVID-19 screening questionnaire prior to their appointment and may also be asked to undertake point-of-care surface temperature testing. Patients who feel unwell, have respiratory symptoms or have had known close contact with active COVID-19 cases are asked to not attend in person. In keeping with current recommendations, a maximum of one (1) nominated person may accompany the patient for a face-to-face appointment and will be asked to undertake the same screening processes as outlined above. To arrange a video or telephone consultation, a face-to-face appointment, or for any other questions relating to the care we can offer, please feel free to contact us directly via (08) 8232 0999 or ( [email protected] ). Please continue to take care of yourselves and your loved ones. The team at Kurmis Orthopaedics

02.01.2022 Announcement: from the team at Kurmis Orthopaedics. In the wake of the COVID-19 global crisis the Federal Government has taken the unprecedented step of suspending ALL elective surgery across Australia, indefinitely. While this drastic measure along with other social distancing and disease transmission prevention strategies is intended to limit the catastrophic spread of the COVID-19 virus and preserve precious medical resources, the impact on those people with end stage ...hip and knee arthritis and for those who had been booked for (or were contemplating) joint replacement surgery is considerable. The team at Kurmis Orthopaedics want to let all of our current and prospective patients know that we are doing everything we safely can to support patients in need. In many instances this has already taken the form of a reinvigorated exploration of non-operative and supportive management options. We are working hard with the available community resources to try and keep patients safe and as functional as we can. For those who will inevitably require joint replacement surgery once the COVID-19 elective surgery restrictions have been lifted, we will continue to work with you to ensure that everything is as ‘ready to go’ as possible for you, so that we can minimise the delay to surgery for you. While the government restrictions and recommendations make face-to-face consultations a challenge in the current setting, we have established both telephone and video call consultation options for both our existing and newly referred patients so we can continue doing our best to offer the highest standard of safe care that we can. To arrange a video or telephone consultation, or for any other questions relating to the care we can offer, please feel free to contact us directly via (08) 8232 0999 or ( [email protected] ). Please continue to take care of yourselves and your loved ones. The team at Kurmis Orthopaedics.
