The touch roller is already diluted to a safe level for most skins. ... Next add 1 or 2 drops of lemon and Ongaurd to a shot of water, and simply gargle for several seconds. 12.01.2022 Wowsers....hysteria has well and truly hit. Panic shopping, food stockpiling...apparently armageddon is here and there is no hand sanitizer left on the shelves.... I'm not going to go into what I think about this situation other than that here in Australia, you've got a greater chance of being killed by a shark. On saying that, hand sanitizer is in hot demand so let's take a look at what's really in the top brands and what we're slathering on our hands. Firstly, for anyone concerned about animal testing (we ALL should be), be sure to check the MSDS sheets as they all seem to test on animals . Dettol sure does so that's an instant 'no thanks' in my books. MSDS here: https://dl2jx7zfbtwvr.cloudfront.net/msds/SOAP0047.pdf Onto the ingredients list. Alcohol is the core active ingredient in most hand sanitizers at around 70% alcohol, this makes them inherently drying to the epidermis and disrupting to the skin microbiome. Limiting the use of alcohol is wise but it's not harmful. Alcohol Denat., Water, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Propylene Glycol, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Tetrahydroxypropyl Ethylenediamine, Aloe Barbadensis Gel, Fragrance, Limonene, CI19140, CI42090. Let's take a deeper look at some of these ingredients shall we? PEGs (polyethylene glycols) are petroleum-based compounds. Depending on the manufacturing processes, PEGs may be contaminated with ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane. The International Agency for Research on Cancer classifies ethylene oxide as a known human carcinogen and 1,4-dioxane as a possible human carcinogen. Ethylene oxide can also harm the nervous system. PEG compounds themselves show evidence of genotoxicity and if used on broken skin can cause irritation and systemic toxicity. Propylene Glycol shouldn't be used by pregnant women or applied to the hands of infants or toddlers as they cannot break down this compound as quickly as an adult can thanks to their immature enzyme pathways. Whilst adverse effects are limited the most concerning issue with PG is that it enhances our exposure to other known toxins providing them a free pass into our bloodstream. The perfect example of this is the handling of BPA infused receipts at cash registers. Just say no. Acrylate Crosspolymer's are not dangerous systemically however prolonged and repeated applications of products containing acrylate crosspolymer may result in dermatitis which really shouldn't surprise anyone when we're talking synthetic based products. Then we have that ubiquitous word 'Fragrance' which is quite possibly the most dangerous ingredient of all given the hundreds of chemicals that make up that word are unknown to us and do not need to be disclosed. Synthetic fragrances are known immunotoxins, respiratory toxins, reproductive toxins and neurotoxins depending on what they are comprised of..... which they won't tell us. Again, anytime you see this word - just say no. Make your own Hand Cleansing Mist instead guys!! It's so bloody easy and the best part is that the ingredients work in harmony with our skin's microbiome. Your Recipe 50ml glass spray bottle 1 tbls witch hazel 1 tbls aloe vera gel (fresh cut from the plant if possible) 1 tbls of fractionated coconut oil 10-15 drops of doTerra's On Guard Blend 10 drops of Tea Tree Top with cooled boiled water (Tea Tree + On Guard together create the most perfect and powerful duo to get down to business on all things funky) Shake before use and spray on your hands.
