25.01.2022 IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A SIGN... Anyone else need some sort of "clean slate" to get started on a new habit. Whether it's healthy eating, exercise, more consistent content marketing, financial stuff - it always feels good to get started on a Monday, or the first of the month. (Or is that just looking for an excuse to put it off?? Either way....) So, today is the next best thing to New Year's Day. Not only is it a Monday, and the 1st of March, but it's also the first day of Autu...mn (in Australia). So no excuses, it's time to get cracking on that thing that you've been putting off. What is it for you??? #womeninbusiness #ladystartup #girlbossesau #lmbdw #businesschicks #mumsinbusinessaustralia #businesswomen #womeninbiz #smallbusinesswomen #brisbanebusinesscoach #brisbanewomeninbusiness #brisbaneentrepreneur #brisbanecreative #brisbanehustlinwomen #brisbanebusiness #brisbanecreatives #brisbanesocialmedia #brisbanemarketing #brisbaneblogger #brisbanebusiness
21.01.2022 Wanna make a business owner's day? Give them a review on one of their Facebook, LinkedIn or Google biz page! When was the last time you took a few moments to leave a review for a business? It might not seem like a big deal, but it's an important endorsement that lets other people know that they can be trusted ... that they're one of the good guys. It only takes a few minutes. It only needs to be a few sentences. But it can have a big impact for a small business owner ...... hell, any business owner. Not sure what to say? Here are a few ideas: * I had this problem, and [name the business] helped me by [describe how they helped] * Describe their customer service and the way they helped you * Describe how their product or service has had an impact on your life * Describe how they (or their product or service) made you feel. So my challenge to you today is to leave a review for a business you've shopped with or worked with lately. It'll put a smile on their face!!
20.01.2022 My office today one of my happy places. I spent this morning teaching a 3 hour social media strategy workshop. On Friday I’m back with the team diving deep into Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. I love sharing my knowledge and passion for social media and marketing - it’s such a fun part of my job!... #socialmediatraining #marketingtraining #marketingcoach #socialmediatrainer #brisbanebusiness #brisbanesmallbusiness #socialmediabrisbane
16.01.2022 We all have "that" friend ... the one who, whenever they ring, has a favour to ask or something they want you to do. The friendship that feels like a one way street. The calls you start to ignore, texts that make you roll your eyes, or social media posts that have you reaching for the "Unfollow" button because it's all about them, all the time. Reality check time!! Are you being "that" business to your customers and potential customers?... Is your marketing all about you, all of the time? If you're providing genuine value and sharing content that educates, entertains or inspires - and if you're truly interested in building relationships - then no, you're not "that" business. If you craft your content with your customer in mind - pulling together posts that help answer their questions or provide solutions to their concerns - then no, you're not "that" business. But if everything you share is sales-y, pushing your product or service, or crammed with calls for them to buy, click, sign-up or do what YOU want them to do, then maybe you are "that" business. Maybe your content is being ignored, blocked or unfollowed. Maybe relationships are being tarnished. While your marketing should definitely be about you some of the time - it should also be about supporting your customers and giving them real value, making their lives easier. #brisbanebusinesscoach #lmbdwbrisbane #brisbanewomeninbusiness #brisbaneentrepreneur #lmbdwbris #brisbanecreative #brisbanebusiness #brisbanecreatives #brisbanesocialmedia #brisbanemarketing #womeninbusiness #ladystartup #girlbossesau #lmbdw #businesschicks #businesscoachforwomen #marketingtips #marketingadvice #contentmarketing #digitalmarketing #marketingcoach #marketingstrategy #digitaladvice #brandstorytelling #contentcreation
14.01.2022 Could you work with your sibling as your coach?? It’s National Sibling Day today and I want to shout out my big brother! He’s an incredible support, a worthy opponent in intellectual (and not-so-intellectual) battles, and my coach! He runs @thestronglifeproject where he coaches on high performance, helping people up level in life. He’s having a big impact for a lot of people! I’m lucky to be one of them.... I also work with him in the marketing of his business. I love that we can use our (very different) skills to support each other. We didn’t always get on this well (he used to tease me so much once I kicked a hole in a door!!)- but I’m so grateful to have him on my side at this stage of my life. So Happy National Sibling Day to all the siblings - big and small!!
13.01.2022 9 lessons from 9 years in business. This week marks the 9th anniversary of launching into my marketing consultancy full-time. And what a 9 years it has been. So I thought I’d jot down 9 lessons for 9 years in business (by no means all-encompassing but the first 9 things that come to mind as I reflect):...Continue reading
08.01.2022 Wanna know a surefire way to quickly lose viewers/listeners from your content? Crap audio!! Whether it’s in your Stories or video posts, your Reels ... and definitely your podcasts. audio quality will get people clicking away faster than you can huh?... People are pretty forgiving of video quality, but if your content is hard to hear, they’ll generally give up and move on. So wherever possible, use a mic or even your earphones/AirPods. Anything that can help you cut out the background noise and focus on on the message you’re trying to get across.
07.01.2022 What would 2025 Kym do? This is an exercise my coach (who also happens to be my brother The Strong Life Project by Shaun O'Gorman ) had me do in the last couple of weeks as I set my goals and vision for how I want my business and life to be in 2025, and then 2030. Such a great exercise - because once I've identified the things I want to create by 2025, it makes it very easy to make choices now, today. Knowing the business I want to have in 2025, it becomes obvious the action...s I need to start taking now. Knowing the health I want to have in 2025, those "treats" now don't seem quite so harmless. And when I feel like slacking off, or taking the easy way out, or doing things the old way ... I just have to remind myself WW2025KD??? (What would 2025 Kym do?) Try it!! It's a great guide!
04.01.2022 Hands up if you love pretty fashion and gorgeous homewares? I so enjoyed working with Megs from Martha's Vineyard Lifestyle Collections on her new website. Every time I uploaded a new product my first thought was "ooh that's cute". Megs has incredible talent at curating amazing pieces. So if you live on the north side of Brisbane you can pop into the Marthas Vineyard Lifestyle Collections shop at Albany Creek, or sit back at home with a cuppa and browse in your PJs.... #brisbanebusiness #brisbanesmallbusiness #brisbanefamilyownedbusiness #brisbaneretailer #retailbrisbane #brisbanefashion #womeninbusiness #creativewomen #brisbanestyle
03.01.2022 Those who know me know how much I love books For as long as I can remember I’ve been a reader - I have to read at night to be able to get to sleep. So it’s always such a pleasure to work with authors (which I’ve had the great fortune of doing a few times over the last few years). The latest was the amazing @indabinda who is not only a talented author and incredible illustrator, but also a surgeon (seriously, is there nothing this lady can’t do??)... We’ve created a website to showcase her many talents (well, not the surgery )- and you can even buy prints of some of her illustrations. Check it out at indabinda.com
02.01.2022 Looking for some new podcasts to binge over the long weekend? Here are some of my favourites from March. As you can see, March was less about business and more about personal development / health / wellbeing for me. I probably listened to about 50 podcasts throughout the month, but these are the episodes that really stood out. (1) The Imperfects with Rick Davies about Living with OCD. Rick Davies played Jimmy in Offspring. In this chat he was incredibly vulnerable and open ab...out his life with OCD, how it shows up and how he manages it. Such an incredible insight. (2) @thestronglifeproject’s daily episodes all contain nuggets of wisdom (or a worthy challenge) but this one stood out for me as Shaun talks about setting (and sticking to) your identity. (Full disclosure: he’s my brother, but also my coach - my challenger and supporter. Don’t just take his little sister’s word - check it out for yourself). (3) @osher_gunsberg’s Better than Yesterday post with Australian sleep scientist Dr Carmel Harrington delved deep into the science of why sleep is important (and all the ways it impacts our health and performance). (4) The Let’s Talk Thyroid podcast with @annabel.bateman.wellness is so useful for people with thyroid challenges, but this particular episode with @justinjanoska was so insightful, encouraging us to look beyond the physical symptoms and causes of autoimmune disease. (5) @liseandsarah’s Forty podcast with Julie Goodwin is a must-listen for anyone who was flirted with (or come face to face with) burnout. (I also really loved their episode with Fiona O'Loughlin (seriously important conversation) and Taryn Brumfitt! (6) The Imperfects podcast with @bencrowe05 was another standout - talking about purpose, self-compassion and connection. (7) Probably my favourite podcast of the month was @drchatterjee’s wide-ranging chat with Gabor Maté about how our childhood experiences inform our lives and the impact that has on addiction. There were many, many more podcasts that I loved in March - but these were my favourites. I’d love to hear your recommendations - are there any standouts that I missed in March?
01.01.2022 When was the last time you updated your website software? If you're a Wordpress user, it's important that you keep your website software, plugins and themes all up-to-date). These are all regularly updated regularly by the developers. Sometimes it's to fix bugs, improve performance or to add new features, but often the updates are to address security risks and fix vulnerabilities. If you ignore these updates, your website is more vulnerable to security breaches - or to glit...ches or breakages as the different components become incompatible. How do you know when there are Updates needing to be actioned? When you log into your Wordpress admin, on the top left under Dashboard you will see the Updates subheading. If updates are needed, there will be a red circle with a number inside - representing the number of updates needed. But for many business owners, you might not log into your Wordpress regularly - so I suggest scheduling a check of your Updates in your calendar at least once a month. Not sure how to do the Updates? You can check out my website for details: https://kymogorman.com.au/wordpress-updates/ Any questions, please shout out - I'd be so happy to help.
