20.01.2022 FRIDAY'S FUN FACTS! 1. Levi’s jeans are one of the most popular brands of jeans. The first pair sold for $6 worth of gold dust back in 1853! 2. The T-shirt is one of the most popular items of clothing in the world, and around two billion of them are sold every single year.... 3. Doc Martens come in all different colours and sizes now, but the first pair was created using old tires. 4. Women were only allowed to wear shorts in public after World War II. One of the main reasons for this was because less fabric was available during the war, so shorts were more cost-effective than pants or skirts. 5. Australian’s are the world’s second-largest consumers of fashion. On average, they consume 27kgs of new clothing and textiles every year. On a global scheme, we now consume about 80 billion new pieces of clothing every year. This is 400% more than we were consuming just two decades ago! Fast fashion probably helped with that. 6. Louis Vuitton opened its first store in 1854, but his big break was given by Napoleon’s Bonaparte’s wife, Empress Eugene de Montijo of France. He was her box maker. 7. An unlikely person to be associated with the fashion world, Napoleon invented the buttons for sleeves after his soldiers kept wiping their noses on their button-free clothes. 8. In 1892 Louis Vuitton began making handbags. This is the product that made Louis Vuitton as a brand REALLY famous. 9. There is a rumour that the company Louis Vuitton burns any old stock to keep a tight hold on its exclusivity. This is why Louis Vuitton products are never on discount, and no wonder Louis Vuitton handbags are waterproof and fireproof! 10. In the 1950s, the average American household spent 11.5% of their income on clothing. Nowadays, Americans use around 3.5% of their income for clothes.

05.01.2022 Is it time for a good clear out? I bet for most of you, the answer is YES!!! A lot of emotions are put away in our wardrobes that we just aren’t quite ready to deal with yet. A few years ago my husband purchased a Wardrobe Edit for me with a local Stylist. It was invigorating to say the least. There were a lot of empty hangers and piles of clothes on the floor when we had finished.... The next day when I went to choose some clothes to wear, I opened the doors and it felt like a whole weight had been lifted off my shoulders, I felt great and it wasn’t difficult to choose what to wear. Too many of us buy clothes because they’re on sale, or we’re waiting to loose weight, or we’re saving it just because. Take the stress out of choosing what to wear by decluttering your wardrobe. 04.01.2022 Kerry’s Style Sessions held another amazing Your Time to Shine event at her studio, raising funds for the charity OzHarvest. There was lots of laughter by our guest speaker Jeevi The Laughing Chef. We were treated to his tasty raw vegan delights and learnt how laughter is great therapy for the mind, body and soul. Our guests also picked up some great tips about fashion, nutrition and collagen.... Watch this space for our next event.
