25.01.2022 Hi All Welcome back to our new term. We ran out of time to record our assembly last Friday so here it is on a Monday. https://safeYouTube.net/w/4ZjO

25.01.2022 At Kyneton Primary School we believe our children are entitled to a high quality education that is respectful of, and responsive to, their existing competencies, cultural heritage and histories. We want our children to learn to their full potential in an inspiring, challenging and supportive environment. Our families are entitled to be confident that their children will have access to an education that promotes equity and excellence whilst attending to the wellbeing of all ch...ildren. We hope you find the link below to the recording of a Prep Information session useful in finding out more about what our school has to offer, as you make the very important decision in choosing the right school to suit the individual needs of your child. If you choose KPS, we will then look forward to continuing a transition program for your family as COVID-19 restrictions are relaxed across the state. https://safeYouTube.net/w/3JwT Warm regards, Alistair Rayner Principal

23.01.2022 Dear KPS Community The Victorian Government announced that Victoria moved to the Last Step of the roadmap for reopening from 11:59pm, Sunday 22 November 2020. As a result of the changes announced, some important updates have been made to school operations. These changes are detailed in a new Term 4 Operations guide that the school received on Thursday morning. The school is currently giving careful consideration about what onsite restrictions it will adopt for the last 3 week...s of the school year and is awaiting further DET resources to support any changes. We will be back in communication with the school community on Monday 30 November. Until then all current restrictions will remain in place. Kind regards, Alistair Rayner Principal

22.01.2022 Return to onsite learning at KPS in Term 4. Dear parents and carers, Thank you for all of your support during the Term 3 period of remote and flexible learning.... The Victorian Government has advised that students enrolled in Prep to Grade 6 in standalone primary schools will return to on-site learning from Monday 5 October. Schools have the flexibility to stagger the return of year levels between Monday 5 October and Friday 9 October, depending on local circumstances. At KPS Monday 5 October will be a student free day for all with no onsite learning available. We will then welcome back all year levels for onsite learning on Tuesday 6 October. Further communication from DET is expected this evening with guidelines about student attendance onsite. I will hopefully be able to communicate these to you some time tomorrow if not during the school holiday period. Alistair Rayner Principal

21.01.2022 School open tomorrow! Dear KPS Community It was wonderful to hear the announcement this morning from the Premier that schools will be reopening from tomorrow. We can't wait to welcome our children back onsite for face-to-face teaching and learning. ... At this stage, we will be opening with the guidelines and restrictions we had in place when we were forced into lockdown last Friday. We expect an updated DET Operations guide to arrive shortly and when this occurs I will communicate with you again.

19.01.2022 Talking to your child about COVID-19 Dear KPS Community Information that might be of assistance to you in talking to your child about COVID-19 is available at:... https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/talking-your-child-about If you are concerned about your wellbeing or that of your child, please contact the school so we can talk with you about how we can best assist. Classroom teachers can make themselves available for individual telephone calls or Zoom meetings with children. Other sources of support include Parent Line 13 22 89 and Kids Helpline 1800 55 1800.

19.01.2022 Risky Road Safety Behaviours at KPS Dear KPS Community It has been so wonderful welcoming our children back to face to face teaching over the last week and a half. We have all appreciated the positive and energised way the children have returned to learning in their classrooms and the friendly chat with community members at the school gates.... Despite the upbeat beginning to Term 4 I have been informed of and witnessed some concerning, risky road safety behaviours on Edgecombe St and surrounding side streets. I would like to request you pay particular attention to the following road safety behaviours. 1. Please do not allow younger children to race ahead of you whilst walking to school or home, as I have been contacted by community members describing near misses as children forget to stop at the curb before crossing roads. 2. Please always use the designated school crossings when walking your children across Edgecombe St. A trending risky adult behaviour seems to have emerged this term which, involves community members parking on the east side of Edgecombe St and then whilst holding children’s hands, weaving their way through stationary and oncoming traffic to cross the road. Whilst I am not able to enforce road safety behaviours, I can request that adults in our community act as positive role models for our children and follow these simple requests. I would much prefer children arrive at school or get home three minutes late than have to manage and experience the long-lasting effects of a road trauma incident out the front of our school. I wonder what it will take for people to understand and take notice of the common-sense rules around road safety involving children! Alistair Rayner Principal

19.01.2022 KPS Assembly 13/11 Dear KPS Please enjoy viewing our assembly for this week as we learn more about NAIDOC week, congratulate award winners and welcome a new Superhero.... https://youtu.be/GPGYbQ7cZ4c

18.01.2022 Dear parents and carers, There are two helpful new resources to help you support your children during remote and flexible learning. Raising Learners podcast The Department of Education and Training has funded a 10-episode podcast series through the Raising Children Network called ‘Raising Learners’. It features parenting experts from organisations including the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, Career Education Association Victoria, as well as the Australian eSafety Comm...issioner, Julie Inman-Grant. Raising Learners provides parents with practical advice, tips and ideas for supporting children’s health, wellbeing and engagement at school and at home. Topics include how to connect with your child’s school and community, how to best support your child’s learning, what to expect for VCE and VCAL students and how to keep your child safe online. These topics were drawn from common questions that parents raised with the Department’s coronavirus (COVID-19) hotline and Parentline. The first three episodes will be available on 1 September, and the rest throughout terms 3 and 4. Raising Learners can be accessed via podcast apps and Raising Children Network website. Managing the Coronacoaster webinar Renowned child psychologist Dr Michael Carr-Gregg is back by popular demand to repeat his Coronacoaster webinar. 01.01.2022 Works at the school as KPS grows in 2021 Dear KPS Community The happenings on the Mobok side of the grounds are the preparation electrical works for the delivery of our new relocatable that we require in 2021 for the additional class we will be putting on as a result of increasing enrolments and us meeting our capacity of 351 students. The delivery of the actual building will be in the coming weeks.... Unfortunately, that means the P-2 playground is out of operation until the works are done which, is usually 3 weeks after the delivery of the building. This is a small sacrifice to make during this exciting time of growth. Our P-2 children are encouraged to bring in some extra named items to play with during this time but please nothing electronic, items that may be dear to their heart or expensive
