25.01.2022 Have your say on the Asbestos Awareness Campaign run by Kyogle Council in association with North East Waste to win a $150 to spend at your local hardware store. Over the past 12 months, Kyogle Council has participated in a media campaign to raise awareness of illegally dumped asbestos. Ads were developed for TV, radio, local papers and Council newsletters with the assistance of NE Waste. Illegally dumped asbestos places a significant environmental and financial cost on the... Council. Private contractors often need to be engaged to do the clean up because of the potentially dangerous health risks associated with asbestos. Tash Morton, Illegal Dumping Coordinator with NE waste said that in the past 12 months local Councils had cleaned up 15 loads of illegally dumped asbestos at an estimated cost of $30 000. Your feedback is helpful for us in developing future campaigns on illegal dumping. Complete the survey before 31 July at http://www.illegaldumping.com.au/survey.html to go in the draw to win. This program has been funded with the support of the NSW EPA Waste Less, Recycle More initiative funded from the waste levy. See more
24.01.2022 Second Hand Saturday, the biggest day of garage sales on the North Coast, will be held on Saturday, 26 September this year, and Kyogle Council is once again involved. Registrations to hold a garage sale are now open at secondhandsaturday.com.au, giving people plenty of time to spring clean for their garage sale. Each household registering will have their garage sale address listed for free in their local paper and online on the Second Hand Saturday website, which will have a ...map and search engine available for shoppers. The Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/mysecondhandsaturday) also gives people the opportunity to post questions and share valuable garage sale advice, as well as promote goodies for sale on the day. Coordinated by North East Waste and member Northern Rivers Councils, the aim of the event is to promote the reuse of goods and materials instead of disposal - saving resources and our local environment. For more information, go to the Second Hand Saturday website www.secondhandsaturday.com.au, sign up to the Facebook page or contact Council. See more

23.01.2022 Good news! The six-month-old tan and white Beagle cross female dog that was handed in to Council last Friday has been reunited with her owners. She was released to her owners yesterday after she was microchipped and registered. Under the NSW Companion Animals Act, breeders must microchip their puppies and kittens before selling them and all dog and cat owners must register their pets by the time they are six months of age.
