23.01.2022 Well, well, here we are again. We will be closed from Thursday the 9th, so you will be able to get one last climb in tomorrow. To all members, old and new, you know the drill. Rest assured knowing that your memberships will be suspended immediately at no cost, including the 2 weeks free that were given. ... We are so deeply sorry for the chopping and changing as of late, yet we are so grateful to know that we have such loyal and loving members who are willing to support us at the drop of a hat, uncertain times notwithstanding Be seeing you all soon, Much love from the team

21.01.2022 Hi everyone, in case you missed out on the insta video from last week! Over the last few months, we've had times where we've been exceedingly lazy, and that's okay. However, we've also had some motivation to make a positive change in the way we do business from here on out, and we're pretty proud of what we've done so far.... RCXMEDIA https://www.rcxmedia.com/ helps us tell this story, featuring Maker Coffee Melbourne and The 2nd Life Project We will see you all very soon

21.01.2022 Hey team, apologies but we will be closed due to it being a seriously hot boi tomorrow Make sure you stop, drop and roll if you spontaneously combust in the heat

20.01.2022 Merry Christmas and a happy new year everyone Here are our hours over coming few weeks Stay safe and enjoy your holidays! Thanks for climbing with us, we are so grateful to have you all here every day From Des, Les, James, Chris, Ana, Ange, Marcus, Jono, and Andy

20.01.2022 Exciting news everyone: next Monday the 9th, we’ll be open! (with caveats) Please make sure you read this carefully to ensure a smooth process when coming back to climb. So you’re wondering who can actually climb? - Strictly existing MEMBERS & MULTIPASS HOLDERS ONLY for the time being, we’ll be looking to allow casual visitors and first timers as restrictions ease further. - We will NOT be accepting/inducting any new climbers for now. - Bookings can be made up to a week in ...advance (which means the first 3 days are already available!). - If you are not a member or multipass holder but you have been to La Roca before, you can start a new membership or buy a new multipass. - If you are currently a 5 or 10 pass holder, you can convert your remaining balance and upgrade to an upfront membership. We will sort it out when you arrive. Great, now if you’re reading this part, that means you’ve read the above and said SWEET!. This next point is for the existing members: We will restart your individual direct debits or your upfront memberships when you arrive starting on your first day back! You will not have lost any time whatsoever on your memberships. To all the multipass holders: Our passes never expire so feel free to take your time with using them. Okay now, down to the nitty gritty about how to actually book and what sessions will look like: - Download the Mindbody app on your phones and search for La Roca Boulders (HOT TIP: make sure your location is in Oakleigh South), easy! - Hours will be 11:30am-9:45pm on weekdays and 10:00am to 6:45pm on weekends for now. - Masks are to be worn at all times. - Sessions will be 90 minutes long and limited to 10 climbers. - No spectators and no doggies allowed for now. - There will be a 15 min gap at the end of each session to allow staff to clean up and prepare for the start of the next session. - Only one session allowed per day, and please be cognisant of others and avoid booking more than 3 days a week, your tendons won’t be happy with you. - Liquid chalk will be mandatory for now (we will have some for sale). Any other queries, please email us at [email protected] We know this is a lot, but please try to read carefully and hopefully we will all see you soon.

18.01.2022 To all our beloved climbers and coffee lovers La Roca will be doing our best to minimise the spread of COVID-19 by taking extra precautions with gym, café and bathroom sanitisation. We ask everyone to pay close attention to their own health and do the right thing by cooperating with these rules: 1. Wash your hands with soap and hand sanitiser thoroughly before, during and after your session.... 2. Strictly no climbing if you have any cold and flu-like symptoms. Even if you feel tired or rundown please refrain from visiting La Roca. 3. If you live or work with the elderly or anyone who suffers from a serious chronic medical condition (heart disease, lung disease or diabetes etc) please refrain from visiting La Roca. 4. In accordance with the department of health please self isolate for 14 days if you have travelled overseas and/or come into contact with anyone who is unwell. 5. MOST IMPORTANTLY, if you have received confirmation that you or a close family member has tested positive for the virus, you must immediately notify us. To all our existing members and those looking to climb for the first time: 1. We will no longer be doing inductions for any new climbers two-hours before our close time NO EXCEPTIONS. This time will be dedicated for staff to sanitise the facility. 2. Normal suspension rules apply please contact us via email if you need to suspend your membership. 3. If you are bringing a friend in to climb, please ensure they are aware of our rule changes. We will keep you up to date with any changes to the policy. La Roca Team

16.01.2022 Hello all! We will be back on the 9th of November with a full gym reset, as long as everything holds up between now and then! But of course, there will still be some restrictions when we do open more details to come in the next few days as the picture becomes clearer ... Stay tuned fam

16.01.2022 Good news!! From today onwards we are taking new climbers again, and bookings are only required on weekday evenings from 5:30pm and on weekends (i.e. peak periods) to guarantee a spot Any new climbers looking to book should use the Mindbody app to create a profile and find a session that suits them!... We know we’ve been chopping and changing every week so we really do appreciate everyone’s patience while we approach a steady state and find a protocol that works for everyone! Thanks and see you soon :)

16.01.2022 GYM UPDATE: For the remainder of this week: - Returning customers only (no inductions yet sorry!). - Members and multipass only.... - Session times have increased from 90mins to 1hour & 45 mins. - Climber limits have increased from 20 to 35. - Double sessions available. This will only be allowed if there is enough space in the next session to accommodate everyone that wants to double down. Please speak to us towards the end of your session for a potential double sesh. - Members may now use their monthly freebie for a climber who has been to La Roca before, both will still need to book. Y'all getting stronger and the endurance is creeping back!! We have responded to the feedback for longer sessions yet still keeping the patron cap. No more queuing up to climb! Starting next Monday the 30th: - The day will be split into three long sessions: WEEKDAYS: 11:30 to 14:30 /// 14:30 to 17:30 /// 17:30 to 21:30 WEEKENDS: 10:00 to 13:00 /// 13:00 to 16:00 /// 16:00 to 19:00 - Book into a session and come anytime during that time block. - Must leave by the session cutoff time. If our session times dont exactly align with your work schedule, come and chat to us - common sense applies. - Returning customers only (no inductions yet sorry!). - We will accept casual visits. - Patron cap of 35 in each session. - Walk-ins are available if you are feeling spontaneous (to avoid disappointment please book ahead). - Options for double session, but probably not in the evenings as it's peak hour (same rules as above). ___________________________________ FAQ: When will you start allowing new members? Probably never... jokes! We want to ensure that there's ample spots for our members and multipass holders. They have supported us tremendously during the shutdown and this is our way of returning the favour. When we get more wriggle room with our patron cap we will look to start inductions again. Please DM if you have any other questions!

16.01.2022 Hey everyone, it’s gonna be hot AF on Friday, so we’re closed for the first half of the day We’ll be open in the evening from 5:30-10pm once it gets a bit cooler! Stay hydrated everyone

15.01.2022 Yes, you’ve read correctly! Existing 5 or 10 pass holders may now book in 90 minute sessions via the Mindbody app. Any returning customer can also buy a multipass, however we will not be inducting any new climbers, or allowing any single day entries. Also, in light of the new postcode specific restrictions, we will not be accepting those residents who are living in the affected suburbs.... Thanks for the understanding, safe climbing everyone

14.01.2022 Hello all. See you on the other side. Yours truly, ... La Roca Crew

14.01.2022 See you in a few days everyone!

12.01.2022 Hey gang! Here’s a head’s up for our hours over the christmas period. No doubt about it, the year has flown by, and maybe you’ve been seeing 2020 as the year where you missed out on a lot of things (maybe your new year’s resolution didn’t exactly go to plan). We prefer to see it as the year where you gained wisdom and learned a lot about yourself. We hope you’ve broadened your horizons in different areas of life, either out of boredom or maybe just sheer desperation. You prob...ably over proofed a sourdough, and you also probably hurt yourself in a DIY accident. The point is we’ve all learned something. Even when the chips were down we went all in anyway and there was a certain payoff at the end, even if it wasn’t the one we were hoping for. We hope you can see that. At this point you’re wondering what right a bouldering gym has in trying to offer a half-arsed and reductive attempt at profound insight into a massively complex once-in-a-generation issue, and it’s at this point where we just shut up and just say; Merry Christmas and have a great new year Les, Des, D-James, Chris, Loz, Marcus, Ange, Ana, Jono the robot, Paddy, Rob and Andy 2018 soft opening, when social distancing wasn’t a thing

12.01.2022 Hey everyone, As we have all seen lately, the trail that COVID-19 blazed through our community has left us all in a very uncertain time. We are grateful thus far to not have any confirmed cases of a climber at La Roca contracting the virus. However, this may all very well change in just a matter of days. Our lucky streak might have a chance to continue if we act fast. By exercising a surplus of caution now, we can save our future selves from the retrospective regret of not ha...ving done enough when we should have. We feel the responsibility to do what we feel is the right thing. So, after careful consideration, we have decided to close until April 6th to promote greater social distancing for everybody’s health and safety, effective tomorrow, Friday March 20th. We will re-assess the situation after this short period, whereafter we may be open on a limited basis. This time will also allow the team to completely clean and sanitise the facility from top to bottom, and for any potentially hazardous particles (should they exist on our walls) to pass on, as they typically don’t survive more than 9 days maximum. - To our direct debit members, rest assured that your memberships have been paused indefinitely, no strings attached. We will notify through these social pipes when we return and will un-suspend them when we re-open. - To upfront members, we thank you for support. In addition to extending your memberships by the length of the close, an additional 1 week will be added to your membership upon our return to normal operations! - To 5 and 10 pass holders; we remind you that they will never expire - Any questions regarding membership, please email us at [email protected] We thank you all for your patience in the meantime, and if you’re worried about us; don’t fret because we’ll be fine We will be here on the other side to give proper fist bumps (none this elbow bump business); to serve you delicious coffees; and to crack a joke when it all blows over! To health and prosperity, now more than ever, The La Roca team

05.01.2022 Hey all, To begin, we hope everyone is well and safe, and most importantly staying sane while staying home and doing your part to slow the spread. As you can see, we’ve been really, really, ridiculously productive. We hope you miss us as much as we are missing all of you! Secondly, to update you all with our situation; looks like these restrictions are here to stay for now... We’ll be closed for a while and honestly we don’t know when we’ll be open again. We’re sorry we can’t... tell you more, but we’ll keep everyone updated and let you all know when we’re back, when it is responsible to do so. If there’s one thing we can guarantee though; it’s that we will be back. It’ll take more than some flooding and a pandemic to stop us from opening again One last aside to our loyal members, we promise we will make it up to you as soon as we are able to. We would never have made it here without your collective support; we thank you. See you all soon, and stay safe until then!

05.01.2022 Too much labour; everyone relax and enjoy the long weekend! This includes us; we’re open 10am to 6pm on Monday the 9th
