25.01.2022 Hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year. The weather in Brisbane has been average of late, so the fishing opportunities for me had been limited but I managed to shoot out the other day to chase a Mackerel. Was caught floating a live bait over a school of fish located on the Humminbird Helix 12 holding in about 35 ft of water. Wasnt a bad way to blood my new 6-15lb Venom Spin paired with a Daiwa Freams 3000. Also the first fish caught wearing my new Eclispe model f...rom Ugly Fish Sunglasses. 23.01.2022 What an awesome start to my annual trip to Hinchinbrook! Managed a few nice fish on the Zerek Australia 69mm Tango Shads and the Venom Rods PE 2-4 Crankbait and 8kg Baitcaster. The Daiwa Australia Tatula HD 200 and Coastal TWS stopped them in their tracks. Z-Man Lures Australia 3" Minnowz and Scented Crabz also accounted for a couple of nice cod and trevally. 23.01.2022 Caught this nice Jewie this morning 1st throw into a school of prawns. Fishing was pretty frustrating after that as I missed 4 big fish consecutively. 23.01.2022 The bird soared high last weekend! The pics were taken aboard Moreton island Fishing Charters where I recently was doing some work as a decky. We had a cracker of a day, boating 56 fish including a few quality snapper. Early I managed a nice snapper on a plastic, fished over a Wilson 10-20lb Snapper spin. The Venom PE2-5 7ft overhead was truly a treat to floatline with, I also was running an 8-15kg 7ft Live Fibre overhead when fishing some shallower ground. The rig is quite ...simple, just a gang of 2 Mustad 7766 and whichever sinker that is just light enough to get to the bottom. When we went deeper I switched to a bottom bashing rig, consisting of a 6/0 octopus hook on the bottom, and a gang of 2 5/0 7766 hooks on the top loop. When fishing deeper I prefer using a shorter rod, so I switched to a Live Fibre 15-24 kg short stroker. The weather is looking sweet tomorrow, so go and capitalise on it and catch a few fish! 21.01.2022 First day of the catch and release category in the King of the Pin competition was pretty good. Lures of the day were Zerek Australia Tango Shads and Trail Weavers. Plastics that worked well were the Z-Man Lures Australia 2.5" Grubz rigged on TT Lures 1/12 no.2 jigheads. Fish were caught on Wilson Fishing Magnum 3-8lb rod and Daiwa Australia Freams 2004. 20.01.2022 Terribly sorry for the inactivity! The weather in Brisbane has been shocking as of late, but I have managed a couple of sessions on a few different fish including Bass, Threadys and Mackerel. All my bass have been caught throwing plastics, hardbodies and vibes on the Wilson 6-15lb venom spin and 4kg Territory Barra baitcaster rods. A bit over kill some may say but when they are in fast flowing Rapids or a creek filled with rocks and trees it certainly helps to pull them out.... My thready was a PB, coming in at 95cm. It was caught by slow hopping a Zman 3" Minnow rigged on a TT 1/2 ounce 5/0 headlockz Jighead. What a fight it was on a 6-12lb rod and the little 3000 Stradic. The mackerel was caught as by catch targeting bigger Spanish that unfortunately eluded us for the day. The fish took a liking to a slowly trolled live bait and was hooked in the tail which made for an interesting fight! Was a bit of fun on 8kg line. We caught countless mini Tuna casting plastics into bust ups to occupy ourselves while trolling. 19.01.2022 Had an cool session recently, landing 2 small Mulloway coming in at 74 and 61cm. The larger fish was 1st cast using my new Venom Rods PE 2-4 Crankbait baitcast and Daiwa Australia Coastal 200 TWS. It was cool to finally get one on a hardbody, the second fish smashed a Z-Man Lures Australia 3" Minnowz fished over a Wilson Fishing Blade n Tails 2-4 kg and Daiwa Ballistic EX 2500. 16.01.2022 Couple photos from a few recent sessions down the river. Hopping Zerek Fishtraps have been quite a productive way of fishing. All fish have come on Venom Baitcasters and Spin Rods. I personally have been using the 6kg BC and the Pe 2-4 Crankbait models while the old boy has been running the 12-30lb Spin. 12.01.2022 Wow it's been a while! Time to break this inactivity with a few photos from recent times Turkey beach was an awesome trip with many fish caught over 2 days at the reef. Wilson Live Fibre M10 was an absolute animal of a rod, pulling many fish from their coral edges. The 15-40lb Magnum Spin was also a good rod for fishing smaller baits, micro jigs and plastics for Red Throat Emperor, Venus Tusk Fish and Grass Sweetlip. Mustad Big Guns, Octopus and 7766 were all top hooks for ca...tching these reefies. A couple big Grassies, Red Throat and undersized Reds went back with tags too, so it will be interesting to see where they turn up. Also been chasing a few Jewies too lately, been eating the Infish-lures Predator Prawns as well as the classic jerk bait fished over Venom spin and baitcasters All this and a random Cobia haha. Recently I had an awesome day deckying on Moreton Island Fishing Charters, managing a couple of drops I landed a nice Squire Floatlining as well as a few Pearlies bottom bashing. 11.01.2022 Had a wicked day on Saturday chasing Bass. Myself and partner for the day Liam ended up tagging 75 of them. Lures of the day were Zerek Australia Step Slider micro jigs, Zerek Fish Traps and Z-Man Lures Australia Slim Swimz rigged on TT Lures Demonz jig heads. Fish were caught on Wilson Fishing 6-12 lb Rack Attack paired with a Daiwa Australia Ballistic EX 2500 as well as Wilson 4kg Territory Barra and Daiwa Aird baitcast. The Humminbird Australia & New Zealand Helix 7 was a vital tool for the day using side and down imaging to locate the fish. It was good to finally put a few bass in my Sea Jay Boats 370 Creekmasta. 08.01.2022 Some photos of the last week at Hinchy! Been having too much fun to post anything. I have fallen in love with skip casting Z-Man Lures Australia 4" Pop Frogz into heavy structure and watching Jacks charge out after them. The average size of the Jacks has been around 38-42cm. 05.01.2022 Had a fantastic couple of days over camping on Moreton Island (of course doing some fishing as well) Managed to get on board a new Sea Jay 550 Velocity and put a couple of fish under its belt, including a nice little Kingfish taken while Beacon Bashing. Venom 12-30lb Spin & Daiwa Ballistic 4000 guided him away from the structure with ease. He ate a Z-Man 5" Streaks burning across the surface, and the strike was pretty cool. Also managed a nice little mackerel caught on a 3-...8lb Wilson Magnum Spin, which unfortunately was bleeding badly so couldnt be released. None went to waste, with the leftovers being fed to dolphins out the front of our campsite. Cant wait for the next trip! 03.01.2022 After having a sore back and neck for a few days today was all the therapy that I needed! Bit of a slow start to the day, only catching a few Squire and Pearlies around the 40cm mark but when the wind backed off this afternoon the bigger fish came on the bite. Its definitely difficult work winding them up from 200 feet when your back is aching. It was a good day overall, managing my PB 80cm Snapper on a Z-Man Lures Australia 5" Scented Jerkshadz and a TT Lures 1oz 5/0 Headlo...ckz HD. 02.01.2022 Had a good long weekend recently. Chased a heap of different species and had some good results. Went live baiting on Saturday afternoon and caught my PB Threadfin Salmon and a nice Mulloway as well as some Flathead and Bream. All were tagged and released. On Monday chasing Jew on vibes and Bream on surface was on the cards. 1 Jew was caught and then a few Bream then I was invited to chase a Tuna with a good mate. After about an hour of catching little School Mackerel a few Lo...ngtail Tuna came to the surface and one decided to engulf my Z-Man Lures Australia 3" Minnowz. I definitely brought a knife to a gun fight considering that this fish was easily over 20kg and I was using a 6-12 lb rod and a 3000 reel. 4.5 hours later the fish was boat side and almost defeated, it took one last dive and got sharked.
