24.01.2022 Are you new to Mountain Biking, or are your MTB skills a little rusty, and a practice run is in order before you tackle the Lake Leschenaultia trails? As you can see from this MTB Guidebook video, the Pump Track at the Lake is a great way to warm up before your ride. It's also a fun and easy way for beginners to learn MTB skills in a continuous loop of round bumps and banked turns. To get there, just turn right at the lake entrance and the track is conveniently located to your left.

This includes the lake, kiosk, MTB trails, canoe hire and public toilets. This closure will not affect the campgrounds unless the fire danger rating moves to ‘Extreme’ or ‘Catastrophic’. Please keep an eye on the BOM’s website, searching down the table to find the Lower West Inland district, as this web page provides a four-day forecast (which is updated daily): https://bit.ly/3pcQnhy Last week Shire of Mundaring advised that from 18 December 2020, public access to Lake Leschenaultia would be assessed on a regular basis to align with fire danger ratings and to help keep visitors, campers and staff at the lake safe during the bushfire season. Based on recent experience and due to the popularity of the lake it is expected that on days of high temperature, visitor numbers to the lake will be high. If a bushfire starts during the Severe fire danger rating conditions it will be unpredictable, move very fast and be difficult for firefighters to bring under control. With large numbers of visitors at the lake during a Severe fire danger rating day, and if a bushfire starts in the area, the necessary and safe evacuation of every patron, camper and staff member would be put at an unacceptable risk.

The South West Land Division is predicted to be impacted by fresh and gusty winds from Saturday morning onwards. ... Given the current conditions, this means that the predicted Fire Danger Rating for Monday 12 April is currently Severe. Please be advised that the Shire is implementing a ban on all open fires from Saturday 10 April midday until midnight Sunday 11 April, inclusive. Activities prohibited during the ban: The lighting of any flame in the open air Any activity that requires the lighting or sustaining of a flame in the open air including but not limited to, above or below ground fire pits, bonfires, incinerators, camping or cooking fires.
