22.01.2022 Today marks the official end to the most devastating bush fire season in the state’s history. Firefighters have responded to more than 11,400 bush and grass fires that have burnt more than 5.5 million hectares, the equivalent of 6.2% of the state. 2,448 homes were destroyed however more than 14,400 were saved. Most tragically 25 lives were lost including those of three NSW RFS volunteers and 3 US aerial firefighters.... The response of emergency services and the community over these months has been nothing short of amazing.

21.01.2022 Heads up Lake Munmorah and Chain Valley Bay, Santa is on his way and will touchdown on Saturday the 19th of December. To keep Santa and his elves safe, this year’s Santa run will be a little different than usual with Santa and his Elves remaining in the trucks during the run and to keep everyone safe we ask that you remain off the road and keep an eye on smaller children. Unfortunately, due to delays in Santa obtaining permission to enter NSW and his helpers needing to main...tain social distancing, we cannot take him though Budgewoi or our local retirement villages this year. But he plans to be back next year! And although we ordinarily appreciate donations on our Santa runs, this year we will not be collecting donations. Thank you for your understanding!
17.01.2022 It is the end of an era at the NSW Rural Fire Service today. After more than 30 years in the Service, and after more than 12 years as Commissioner, Shane Fitzsimmons leaves the organisation today. He's taking up a new role within NSW Government as the Commissioner of Resilience NSW and as Deputy Secretary of Emergency Management. Shane has seen us, and the community, through some of the toughest of conditions and experiences during this time.... We say farewell and 'thank you'.
17.01.2022 Heads up coasties!

16.01.2022 It is with great sadness that we write this post. Anne Jackson became one of the first female RFS captains in 1989, at Lake Munmorah Brigade. She held the position for several years, serving in the RFS for 40 years in total. She was also a member at Mannering Park RFS and Parkes HQ RFS and unfortunately Anne passed away on Sunday. Our thoughts are with her family during this difficult time. RIP Anne xx
14.01.2022 You may notice smoke settling around the Lake Munmorah area today. We believe this is from a fire near Forster which under North East winds is directing smoke to our area. This may continue for some time.

We will be departing our station at approximately 8:30am and will be heading to Chain Valley Bay South first. If you see Santa take a photo and place it on our facebook page so people know where we are.
