22.01.2022 Updated Weather Outlook - heavy rains expected The Bureau of Meteorology have released the seasonal outlook which includes a high chance of a La Niña event. That means a high chance of significantly above average rainfall, especially late September and October. The last time this occurred was in 2010-11 which resulted in significant flooding Now is a great time to start preparing your property. Remember to you can leave your property during an emergency or if directe...d to by emergency services. If you have memories or pictures of the 2010-11 floods we would love to hear about it, share them here

22.01.2022 Strong gusts across the state have caused havoc this evening with over 1400 calls mostly for building damage and traffic hazards. Luckily we only have a few reports of damage in our area. If you need to be on the road keep an eye out for trees and other debris.

22.01.2022 This shows the sort of destruction SES members are dealing with in Belgrave. A crew from the Melton unit will be heading to the area to assist.

21.01.2022 How does the SES deal with flooding? Training this week for our members was brushing up on flood diversion skills. Members had to quickly construct a small scale water holding area out of sand bags. They then had to pump water into a nearby swale drain using plastic tarps. This technique is one of many the SES use and can be scaled up for larger emergencies to protect life and assets

19.01.2022 There is a lot of flooding around at the moment. Remember to never drive into floodwaters even if there's no road closure signage.

19.01.2022 If you think we're had a lot of weather warnings lately you'd be right, it's been a crazy season! Strong winds with gusts up to 90km/h will impact our area late morning, moving to the east. Avoid being under trees, secure loose items and watch out for debris on the road.

19.01.2022 A severe weather warning for STRONG WINDS has been issued which includes the Melton district. It's expected to hit our area Saturday night and through to Sunday. It is fast moving and will bring strong gusts. Secure loose items and avoid parking under trees. 15.01.2022 The Weather Channel has made this amazing simulation of what it's like to be trapped in a flash flood Did you know water flowing at 16km/h has about the same force as wind blowing at over 400km/h! Remember to never enter flood waters

15.01.2022 It feels a like groundhog day with all the weather warnings recently, we can't catch a break! We're expecting strong winds to hit the Melton district from Sunday night and stick around until Tuesday. Secure loose items around the house and if you have to be on the road, be aware of debris and potential trees down.

14.01.2022 Significant changes to gathering limits and mask rules have just been announced. Click on the Victorian DHHS link for the details

14.01.2022 Have you ever thought about what you would do if you had to leave your house because of flooding? Preparation can minimise flood damage. Bag it, block it, lift it and leave
