14.01.2022 Here are some images from our flight on Sunday, including a map of our flight path. The ridge line from the Shoalhaven River to Nerriga is extraordinary. Due to... the impact from the fires earlier in the year, most of the mountains and valleys are exposed and barren but still very beautiful. As we flew closer to Bulee Gap near Nerriga, the rock formations change quite dramatically. The rounded rocks resemble beehives (or dinosaur eggs lol) and I’ve heard them referred to as ‘Pagoda Rocks’. With John McDermott See more

14.01.2022 As we flew from Nerriga towards the Budawangs, I almost expected to see dinosaurs roaming through the valleys. There are honestly no adjectives that can adequat...ely describe these ancient ranges. Sadly they were also severely impacted by fire and although some areas are showing positive signs of recovery, others are still void of any greenery at all. Some of the formations shown in these images include Corang Peak, Mount Cole, Mount Owen, The Castle and Didthul - Pigeon House Mountain. With John McDermott See more

13.01.2022 Safe to Stay at Lakeshore Lodge again! Escape the Big Smokes (not smokey here like Sydney & Canberra) No crowds! Beaches & waterways are still beautiful

12.01.2022 Hungry Fire monster still growing. Hope the water-bomber planes can quench it's thirst.

11.01.2022 A few photos of last nights absolutely incredible bioluminescence display in Jervis Bay! What can be seen as a red tide during the day, the microalgae Noctiluca scintillans produces a bright blue glow at night when it is disturbed. Truly an amazing sight to see!

10.01.2022 One of our guests staying here at the moment while the fires rage around us with his catch, a Juvenile Snapper. After a quick photo he was put back into the water to keep on swimming.

10.01.2022 Narrawallee inlet

07.01.2022 Where was all this water when we needed it? The dam was bone dry when we had the fires, now overflowing, new creeks and waterfalls everywhere.

06.01.2022 Lakeshore Lodge survived the Currowan Fire which came at us several times since it first hit our property on 21st December 2019. Saturday 4th January 2020 was catastrophic fire danger weather. The extreme heat caused embers still glowing in logs at the end of the bay on the opposite side to our lodge to flare up & set a tree alight. I reported it to 000 but there were no water-bombing aircraft available to assist. When the Southerly Buster hit around 6pm at 100km/h the ...fire spread rapidly in an easterly direction to the end of the headland on the other side of the bay & then north to Westlake Drive and along the lake away from us thankfully. At the same time a massive fire that had been burning all day south of Wheelbarrow road & heading east towards Tabourie suddenly changed direction with the Southerly & raced north towards us with terrifying speed. It felt like Armageddon & the sky turned black & thick with smoke being pushed by the strong, gusty wind. Luckily for us it came through behind the western side of Tallow Wood Rd and this fire didn't impact our land. Houses south from here on Woodburn Rd and in Wheelbarrow Rd were totally destroyed by fire. The fire trucks finally showed up in Tallow Wood rd & Westlake Drive and saved all the housed there from burning. The Currowan bushfire which began on the 26th November from a lightning strike has devastated the whole of the Shoalhaven. Other bushfires have devastated most of the country. So heartbroken for the people who have lost their lives, homes, animals & for all the beautiful wildlife & bushland. Unimaginably tragic These photos were taken from Kings Point opposite us across the lake.
