24.01.2022 ACT COVID-19 update (8 July 2020) There have been 3 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the ACT in the past 24 hours. This brings the ACT’s total to 111. The thre...e individuals are one female and two males aged in their 20s. Two of the individuals arrived in the ACT from a Melbourne hotspot on Thursday 2 July 2020 and the other is a household contact. A small number of close contacts have been identified and are being managed in accordance with the National Guidelines. Prior to being tested, the three individuals had visited the Fyshwick Markets on Saturday 4 July between 3pm and 4pm and Westfield Belconnen on Monday 6 July between 12pm and 12:30pm. ACT Chief Health Officer Dr Kerryn Coleman said the risk to the broader community was low, however anyone who attended these locations during these times should be vigilant and monitor themselves for symptoms. We are confident the risk to the broader ACT community is low, Dr Coleman said. However this is a very important reminder of the ongoing pandemic and the risk posed by the outbreak currently evolving in Melbourne. Anyone who has been in Melbourne in the past two weeks should monitor themselves for symptoms and be vigilant. From 12.01am today, the ACT has closed its borders for anyone travelling into the ACT from Victoria, unless you have an exemption to enter. ACT residents are approved to return to their home, subject to entering quarantine for a period of 14 days, from the day after leaving Victoria. ACT residents must notify ACT Health of their intention to enter the ACT. Details on how to this are available on the COVID-19 website. We will be checking compliance in partnership with ACT Policing. Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms should attend one of our testing centres to be tested. This is why we have implemented new Public Health Directions that restrict travel to the ACT from Victoria. It is also a critical reminder that no one should be travelling to Victoria except for absolutely essential reasons, said Dr Coleman. Do not travel to Victoria for any reason other than absolutely essential purposes. Once you return to the ACT, you will be required to quarantine for 14 days. We again ask Canberrans to remember four requirements in any situation they face in the coming weeks: 1. Avoid large crowds 2. Keep 1.5 metres apart whenever possible 3. Continue good hand and respiratory hygiene 4. Stay home if you are unwell and get tested if you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms. The ACT Government also has a helpline to assist Canberrans through the challenges of COVID-19. The COVID-19 Helpline is 02 6207 7244 and open between 8am and 8pm daily. People who are concerned and want further information on the virus, can also call the Australian Government’s Coronavirus Health Information Line on 1800 020 080. The line operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. www.covid19.act.gov.au

21.01.2022 Well done Canberra What an amazing community effort. No new cases of Covid-19 in over three weeks. With this awesome news comes the opportunity to reintroduce some of the things we have missed out on these past few months... Like seeing your doctor in person That’s right. Over the coming weeks we will be gradually reintroducing face to face appointments. We are still offering telephone consultations for our patients that are unable to attend, such as those who are unwell, immune compromised, elderly or high risk. But remember, the battle is far from over. We still have a responsibility to ourselves, our loved ones and the general community. Keep up the good work Canberra and remember we are stronger together! #CBRtogether #Covid19 #FlattenTheCurve

13.01.2022 Did you know there are many free places to get tested for #COVID19 in the ACT? And it’s likely not far from you! If you live south side, you can pay a visit to... Dr James Ayres (pictured) and his team at Lakeview Respiratory Clinic. ‘We can see anyone from babies, young children to older adults so you can be assessed for COVID-19 very safely here,’ says Dr Ayres. ‘Getting an appointment is a very simple process. You can log onto our Facebook page, hop onto our website or give us a call. When you arrive, you’ll be met at the door by one of our receptionists who will take you to our medical team. You’ll be assessed, swabbed and given some information to take home. We’ll give you a follow up call and our details so you can contact us if you have concerns’. As the NSW and Victoria border temporarily closes, the ACT will be implementing further protections for Canberrans. From 12.01am Wednesday 8 July, the ACT border will be closed to all Victorians. ACT residents returning to the Territory from Victoria are required to complete 14 days of quarantine, beginning from their date of departure. Canberrans are strongly advised not to travel to Victoria for any reason other than absolutely essential purposes. If you have these symptoms, isolate yourself from others and get tested immediately, more at https://bit.ly/CBR-testing. These directions have been put in place to contain the spread of COVID-19 and to reduce the risk of COVID-19 being brought back to Canberra. 11.01.2022 Chief Health Officer Kerryn Coleman has said anyone with symptoms should get tested. "We really need Canberrans to continue to be tested so that we can understand what's happening in the community, particularly as we may start to see those respiratory viruses circulating," she said. Avoid the long queues at EPIC, and make a free appointment at Lakeview Respiratory Clinic to undergo your COVID-19 swap.

10.01.2022 Do not travel to areas where COVID-19 outbreaks are occurring in NSW. This includes Liverpool and Campbelltown (both in Sydney) where there are clusters of c...ases at this time Anyone who has recently travelled to these areas should closely monitor for COVID-19 symptoms and get tested if they develop symptoms no matter how mild. NSW Health has also issued further advice on cases associated with the Crossroads Hotel in Casula and the Picton Hotel in Picton (both in Sydney). Canberrans are urged to isolate immediately and call ACT Health on 02 6207 7244 (8am to 8pm daily) if they’ve visited: Crossroads Hotel between Friday 3 July to Friday 10 July. Picton Hotel on Saturday 4 July, Sunday 5 July, Thursday 9 July or Friday 10 July. You are also encouraged to get tested for COVID-19 if you have visited these places even if you have no symptoms. This will help the NSW Government in their efforts to establish the source of infection at the hotel. ACT residents travelling to NSW are also reminded to be aware of the situation and take appropriate precautions. This includes maintaining appropriate physical distancing measures practising good hand and respiratory hygiene, and taking note of the locations you are in and at what times. 09.01.2022 Thank you, Canberra, for your great work in stopping the spread of COVID-19. We currently have no active cases and no new reported cases in more than four weeks.... We’re in a strong and enviable position, but now isn’t the time to let our guard down. Take this opportunity to do a stocktake and ensure you have the things you need in the event we see new cases or community transmission in the ACT. Have you got these handy items in your house? Tissues Hand sanitiser Soap Liquid handwash Hand towels (paper or cloth) Household disinfectant Detergent spray or wipes Face masks (surgical or three-layer cloth mask). Please be sensible and don’t stockpile items. Remember, our main defences against COVID-19 are still maintaining at least 1.5 metres physical distance from others and practising good hygiene. Stay home if you’re sick and get tested if you have COVID-19. Keep up your amazing work and don’t let complacency set us back. For other hints, tricks and ways to protect yourself, visit www.covid19.act.gov.au/stay-safe-and-healt/protect-yourself
