08.01.2022 POSTPONEMENT: The Around Sunday Island Trailable Yacht Race scheduled for December 12, and the subsequent re-sail scheduled for December 13 have been postponed... due to a strong easterly wind being forecast right across the weekend. Port Albert Yacht Club in consultation with the Trailable Yacht Division are looking to re-schedule the race with a possible date of January 16. By electing to postpone early PAYC hope that inconvenience is minimized, and I'm sure we can all make use of a little extra time during this pre-xmas rush! Stay Safe

06.01.2022 We are asking Victorians to stop all forms of recreational boating to help stop the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). From 11.59pm tonight, Victoria is introduc...ing Stage 3 restrictions. There will only be four reasons to leave your house: For essential food and supplies. For exercise. For medical care. And for work and education if necessary. To be clear, the Premier has described exercise as ‘a walk round the block or a bike ride to stretch your legs and get some fresh air’. This does not include recreational boating. Please note that Marine Search and Rescue services do not have the same capability to perform rescues on the water as they normally would. Anyone choosing to head out on the water is putting themselves and others at increased risk. Our advice is to stay home, take the time to inspect your lifejackets and keep on top of boat maintenance, and prepare for when we have the all clear to head back out. If you can stay home, you must stay home. Take care everyone. 03.01.2022 Sunday's Discover Sailing and Racing is on........ but no OTB boats With all the media notifications about Covid-19 and taking into consideration Health authorities advice, Australian Sailing information and due to our low numbers, Lake Wellington Yacht Club has made the decision to continue its sailing programs as listed on the website ( this decision is subject and likely to change in coming weeks in this rapidly changing environment). However since that decision we have a...lso been notified of blue-green algae at Marlay Point. After consulting with the Duty Officers for Sunday’s racing, sailing will be restricted to 15 knots wind speed and off-the-beach boats will NOT be allowed to participate. It is up to individual members to decide if they wish to participate. But if you have been overseas or been in contact with someone who has tested positive in the past few days then you need to self-isolate and follow the advice of health authorities. Please do not put anyone else at risk. For further information about Covid-19 go to: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/victorian-public-coronavirus-di For those off the beach sailors who wish to still get on the water please contact the TY skippers who may be able to take you on as crew. It’s been a massively disruptive sailing season for all and we appreciate peoples commitment. Regards Darryn Dyer Commodore LWYC
