24.01.2022 A wonderful landcare success story to inspire us all!

23.01.2022 A wonderful landcare success story from Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group. Landcare bringing the community together, working with traditional custodians, connecting younger generations and restoring natural areas. A definite recipe for success!

23.01.2022 What a great idea - sharing insights between the landcare generation. On tonight, 1st October, at 5pm WA time. Could even be a (slightly aged and wrinkly) WA face joining Rob and others on the panel.

23.01.2022 So What's Natural Capital Accounting all about? For a really good introduction to natural capital accounting have a watch of this recent webinar run through the National Landcare Network and Landcare Australia joint project Landcare Farming: https://landcareaustralia.org.au/landcare-benchmarking-pro/... Why is this kind of accounting important? We need to be able to measure the condition of environmental assets (e.g. native vegetation, soils, waterways, fauna) on a property, or within a region or even a nation to be able to record whether the work we are doing is having a positive impact. This has been difficult without a simple, affordable and accurate tool to use. It would appear that there is now a way for landcare groups and farmers to do this measuring not just the outputs from projects we do but the longer term impact of landcare efforts over time on the environment.

23.01.2022 A very controversial issue which has the potentially to divide the Landcare community. Glyphosate is a good herbicide that has lots of benefits to weed control, particularly for environmental restoration projects and land care programs. To not have that tool available will severely hamper those efforts. Do landcare groups agree? Are there alternatives?

23.01.2022 A new drought resilience adoption and innovation hub in Western Australia. The Grower Group Alliance (GGA), will lead an $8 Million Australian Government investment for South West Western Australia (SW WA) that will transform the way producers and communities prepare for and respond to drought.

23.01.2022 Traditionally Djeran is karla (fire) season, and fire is the most useful and precious resource to the Aboriginal people. Aboriginal people learnt over thousand...s of years how to use fire effectively and safely. What was the lore of the land, became the lore of the people - having the responsibility of keeping the balance of all living things and enabling people to live sustainably for thousands of years. The Wadandi people use fire as a land management tool, with the practice of controlled burning known as fire stick farming. What to learn more? Undalup Association Inc., together with SWCC, are holding 3 fire management workshops in Wadandi Boodja during fire season: 17 May Rosa Glen: https://bit.ly/3tfJSg6 22 May Busselton: https://bit.ly/3mGhvW5 29 May Donnybrook: https://bit.ly/3e1qIEz

13.01.2022 Easy to draw some strong comparisons between the volunteer fire fighting sector and volunteering in the landcare sector. Some very interesting conclusions here about volunteer saturation in rural Australia. 'The increase in demand on volunteers has been driven, in part, by the consolidation of government services into larger cities and centres, meaning smaller communities need to provide more essential and social services through volunteer organisations.'

13.01.2022 Join Landcare Australia for the first in a series of National Landcare Conference webinars. From the Community Partnerships in Action conference stream this webinar is from Victorian-based Kim Boswell about a simple, yet effective method of volunteer recruitment.

05.01.2022 $1.9 billion in new technologies to help farmers reduce emissions Excitingly this funding will set aside money to finally look to address the measuring of carbon in soil of farmers.
