21.01.2022 We know we will never, ever have this experience ever again... the stunning Ningaloo Coast virtually all to ourselves, all because of one the most unsettling periods in the history of our lives. On occasion we do think it would be nice to be in a house. But then we remember, this moment in our lives is to be savoured. And we are so grateful that fate and pure luck was with us during this time. #lappingozlife Find the truth about what its been like for us on the Ningaloo Coa...st during the Covid19 pandemic on the blog today. https://lappingoz.com.au/ningaloo-coast-covid19-pandemic/ #ningaloocoast #winderabandipoint #ningaloostation #exmouth #westernaustralia

21.01.2022 Do you want to hear the good news or the bad news first? Well, Ill start with the Bad News by saying, we are well and truly in the thick of Victorias Stage 4 restrictions. Just like everyone else in Australia and this state, we had no idea at the beginning of 2020, that this pandemic would create such havoc. We chose to come to Melbourne for a few reasons, one being a great work opportunity for Adam, but also because living in a different town to the one we grew up in was v...ery appealing to us both. Luckily, I was able to return to IKEA and even though the kids both returned to school only to face remote learning again, life was good. However, since the Premier announced tighter restrictions for the next 6 weeks, I was feeling really uncertain what that meant for my job. If youre not familiar with an IKEA store, its basically a mammoth warehouse that is a Mecca for home lovers. On a good day, more than 10,000 people will visit an IKEA store The Good News is, I still have my job even though there will be no customers coming into the store. The Other Good News is, my adventure cup is full and I feel confident that everything will be A-OK in the end, whenever that may be. This isnt the first time that our plans have come unstuck. I know what it feels like to have plans unravel. I know how important it is to focus on the good things. So if youre in Melbourne or regional Victoria and youre worried or just need to chat with someone who understands what it means to plan for a trip and then getting hit with an obstacle, you just need to shoot me a message. I am here. If you are feeling overwhelmed or having difficulty coping, Lifeline are available to provide one to one support with a trained crisis supporter. 17.01.2022 Easter holidays is going to be so weird, not being able to escape and go caravanning or camping. 17.01.2022 MAGIC MEMORIES MONDAY! Imagine this... beach front camping and sharing the sea with these guys! You can experience this for yourself on the Ningaloo Coast, in Western Australia. In our opinion, this region is a bucket list destination for a trip around Australia.... This was the spot where we lived when the COVID lock down started. We made some magic memories here with Gearing Around, Clark Family Crusade and Pursuit of the Pianedas. 11.01.2022 8 days since our last post... we headed off grid, only to emerge today to a changed Australia. Borders are closed. Regions are closing. People are worried. We are camped in a remote location and have come into town today to get drinking water, some basic food supplies, beer and gas for our 3 way fridge. We plan to stay put and out of the way and have no plans to travel through any other regions until it is safe to do so. While our lives are on hold right now, we look forward ...to the future, while practicing social distancing the best way we know how. #offgridliving Stay safe everyone. 09.01.2022 Are you ok? After being in our Ningaloo bubble and popping out of it in NSW, Ive come to realise that the constant stress and anxiety has caused some people to handle our global predicament in many different ways. I visited Kmart today, where a customer was totally losing their mind with a coworker, yelling and carrying on like a huge pork chop. He was ranting about returning all of his purchases because the products were produced in China. Well, regardless of how he felt ab...out where his goods were made, he had NO right to speak to an employee in that way. Im taking this personally for good reason. Ive been in retail for many years and can relate to engaging with irate customers A retail, nurse or hospitality worker doesnt deserve a barrage of abuse from anyone. NO EXCEPTIONS! Feeling angry or frustrated about this situation is normal. Its ok to feel this way. But its important not to live inside of these emotions. Take a moment out of your day thats just for you. Maybe its a walk, a quiet coffee, whatever your chill pill is, just take it before venturing out. Kind people are my kinda people Is it just me or have you seen unacceptable behaviour too?

08.01.2022 Hidden Gems... they’re everywhere around Oz if you know how to look and who to ask This Hidden Gem is the beautiful Kianinny Bay, found in the stunning Sapphire Coast, NSW. This place was recommended to us by a local. The bay is sheltered and safe for swimming for all ages. There’s even a grassy picnic area and a fish filleting station. The snorkelling was incredible and if you look real close, you can even see the resident local stingrays in the photo #kianinny #sapphirecoastnsw #hiddengem #sapphirecoast #visitnsw #holidayherethisyear

08.01.2022 Hows the serenity here at Hamersley Gorge, Karijini National Park? We visited just a week before all the travel restrictions came into effect, and already the Park was experiencing a reduced number of visitors. Cyclone Damian and subsequent rain caused significant damage to several popular gorges and a landslide had taken out Circular Pool. With less people making the trek out to Karijini, we quite literally had Hamersley Gorge all to ourselves for a few hours, and it was a perfect day #hamersleygorge #karijininationalpark #beforecovid19 #westernaustralia #seeaustralia

07.01.2022 32 days ago we rolled our home on wheels to this magical camping destination. Little did we all know back then that our home would be quite literally where we parked it. We are 5,700kms from our friends and family. We dont have a television, there is no radio reception and this post is brought to you courtesy of 1 bar of 3G when the wind blows the Telstra signal our way. We are an almost 2 hour drive from fresh drinking water, fresh food, fuel, beer and gas for our fridge. ...Everyday we talk about our situation, the countrys situation, the worlds situation. It seems the right thing to do for the health and safety of our family and others, is to stay put until the government says its safe to travel. For those who will ask, we have permission (an exemption) to stay and pay a nightly camping fee also. For now, we are incredibly blessed with amazing weather, glorious sunsets and sunrises, fresh caught fish for lunch, all at one of the most remote campgrounds in Australia right now #homeiswhereyouparkit #literally #isolated #offgridliving #remotecamping #outdoorliving #remoteliving #australia #oceanswims #australianbeaches #westernaustralia #paradise #thisisWA #ningaloo #salty #sandy #beachfishing #sunsets #lappingozlife #vanlife #beachlife #caravanlife #caravanningwithkids #sunkissed #solarpowered #offgrid #mobilelivingmadeeasy #outdoor #lifestyle #thisisliving

07.01.2022 Thanks a bunch for being here! For those who are fairly new to our community, here is a little bit about us. First the basics - we are a family of four and left Sydney about two years ago to travel Australia. We drive a Ute, towing a pop top caravan. Life was good in the ‘burbs but we knew life could be better. We knew travelling made us happy, so we decided to do more of it. We had a desire to change. It was a simple decision.... Yes, there were times when we worked too much and missed out on important stuff when the kids were little. No, we didn’t sell our house (but we will when we find somewhere else to settle). Our property was a good candidate for a rental, we could afford to keep it, so we did. After two years of Distance Education, the kids are now doing "remote learning" in Melbourne (due to Stage 4 lockdown). Most days are good. Some are hard. All days require DEFCON LEVEL 5 patience. If you want further info about how distance education works, shoot us a comment or PM and we will answer any questions. Our caravan isn’t brand spanking new but it is perfect for our needs and a nice compromise between a full size van and a camper trailer. You’re not going to see gorgeous white interiors, with light coloured throws and cushions because that shit don’t work on the road in real life. The www.lappingoz.com.au website is a hobby job for me (Mia.) I like writing and creating and the site is always evolving and revolving around lapping up the Australian way of life. There is info about our set up, places we’ve been and product reviews. Oh, and I love to write about Aussie caravan renovations, so you’ll find that stuff on there too. We are NOT here to show you how to leave your 9 to 5 job to earn a living online. We are NOT here to get you to sign up to some program / online course to help you [help us!] make money. I’ll tell you for free right now how to earn money online. You can get into affiliate marketing, freelance writing, sponsorship, share trading (an oldie but a goodie), sell your creative goods on Etsy, an eBay store, even enter competitions. We are here because we just want you to SEE how much we EXPLETIVEing love Australia! We want you to love Australia too. We want you to plan your own adventure. We want you to get itchy feet and take a trip. For the weekend, a week, a month or a year. It does not matter, we just want you to SEE AUSTRALIA. Keep on following us if you’d like to hear about 4WD tracks to try, top spots to camp, product reviews, family friendly experiences & spearfishing trips. X Mia

07.01.2022 A big shoutout to this legend, my husband who did most of the driving last week for our 5,000+km dash across the country. 06.01.2022 Double parked in a natural hot tub. The struggle is real on some outback stations. On a more serious note, a lot of these outback stations have been welcoming guests to share their properties during the dry season for many, many years. Chatting to campers around a campfire provides much needed change to the relentless work and periods of isolation during the wet season. And while station folk may be well versed in #isolife, I am sure they look forward to the day when the caravanning and camping tribe will someday descend on them again. #lappingozlife

05.01.2022 Whether youre planning a lap of Australia or a weekend away, the last thing youre thinking of is the water quality of your camping destination The truth is, some towns and regions suffer with what I refer to as pool water. 05.01.2022 Travelling across Australia during COVID 19 restrictions was no easy feat. As you know, government policies were changing day by day. 05.01.2022 Throw back to when Adam and I did the big lap of Oz in a tent! This was just before we started our fam. Out of 16 months we only spent one night in a motel due to extreme weather The whole trip changed our lives and we made a vow to share this experience with our future kids some day. It took us 10 years to get there, when finally at the end of 2017 we left our suburban lives behind to pursue our dream. While together we have definitely accumulated a fair bit of full time tr...avel experience, we are by no means experts in this lifestyle. For those that are thinking about doing something like this, all I can say is to always follow your guts, do whats right for you and your family and your situation PS private messages are always welcome if youd like to pick mine or Adams brain about something. If youd like to read about how we prepped, the rig, what gear we used and what we loved the most about the tent lap, click on this link https://lappingoz.com.au/first-big-lap-2/ #lappingozlife

04.01.2022 Melbourne Lockdown Zoochosis Humans (Homo sapiens) are a species of highly intelligent primates. Humans are characterised by their high manual dexterity and heavy tool use compared to other animals; open-ended and complex language use compared to other animal communications; larger, more complex brains than other primates; and highly advanced and organized societies. Adam, a Homo Sapien living in Melbourne, has begun to suffer from zoochosis - a condition in which animals a...ct strangely and even hurt themselves out of boredom and frustration. Adam’s condition has developed from lack of fresh country air and an inability to hitch up the caravan and go camping for even one night since lockdown began more than 100 days ago. What can you do to help? If you’re currently allowed to go camping or caravanning, if not for yourselves, do it for all the Adam’s currently unable to roam free in their natural habitat - anywhere in Australia And when you’re all set up and enjoying happy hour, have a bevvy for us and wish for Melbourne’s lockdown to end soon Sound On

04.01.2022 The last time we set up a tent, I remember thinking "I don't want to do this anymore" We were still pitching a tent when all our mates, who have either camper trailers and caravans, were already enjoying happy hour and taking the kids off to the pool for a swim. We gave away our old tent before our trip and you all know that we now have a caravan. But there are still times where a caravan isn't ideal and we set out to find the right solution for us.... I picked a pop up tent for our young family. The Quechua 2 Seconds Pop Up Tent caught my eye because, well, 2 SECONDS! HOW DOES IT WORK? The designers have made set up easy, with quick release colour coded clips. You simply undo 4 clips and the tent pops up. Brilliant! Of course, as with any tent, it performs better in wind and rain when the floor and fly is pegged out. This part takes less than two minutes. And you’re done! You don't even need to muck about with attaching the guy ropes as its already been done for you. There are ZERO tent poles to deal with and you can just get on with enjoying your new camp site. SLEEPS 3 ADULTS (or two adults and two young kids) There is enough room inside to store a little bag for each person, plus it has storage pockets inside the tent for your phones and books. WHAT DOES FRESH AND BLACK MEAN? Patented FRESH & BLACK outer fabric means you’re in real danger of sleeping in well past sunrise! It’s 99% dark even in full daylight. This also helps to keep the heat of the day out of the tent for longer. IS IT COMPLICATED? The instructions are cleverly attached to the carry bag so you’ll never have to worry about remembering how to pitch and collapse the 2 Second tent. SIZE AND WEIGHT? Due to the thin circular shape, the tent can be slotted into narrow spaces for storage. We store ours in the back of the ute. All of Decathlon's pop up tents are under 5kg. Here are some pics of our tent, the 3 person fresh and black 3XL. Decathlon are having a sale right now on pop up tents so now is a good time to buy. Here is the link below. https://t.cfjump.com/60315/t/59240 You can also read my review here. https://lappingoz.com.au/quechua-2-seconds-pop-up-tent-fre/

02.01.2022 We broke one of the most sacred rules of camping at this beachfront campground...
