11.01.2022 Western Downs Regional Artists Exhibition 2020 'Phoenix' Gallery107, Dalby Congratulations to all the Western Downs Artists who entered this year's WDRAE, and to the many winners. ... The WDRAE is an annual exhibition held alternatively at Lapunyah Art Gallery, Chinchilla, Gallery107, Dalby, and Dogwood Crossing, Miles. The exhibition is jointly organised by a committee from across the three galleries. This year the theme 'Phoenix' was all about responding to the ancient myth of the Phoenix rising from the ashes, as seen through the lens of personal, community or environmental transformation from death and destruction to new life. A special congratulations to the hard working volunteers at Gallery107, Dalby, and the cultural staff of WDRC, for hosting, installing the exhibition, and organising the preview night, at Gallery107. Well done! It was also good to catch up with the curator of the exhibition Dr Margaret (Maggie) Power, now resident of Toowoomba and working at USQ as an arts impact researcher. Maggie is a well known artist and arts worker in the Western Downs region. Now the results from the night! Painting: Carol Mc Cormack, 'Regeneration' 3D: Guy Breary, 'Beyond the Black Stump' Works on Paper: Kristen Flynn, 'The Gardener' Photography: Kristen Flynn, 'Daisy Flesh' Young Artist: Alicia Stretton, 'Eos' Highly Commended: Cindy Grimes Guy Breary Rosanne Steele Helen Dennis Pat Hinz Karen Gaskell The exhibition is well worth a visit.
