24.01.2022 The LARIAT Calf-Harvester has been in development since 2014. It was designed to meet a need set out by Peter Atkinson of Wonga Santa Gertrudis Stud of Yeoval New South Wales. Peter calves over 600 cows per annum. The green prototype shows a crippled cow, which had to be fed and watered in the field for a period. This experience led to the development of the detachable cage. The auxiliary cage shown on prototype #3 was developed to a requirement of Kevin Mobbs of High Spa Ang...us Stud at Daylesford, Victoria. Kevin who is the owner of this machine, praises this feature for allowing him to move calves from one paddock to another, he says the cow trots along behind. Also, in this picture can be seen, Kevins modified version of our weighing cradle, which is attached to the LARIAT powered weighing jib (not shown) Main features of the LARIAT are: Gentle calf collection, means reduced trauma. Tele remotes, utilising plug in controller. Detachable cage, means more than one cage can be used, giving field holding capacity. Easy to see from mirror are two LEDs that indicate cage direction. Auxiliary calf carrying cage. Powered weighing jib, means small people can easily weigh calves. Fork Lift socket means easy on and off the light truck. One spot light and one flood light, with tele remote control. Mechanical gate latch means, entry and exit without the use of fob. Simple Anderson plug connection. Binding posts provided for the connection of other tools. Dust proof tool box, for holding tag files etc. Extra cap tarp can be provided, for working in bad weather. Double bumper stops on gate, allows the parrying of the cow. Based on experience, one LARIAT should be able to process 1,000 calves Presumably that could be doubled with Autumn and Spring calving. 03.01.2022 After extensive testing, it was found the LARIAT to be a great labour saver, not only for the Stud producer but we found that It would be an indispensable piece of equipment for the Commercial Beef Producer. Because the calf lifter weighing jib (not shown on prototype, displayed on web site) all operations carried out on the calf are done at bench height, without back strain and the cage offers protection against the most protective of mothers. Left hand deploy units can be s...upplied to customers with the steering wheel on the left. All LARIATS come flat packed and with their own built in forklift socket for easier handling and delivery.
