22.01.2022 JOHANSSON MYSTERY SOLVED? I was fascinated to find this photograph in my inbox the other day. It was sent to me by Johansson’s grandsons Chris and Brett (pictured).... Those who’ve seen Lasseter’s Bones will know well my own personal battle with the Johansson riddle. This photograph appears to show his gravestone and would indicate that after his failed desert rendezvous with Lasseter he returned to his native Sweden where he died in 1955. What does this mean?... Well, Chris and Brett have done significant research chasing their family tree since Lasseter’s Bones release. They’ve flown to Sweden to find long lost family members, who in turn lead them to the apparent final resting place of the mysterious, elusive Johansson. Having liaised with Chris many times over the last few years I think we can trust his discovery to be the genuine article. However, as always, answers in the Lasseter puzzle only lead to more questions. We know Lasseter made arrangements to meet Johansson in the desert in 1930, their correspondence indicating that Johansson had crucial information as to the location of the lost gold reef. If Johansson didn’t perish in the desert, why didn’t he ever find his (and Lasseter’s) gold? Why didn’t he meet up with Lasseter as arranged? How did the two men know each other and was Johansson the source of Lasseter’s legendary gold story? Perhaps the answers will be discovered in the book Chris plans to write about his grandfather? I know he has discovered a suitcase full of photographs on his travels, along with other teasing glimpses at a man of whom we know so very little. A man whose secrets could reveal the truth about a lost seam of gold, a billion dollars in treasure and a mystery that has perplexed a nation for 80 years. Hurry up and finish the book Chris, we’re waiting!...

09.01.2022 Caught up with Bob and Elsie when I was up in Sydney last week! Bob is still receiving plenty of letters with theories on where his dad's gold is. It wasn't long before we were studying the maps on the walls again trying to work it all out...just like old times...
