22.01.2022 Late Night Hype is only a few weeks away from completing 10 years of our weekly techno show on KISS FM. We've had a lot of fun on the way. The musical tastes of the presenters haven't changed much over the last two decades so expect the expected! 4 to the floor mechanical magic! Upfront with no bullshit. Kate for giving us the opportunity to bring our take on Techno for ten years and thank that Melbourne is a unique little town that still offers opportunities to the underground and off-centre. Tonight Ranjit Nijjer leads and Leeroy is co-pilot. Ranjit is hitting top form with his deep knowledge of techno and accompanying 4 track technical wizardry. Check out a little about the man right here: ACM: Not one to shy away from experimentation, Bunker favourite, ACM aka Andy Muscat has always enjoyed pushing the boundaries when it comes to playing techno. From a young age, ACM showed a keen interest for electronic music, toying with the idea of producing his own with his dad’s old Casiotone keyboard and Fruity Loops 3 on his family’s PC. I used to make shitty drum loops unti...l I got tired, he says. With a matured, musical finesse, Muscat manages to effortlessly weave between pulsing drums and distorted kicks, to hi-hat loops and rolling acid licks, in order to find the ultimate balance between Detroit and Chicago. Stating that his comfort zone sits with the late 90's/early 00's grooves and acid, however, this doesn't deter ACM from exploring the more fluid, lighter shades of electronic music. With every set, ACM masterly offers listeners a glimpse into his ever-growing vinyl collection, pulling inspiration from a number of highly esteemed artists including Robert Hood, Emmanuel Top, Steve Rachmad and Derrick May. His music choices are informed by his first DJ’ing days at Afterdark Social Club and Survivor! Club of Legends. Muscat makes reference to the days that were crucial to his development as an artist at the beginning of Bunker at The Liberty Social sighting one particular closing set going b2b with Adrian Bell as his fondest memories as a DJ.
