The warm conditions meant the ball was moving exceptionally quickly, rallies were longer, referees were under the decision-making pump with a large numbers of let calls, and a queue formed at the cold-drinks fridge. 22.01.2022 Round 6 Results: Martin 110-9-3 def Cardwell 105-6-1 Eyles 132-10-3 def Hiscoe 103-7-1 McKay 123-11-3 def Irving 97-5-1... Fitz-Gerald 98-9-3 def Nancarrow 67-4-1 Hunt 121-10-3 def Dittmar 95-7-1 Match of the Round: Another week of epic 5 set matches across all levels. At Number 1 level, Murray took the fifth set to beat Smithy by a game and 5 points, Shane C got up to beat Angela by a game and 2 points, and the "King" of 5 set matches Dwayne outlasted Paul (PJ) Byrne to win by a single point 40-3-1 to 39-2-0. Other matches that were decided in the fifth set were between Joel Summers and Catherine Couling, (just 2 points separated them at he end of the match), Dave Conrow and Elva Anderson (4 points differential) and Will Hoban & Zoe Pritchard played out a hard fought game with 8 points the difference after the final rally.

Two of our new players to the Club this season, Zoe Pritchard and Will Hoban, both featured in high quality five set matches: Zoe just outlasted Tessa Watson and Will almost took the honours against Jenny Anderson. #latrobevalleysquash

20.01.2022 Round 7 Results: HISCOE 118-11-3 def DITTMAR 73-5-1 CARDWELL 105-8-2 def HUNT 94-7-2 MARTIN 106-9-3 def IRVING 84-6-1... McKAY 95-8-2 def BOWDITCH 71-6-2 The final match between Teams Thorne and Nancarrow was decided by a single point: NANCARROW 109-8-2 def THORNE 108-9-2 Match of the Round: Brian Patton and Dave Conrow played out a close and entertaining five setter. The first set was even with Brian taking it out 10-9. He then went on to take the second set 9-2 before Dave rallied, taking the next two 9-3 and 9-1. At that stage it looked like it was going to be Daves victory but as we have all come to appreciate, you never underestimate Brian Pattons quiet resolve and determination ... and as the Elder Statesman of the Competition he certainly has a wealth of experience to draw upon. Brian took out the deciding 5th set 9 points to 5. Great game guys!

20.01.2022 Hi Latrobe Valley Squash players Spring comp starts tomorrow night @ 6pm in Morwell (note the earlier start). All teams are playing 2 nights per week (Tuesday and Thursday) while in Morwell.... There will be fill-in / cross over matches for players that can only play one night. Look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow @ 6pm.

Hunt 113-10-3 def Thorne 75-4-1, and, in the closest team result for the night: Eyles 95-7-2 def Martin 87-7-2 Individually, Natasha Wendt and Tony Galli fought out an epic 5 set match that lasted late into the night. Natasha started slowly losing the first two games but fought back to take the next three games 9-8, 9-8,10-9 eventually winning by 3 sets to 2.

Elvas win also just got Team McKay over the line against Team Hunt by a combined 6 points, keeping them on the top of the ladder. That might change next week with in-form Team Thorne pressing for top spot.

This week Murray came back from 2 games down to win the next three games of a close 5 set match and beat Rick 35-3-1 to 32-2-0.

McKAY 133-9-2 def HISCOE 130-9-2 Game of the Week played out between Barb Melvin and Dave Conrow. Barb took the first 2 sets. Then Dave turned the tables and took the next two. In the fifth set Barb rallied and ended up winning the match 3-2. Great effort by both players!

Thorne 124-12-4 def Dittmar 63-3-0 Cardwell 134-9-2 def Eyles 127-9-2 Match of the Round: Team Cardwell just managed to defeat Team Eyles by 7 points. As to be expected in such a close match there were some very close individual game results: At number 2 level, Deanna Jarvis took the last two games to record a 39-3-3 win against Ryan Soutar (32-2-0). Ryan, our youngest pennant player, rarely fails to provide an entertaining quality game. At Number 4 level, James Wilson (42-3-1) came back from 2 -0 down to beat Owen Bowey (33-2-0).
