25.01.2022 We welcome Dr Brooke Sheldon to the LWHC team. Brooke's clinic will be on a Tuesday morning 8.30am to 12.30pm, commencing from 24th November. Appts can be made online at www.launcestonwhc.com.au or p: 6388 9284. Originally hailing from Perth, WA, Brooke is a graduate of the University of Western Australia. She completed her training in general practice and worked as a GP in the suburbs surrounding Perth and in the regional town of Albany. She has experience in the full ran...ge of general practice, but has always maintained a particular interest in women’s health. Brooke gained experience at King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women and Family Planning in WA before working at a busy women’s clinic and general practice in Melbourne for several years. For the last decade, Brooke has been delighted to call Launceston home. With many years’ experience in women’s and sexual health and a passion for individualised care, she is excited to join the team at Launceston Women’s Health Clinic. In addition to her clinical role, Brooke has a background in medical education and works as the Director of Clinical Training at the Launceston General Hospital where she supervises junior doctors and coordinates their education and training. In her spare time, Brooke enjoys swimming, music and travel, and she makes a mean brownie!

17.01.2022 November 1622 is National Cervical Cancer Awareness Week. The new Cervical Screening Test (CST) is more accurate and is required less often than a Pap test. M...ost cervical cancers can be prevented by regular screening so it is important that all women aged from 25 to 74 screen every five years. If you are aged over 30 and have never had the CST (or a Pap test), or it has been four years or more since your last test, you may be eligible to self-collect your test sample. Talk to your GP about whether this option is suitable for you. If you are due for cervical screening, don’t delay book an appointment with your doctor today.

11.01.2022 A big thank you to everyone who helped being part of LWHC Share the Dignity campaign. We had a goal of making 30 bags, and we are delighted to say that we ended up with 39 bags which Kath is delivering to Share the Dignity today. So many people helped us in so many ways; some people brought items in, others made bags or masks and others helped pack bags. This was a real community effort and we love the fact that so many people are helping women in our community through this great initiative.
