25.01.2022 Due to reasons out of our control, we have had to temporally stop running the tram Tuesday to Friday, this is until at least the end of October. However, our volunteers are still coming into the museum so if you would like to have a look around, give us a call. We are still open and running the tram on Saturdays and Sundays.

23.01.2022 If anyone wants sand for their garden or kitty litter or whatever, feel free to pick up sandbags from outside of the Tramways

19.01.2022 Unless an unexpected catastrophic event happens in the interim, we are happy to report the Tramways will be open again at 10am Thursday 9th, after evacuating as recommended on Tuesday. Thanks to the terrific team for acting promptly and efficiently to evacuate and to protect the Tramways assets from possible flooding.

19.01.2022 We have some exciting news. As of this weekend, we will be open all weekend... that's right, every Saturday and Sunday from 10am-4pm (we may close earlier if there aren't many people in the precinct). Entry to our museum is free, but prices for tram ride are as follows: Adults: $5, Children $2 (under 6 is free), Seniors (with show of card) $4.50... Come for a ride on Tram 29, participate in our "treasure hunt", visit our museum, view the restoration process that is happening with Trams 1 and 26, collect our stamp from Tiger Track Stamps Tasmania, get your Children's University passport stamped or just come in for a look. We hope to see you soon

15.01.2022 Exciting news... For the first time, we will be open on Show Day Holiday (Thursday 8th October). We even have little showbags for the first 30 children's tickets sold for the tram (this includes children under 6 who are actually free). Museum opening times are 10am - 3:30pm with the tram running on demand between 10am and 3pm. Please note if there is no one in the area after 2:30pm, the tram may be packed away early.

15.01.2022 The Launceston Tramway Museum would like to invite everyone to celebrate the grand opening of the newly restored track, that runs behind the QVMAG, on 12th October (2019). The restored track adds an extra kilometre to our tram service and helps preserve an important aspect of our citys heritage. Mayor Albert Van Zetten, will officially open the restored track at 12 Noon. For the kids, there will be face painting and a balloon artist at the museum from 12 Noon to 2PM. ... To celebrate the occasion, the tram fare will be a gold coin. A special Twilight Tram service will also commence at 7PM. Looking forward to seeing you there!

15.01.2022 Unfortunately our Motorman (tram driver) is unwell today and won't be in tomorrow either. The decision has been made to close from 1pm today but will hopefully reopen on Saturday. We hope our Motorman will be back on deck by then, we will update as we know.

14.01.2022 We are tremendously pleased to announce the success of our first Next Stop! Open Mic. With a wide variety of performances and an enthusiastic audience we are delighted that the event was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended and provided the opportunity for new friendships to form. We would like to extend our gratitude to all the performers who shared their talents with us, and to all members of the community who came along to show support. Our following Next Stop! is fast approaching, and we would highly appreciate your continued support as we celebrate the immense talent we have in Launceston. The event will be held on Sunday 29th November, between 2pm-4pm.

14.01.2022 The Tramway Museum is a community-based organisation that works to restore and revive the old trams that once roamed Launceston Tasmania. With over 50 volunteers actively working to recapture our exciting history, there are many opportunities to journey through Tasmanias tramway past; including fascinating tales of when trams were no longer trams, Launcestons oldest surviving movie footage, an interactive childrens area and a sneak peek at the ongoing projects in the original workshop of Launceston Municipal Tramways. The museum is tram-packed with adventure, complete with a 1940s tram ride and conductors ready to stub your ticket. So come one, come all! Visit us at the Inveresk Precinct today.

09.01.2022 We would like to extend our thanks to Mayor Albert Van Zetten and all the visitors who participated in the opening service for the track extension and the twilight ride on Saturday 12th October. Thanks to the enthusiasm shown during the twilight ride, we can reveal that we intend to run more over the summer months. The dates will be announced as soon as available.

06.01.2022 Come one, come all! Debuting our open mic - Next Stop! October 25th from 2-4pm. Bring along your friends and family (and perhaps your guitar) and join us as we celebrate the performing artists of Launceston.

05.01.2022 THE SALISBURY ROLLER STEAMS INTO SERVICE FOR THE TRAMS AGAIN The Launceston Tramway Museum is delighted to have the Salisbury Steam Roller visiting from Redwater Creek for the summer. The Salisbury Steam Roller was built in Launceston in 1910 for the Launceston Municipal Council, and was used to lay the tracks for the trams that roamed the city from 1911 1952. In 1953 it again rolled into service, to seal over those same tram tracks.... The Launceston Tramway Museum includes the original tram workshop, where volunteers still actively restore trams. The workshop will house the Salisbury Steam Roller until early March. Over the summer the roller will steam into service to relay tram tracks in the Inveresk Precinct, before it returns to Redwater Creek for SteamFest 2016. 03.01.2022 Celebrate the beginning of a fresh year by coming along to our first open mic for 2016! We welcome any new or returning performers to the stage and look forward to the exciting times ahead. See you all there!

01.01.2022 We are open and Tram 29 has been out to enjoy the snow. If you are coming to visit today, please be aware that the ground is starting to get very slippery due to the melting snow.
