22.01.2022 We have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with our current Mayor Colleen Gates, for almost a decade we have watched her work ethic, confidence, commitment and leadership grow and blossom. We 'took to her' the moment we met and visa versa. They are big shoes to fill and I hope to work with the 2 new Wetlands Councilors when they are elected next month (it's a postal vote election). Colleen's two Mayoral terms and the support she gave to community groups in wetlands and HBCC are something that she should very proud of We will host a community event for her later this year.

A big thankyou to all who played for us in our 4 Pennant sides. The best value Bingo is still held every Wed Night at 8pm at the Club. Play every game for al little as $7.50 Please support the next Trivia Night & the BDO Reverse Raffle.

WE ARE SUSPENDING WEEKLY BINGO UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE & CANCELLING THE OPEN DAY ON SUNDAY 26TH MARCH. 19.01.2022 Easter best wishes to all as we stay safe & stay home in what is the new norm the latest news is here (not he best copy) and a couple of photos to put a smile on the dial. A former temporary resident who I first came across, tiny, wet and abandoned at Laverton Park. Smokey is obviously enjoying his new home. Also a photo of the our footy oval last Saturday......no footy, just some visitors from the local wetlands, but no one told them about social distancing!

18.01.2022 We will be cooking sausages at Bunnings Altona this Sunday 8th.......come visit us, be there all day from 8.30am. Fly me to the Green bumper stickers and our AFL Footy Tipping Entry Forms will be on site to hand out also.

17.01.2022 Our much loved member, Michaels, life will be celebrated on Wed 16th from 4pm, in normal circumstances we would host and provide comfort to his family at the Clubhouse..........but we are not yet in normal times. There are many families who have faced this during the pandemic........we can share our thoughts and condolences with a note, a call or attend by video link. For Michael, nelsonbros.com.au/obituaries/Michael-Joseph-Mahon

16.01.2022 I was looking for a positive story......and had one, but it is overtaken by an emergency visit to the club tonight........wild winds have caused the collapse of our sun shelter between the two greens. Thankfully it fell AWAY from the No. 1 green which is being prepared for reopening.......maybe early October! dont dispair, weve all gone through quite a bit of distruption since March. See you all mid Spring! (PS Happy Fathers Day for the Dads) The collapse started slowly, and as I tried to prop it with the chairs, it just went!

15.01.2022 Please share, especially within the Altona Meadows and Laverton networks, friends, groups and Clubs. Help make it a great night for the Club. We will shorty outline our plans to make this a major annual fundraising fun event in future. Our new website will be launched next month, please consider hiring our venue for you next main function.

15.01.2022 The Club has had to cancel The Trivia scheduled for tonight (Friday 29th) due to the very low level of bookings...........we apologise for the late notice and for any inconvenience. We remain committed to these activities and the involvement of the local community in them; more lead time for promotion, especially with local sports clubs & community groups may lead to partnerships and joint fundraising opportunities. Happy to receive suggestions and work with groups to our mutual benefits. There are plenty of Friday nights available after Easter to July. Email: [email protected]

15.01.2022 There's a 'heep of stuff' going on at present with the start of Mid Week and Weekend Pennant Bowls starting from this Sat. No preparation for a season has ever been like this, but we're still smiling and looking forward to it.......the stress won't last. Our team of volunteer Bingo officials are happy to announce that Bingo on Wednesday Nights will be back early in the NY. Cheers and enjoy using the masks only in the areas where social distancing is difficult

14.01.2022 In preparation for an exciting raft of activities over the coming months we proudly introduce "This Girl Can" Ambassador Rosa Deverell, our newest female junior member of the Club who is learning to play the game! We are committed to increasing local participation, with summer barefoot bowls, school visits, family and community activities with music, bowls and BBQs commencing in the New Year. Rosa will assist with these promotions that include a grant from Vic. Health to improve our ability to host public use of the Clubs facilities by youngsters and families and elderly alike.

14.01.2022 GEE ITS BEEN A BUSY MONTH! Bowls has been full on, our Pennant sides deserve a well earned break over the festive season. Our Saturday teams, in particular, have been stretched to the limit and have performed beyond expectation. The Club Christmas Lunch was held yesterday with a great spit roast & dessert meal. Photos are on the way. VIP attendees included Mayor Colleen Gates and Bowls Australias Paul Holtschke and a good time was had. Backing up today is my shift with Altona Mens Shed Christmas Lunch. Behind the Bar we have volunteers, Mary, Kerrie ans Sam. Live music and 140 visitors are having a good feed. The air con is struggling as are the dances. MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL

13.01.2022 Dont miss out on next Months Rock n Roll Dance night.......Sat 14th March. Live with Joe Mandica & Mario Agius. Only $15 pp, booking essential by Email or Text 0419 536 148......be there or be square!

13.01.2022 Tomorrow we usually stand green side, under the flagpole, flag at half mast & solemnly bow in silence before reciting the ode, ending with Lest we Forget. Ill do it at home tomorrow, to honor my Grandfather & God Father who served in 2 Wars. If you go exercising at Laverton Park tomorrow you could pause in our car park for a brief, silent moment to bow and say Lest we forget. We have a little dedication in the Foyer.

13.01.2022 With the strong winds remaining it was wonderful to get such prompt & efficient assistance from HBCC sport & recreation dept. We could not have made it safe for weeks. Thanks to the council crew who attended today, thanks to Cr Colleen Gates for organising. Also another observation, as during this latest lockdown I have seen many locals visiting Laverton Park Oval for their exercise, children on bikes, dogs on leads (and some not) teenagers kicking footys, jogging, middle aged folk doing laps and lots of walkers. It has been uplifting, I hope you stay connected to this recreation space! towards the end of September the Club wants to start regular weekly local adult walking circuits in and around the park for older folk to enjoy as we come out of isolation.

13.01.2022 Local folk enjoying Lunch and entertainment at Laverton Bowling Club today.......................also soon to announce the date for our next Friday Night Trivia games, stay tuned!

10.01.2022 I'm supporting this candidate, Steve is across the issues facing local sport and recreation; he also has Colleen's support. He has visited Laverton Park and A B Shaw Reserve recently and observed the mix of cricket, footy, soccer, tennis and bowls and the passive recreation and playground space. We are in the heart of the Wetlands Ward. Steve is an Independent candidate, not political and not being funded by vested interests.

10.01.2022 So much is happening all over the country with bush fires......stories of hardship, loss, support, tragedy and teamwork, its hard say something as bland as happy new year. Our little Club faces its own challenge over this year. We are supporting a Vic Health initiative by opening up opportunities for more women to learn to play our game......weve started with This Girl Can local student Rosa, whose Dad is a member of the Club, her brother is also learning to play. Both youngsters enjoyed their first Pennant win just before the Christmas break. HOW GOOD IS THAT. THIS GIRL CAN!

06.01.2022 It is with a heavy heart that we share the sad news of the sudden passing of our esteemed member and team mate Joyce Lloyd. Joyce will be forever in our thoughts, the shock of her passing cannot be measured, she was such a huge part of our Club activities and our lives. The Club extends condolences to her family and we will come together shortly and we will share and grieve with them.

06.01.2022 We regret that it has also been necessary to cancel our activities today (Sunday 22nd March) to help recognize Hobsons Bay Councils Diversity Week. It coincides with the United Nations Day for the elimination of racial discrimination & Harmony Day. Our Club has developed policies following our attendance at seminars with other local sporting Clubs in Hobsons Bay which focused on the need to embrace an inclusive and tolerant approach to a broad range of cultural & social needs.

04.01.2022 Some good news, as I was 'mapping' a couple of 'social exercising walks' for locals & local members (subject to restrictions allowing after 28th) on and around Laverton Park earlier today, I ventured onto A B Shaw Reserve & the picnic & play area. It was great to see youngsters & some older folk there due to the reopening. With verbal permission, I took a couple of photos. Please don't forget the passive recreation areas around us, walking with some 'social interaction' is good for our physical and mental health

04.01.2022 The green has opened, the practice matches are underway.......so now the fundraising begins in earnest to give us the funds to improve our amenities.
