25.01.2022 They are not forgotten, or overlooked by the passing of the years Silently we stand and remember them as the sun slowly appears. And as the bugle plays The Last Post and we humbly watch the dawn break, We appreciate how courageous they were when our freedom was at stake. They were people much loved and full of life when they answered the call, ... On April 25th each and every year, we will remember them all. by Trish Reeves

25.01.2022 It's up to you to be the change you want to see in the world.

23.01.2022 To all our friends and fellow Lions. Easter reminds us that hope must never be lost, for as dark as the road may seem, there always lies light at the end of it. From the New Civitas team, may all your kind thoughts and prayers be fulfilled and wishing you all a pleasant and safe Easter. favpng.com

23.01.2022 Our founder, Melvin Jones said "I am finding out that you don't get very far until you start doing things for others" From one man's vision in 1917, Lions has ...become an Organisation of nearly 1.4 million members in over 200 countries today. Having fun while helping others was one of their goals back in 1917 and should still be true today. I encourage you to have a look at our wonderful history and be proud of what we have achieved over the past 100 years. https://www.lionsclubs.org//discover-/interactive-timeline

11.01.2022 Our International President, Dr. Jung-Yul Choi's theme for this year is "United in Kindness and Diversity". As he has mentioned, "We are one of the most diverse... and inclusive volunteer organisations on earth. We serve all people, in all places, and it’s our great diversity that enables our exceptional service." As Lions, we should be proud of our acceptance and inclusion of all cultures, knowing that we can all work together to serve the community. "Diversity is not about how we differ. Diversity is about embracing one another’s uniqueness." 08.01.2022 With their hair a little whiter, their step not quite so sure Still they march on proudly as they did the year before. Theirs were the hands that saved us, their courage showed the way Their lives they laid down for us, that we may live today.... From Gallipoli's rugged hillsides, to the sands of Alamein On rolling seas and in the skies, those memories will remain. Of airmen and the sailors, of Lone Pine and Suvla Bay The boys of the Dardenelles are remembered on this day. They fought their way through jungles, their blood soaked desert sands They still remember comrades who rest in foreign lands. They remember the siege of old Tobruk, the mud of the Kokoda Trail Some paying the supreme sacrifice with courage that did not fail. To the icy land of Korea, the steamy jungles of Vietnam And the heroic battle of Kapyong and that epic victory at Long Tan. Fathers, sons and brothers, together they fought and died That we may live in peace together, while at home their mothers cried. When that final bugle calls them to cross that great divide Those comrades will be waiting when they reach the other side. Poem by Ken Bunker

07.01.2022 Happy Australia Day. Quote: "To me, being Australian is about looking after your mates, taking care of the less fortunate, supporting the underdog and enhancing the spirit that makes all Australians unique. " Steve Waugh

07.01.2022 Koalas are one of Australia's most iconic and loved native animals. Did you know that this beautiful species has been listed as vulnerable in QLD, NSW and ACT? Their population is in serious decline due to bush fires, road accidents, habitat destruction and dog attacks. You can help raise funds for a local organisation that is passionate about saving and protecting this species. Please support the Queensland Koala Society by attending our fundraiser on Sunday 23 May 21. There are great raffle prizes on offer and you're sure to enjoy yourselves at the iconic Norman Hotel. Tickets available via Trybooking on www.trybooking.com/BQQKQ . Bookings close 18 May. We look forward to seeing you. #queenslandkoalasociety #QKS #NormanHotel #newcivitas
