16.01.2022 Hi! My name is Nitro. Today was a great day for me. One year ago I did something silly. I got excited when I was out on a day trip with my owner and ran off after a kangaroo. Then just like that I was lost. I looked for my owner and he looked for me but we didnt find each other. ... At some point I wandered into a farm and even though I do have a microchip Mr Farmer didnt check or call anyone and so I stayed there where I was fed and looked after. Im a very nice dog so its no wonder they wanted me to stay. My owner was really missing me though and was looking everywhere, they called the Council and posted me on Facebook but they couldnt find me. I bet they were sad. Recently I got a bit of a cough and had to go to the vet to get a check up. The vet told Mr Farmer that I had a microchip so Mr Farmer called the Council and the next thing I knew is I was taking a ride in the Rangers van. I wasnt sure at first but the Ranger knew my real name so I thought it would be ok. This afternoon I was in the library with the Ranger, just getting a belly rub and rolling on the carpet, as you do, when I had the best surprise. My owner came to get me! We are both so happy! I just want to remind you that if you find a dog or cat you should call the Council straight away. The Council staff do want to get dogs and cats home to their owners quickly and I could have been keeping my owner company all this time.

13.01.2022 What its like to be a real cat owner

11.01.2022 It is a challenge for vets that their patients cant talk. That is why owner observation is very important. Take for instance, the vomiting cat. Did it really vomit? Or did it really regurgitate? Or did it cough and then gag? These are very different things, with very different causes and consequences. But to many owners, these three events all appear as vomiting. And that is what they tell the vet.... But to break it down: 1. Regurgitation involves food passively coming back up the food pipe (oesophagus). There are no pre-warning signs. The food just comes up and out. Any food that comes up is always undigested. Regurgitation is due to disease in the food pipe and it is often serious. Animals are at risk of aspirating the food as it comes up, which will cause pneumonia. 2. Vomiting is an active process to remove the contents from the upper gut and stomach. Beforehand, an animal will experience nausea. You can observe this as excessive drooling, licking the lips, and repeated swallowing. In the process of vomiting, the tummy wall will heave in and out. Food that comes up may be either digested or undigested. It may also contain yellow bile. There are many causes of vomiting, from insignificant to very serious. 3. Coughing is due to diseases of the heart or airways and lungs. Sometimes it is hard for the untrained person to recognise a cough. If an animal coughs up fluid it can cause them to gag. A gag may result in opening the mouth to spit out" white froth. If the cough is soft, the gag may be all an owner notices. Since white froth comes out, this may be misreported as vomiting. So all the details are important to help us understand what is going on. As much as youd rather support your animal while sick, if you can record some video of the event, that helps us to work out what is going on. And also if you bring in some of the vomit with you on your visit to the vet.

11.01.2022 Sorry for the inconvenience. Due to the COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS), We have to protect everyone- including our fur babies. The door will be locked & protocols have now been put in place. When you arrive to clinic please phone us to say your here so we can check you in. Rosemary and staff would like to Thank you for your patience & understanding. Ph- 9360 0911 We woud also like to say there are plenty of kittens still up for adoption please feel free to call and enquire.

09.01.2022 With extended daylight and warm weather, the summer can be a great time to get active with your pet. However, its important to be aware of the dangers of heatstroke a life-threatening condition, caused by the elevation of a dogs body temperature. While people can also suffer heatstroke, the risk is much greater for dogs as they only perspire around their paws and nose (which is not sufficient alone to cool their body). The most effective means for a dog to expel excess heat is panting, which moves cool air through the nasal passages and around the body. If a dog doesnt have access to cool air either because of high outside temperatures or a confined environment they are at risk of overheating.

09.01.2022 The real reason why you dont leave you kids unattended with animals. Too funny!
