24.01.2022 Today we celebrate Vet Nurse Day! It is a special day to acknowledge the important role that Vet Nurses play and an opportunity for grateful pet owners in the wider community to say ‘thank you’ to their local vet nurses for who they are, and what they do best. Nurses are optimistic, thorough and empathetic but, most of all, they are the doting advocates and voices for pets across Australia. ... The love, care and kindness they display is incredibly inspiring. These Super Heroes take care of animals from all walks of life with love, compassion and patience. Often being the first point of contact, Vet Nurses assist pet parents with questions or concerns they may have about their pets to ensure that they are always happy, healthy and well taken care of. We take this opportunity to thank Veterinary Nurses across Australia for their incredibly dedicated work. Happy Veterinary Nurse Day! #vetnurses #vetnurseday #vetnursesareawesome

And remember, a favourite Halloween treat amongst us humans can be very harmful to our pets. 13.01.2022 We all grieve. It’s a natural reaction to any change or loss. And, just like adults, every kid grieves differently. From shutting downto crying, curiosity or acting outthere really is no right or wrong way to grieve. So often, adults try to protect children and teens from tragic events like death by avoiding conversation and pretending like nothing happened. But the truth is, kids grieve, too! It’s our job as caregivers to teach and model what good grief looks like and to... support youth in finding healthy ways to adjust and cope along their grief journey. Here are some helpful tips to allow your child grieve in a healthy way: When they are ready to talk, be ready to listen Be honest and answer questions with age-appropriate answers Provide a calm, compassionate presence for your child. Sometimes saying nothing is better than anything you could try to say to make it better Maintain routine and consistency wherever possible (Regular meals, scheduled bedtimes, school attendance, etc.) Be a model of what good grief looks like. Kids will watch what you do to determine what grief is supposed to look like Allow and encourage your child to remember and identify ways to honour their special pet Inform your child’s teacher and other important adults of the death to prepare them for possible grief reactions that impact school functioning and behaviour Hug with permission Look for ways to increase safety and security for a child in this time of grief #petsarefamily #petloss #children #unconditionallove
