24.01.2022 Today marks Lawnton Academy's 38th birthday! The Academy commenced operation in October 1982 in a small leased shed in Paisley Drive. The Academy was one of the first private Gymnastics schools in operation in Queensland. The Lawnton Academy is dedicated to our motto Excellence Through Effort, and we believe that every child has the ability to thrive and develop in many ways through the sport of gymnastics here at the Lawnton Academy, whether this be in the competitive or ...recreational programs we offer. We diligently work to achieve our mission and goals and also provide a safe and productive facility to assist all of our gymnasts to enjoy their gymnastics experience. We look forward to many more wonderful years of gymnastics to add to the Academy’s long years of service to the Pine Rivers community and the sport of Gymnastics in Queensland. To many of our staff this gym is our second home and we have loved watching our family grow and thank Louise for her passion and drive over the 38 years.

23.01.2022 Giving 100% at training everyday can be difficult and we are hoping that our newest motivation quote and question of the month will help to remind you that every training is important and you should always have goal for each session. No matter how small or big, walking away with a sense of accomplishment after each session helps keep the motivation high! November. Quote "What doesn't challenge you, doesn't change you"... Question "What is your goal/s for this training session?" These will be a fixture of the Whiteboard at the back of the gym to help remind to always train with purpose and remember that gymnastics is one of the hardest sports in the world so when things get tough, you have two choices, keep going or keep going :)

22.01.2022 Message from the Principle Dear Parents and Gymnasts, ... We have received guidance from Gymnastics Queensland in regards to the current covid restrictions of wearing face masks:- Gymnasts aged 12 years and over do not need to wear their face masks when they are taking part in a class as they are doing what could be considered strenuous exercise. Gymnasts over 12 years must wear their mask when they come into the gym and put it on when class has been dismissed and before they leave the gym. Our staff, when taking a class, will have a mask on and will pull it down when they are speaking to the gymnasts. Like the gymnasts they are also required to wear the mask on entry and exit to the gym and when not in the training area. All other persons (parents/caretakers/siblings & friends aged 12 years and over) must wear a mask if entering the gym. Don’t forget to check in with the QR code and check out on departure. Let’s all pray that the restrictions lift at 1am on Friday January 22nd Louise

08.01.2022 Message from the Principal Happy New Year to our Tiny Twisters, Girls Gym Fun and Gym Skills Program and Boys Gym Skills Program parents, gymnasts and families! I do hope you have all had an enjoyable festive season.... Classes resume for our once-a-week programs on Monday January 11th for the last 2 weeks of Term 6. Same times as 2020 for these 2 weeks unless otherwise notified. VERY IMPORTANT CHANGE TO OUR COVID PROCEDURES A few days before Christmas I received an email from the Qld Government advising that all indoor sporting clubs can no longer use paper covid tracing sheets and all persons including the gymnasts entering indoor sporting facilities from December 24th 2020 need to log in via a QR code. You will notice when you enter the gym next week that several laminated QR codes have been attached to the lattice area and also the blackboard at the front of the building along with a set of instructions. Please read the attached instructions prior to your coming back to the gym next week and ensure that you/your child or anyone entering the facility checks in and also checks out with the QR code every time you come to gym. New class times for Term 1 2021 commencing Monday January 25th are planned to be forwarded on Monday January 18th. Look forward to seeing all the lovely faces back in the gym next week. Principal Louise

06.01.2022 Wednesday and Thursday saw Ewan, Lachlan, Padaric and Stuart participate in the Team Future Clinic at Chandler. This clinic was selection based for level 5 under, 6 Under and 7 Under. It was a fantastic learning experience for all the boys and myself! Each session ran for 3.5hrs with two of the high performances coaches. New techniques, skills and drills were learnt while honing in on the fundamentals of what makes an elite gymnast. I was extremely proud of their efforts and the way they gave everything a go and I dare say have a new found determination to excel in this awesome sport.

02.01.2022 ATTENTION ALL PARENTS OF ALL ACADEMY PROGRAMS AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL I trust you are all aware of the lockdown restrictions being lifted at 6pm tonight along with some new requirements being in place for the next 10 days.... All Classes after 6pm tonight will be resuming this week at the Academy at the same times as 2020 unless otherwise notified. The following teams will be starting back tonight for a 6.30 8.30pm training session:- MAG Team Gold, Silver and Blue & WAG Teams Diamond, Purple & Violet (plus Zoe Watts). Below is current information we have from GQ who are seeking clarification regarding use of face masks and are hoping to get back to clubs on this matter by 5pm today:- You must carry a face mask with you at all times when you leave home, unless you have a lawful reason not to. You must wear a mask in indoor spaces, except in your home. [This includes] indoor recreational facilities and gyms. Children under 12 years are and people affected by a medical condition or disability are exempt [from wearing a face mask]. All businesses may now have: one person per 4 square metres on their premises indoors [or] one person per 2 square metres outdoors. With this being the only information available at this time, Gymnastics Queensland is seeking further clarification on if gymnastics clubs fall within the indoor recreational facilities category and if the 4m2 and facemask rules apply ‘on the field of play’. Another point we are seeking clarity on is the following statement and if this related to indoor exercise, which appeared in a Facebook post by Queensland Health: You don’t need to wear a mask in private vehicles, while outdoors at a safe distance from other people or if you’re doing strenuous exercise. We ask that all staff and athletes aged 12 years and older entering the facility via the lattice area, and in the gym area’s off the field of play i.e. kitchen, reception, toilets wear facemasks as directed above. We ask that other persons only enter the premises if absolutely necessary. (e.g. use of toilet, Tiny Twister). Please maintain social distancing on the premises at all times. The coaches will determine what activities can be safely performed with the use of mask (for those aged 12 years and older) and masks will be removed for any activity regarded as strenuous or dangerous to be done wearing a mask. Workplace Health and Safety must always come first. The coaches will also ensure that the gymnasts maintain social distancing during the training sessions as far as is practical. We have no issue with the size of our training area and the 4m square rule. Please don’t forget that all persons entering the facility must use the QR code to check in, including the gymnasts, and also check out on the QR code when you leave. I will get back to you if I receive any further clarification from GQ later today or tomorrow. Thank you for your continuing support.
