25.01.2022 Happy Friday!! We hope youve had a super week! Lawnton Kindy has a busy weekend ahead with our upcoming Bunnings Sausage Sizzle this Sunday at Bunnings Lawnton! The weather is predicted to be fine and sunny and we hope to see you there

25.01.2022 Our proud little gardeners love growing their own food at kindy! We even used our kindy-grown delights to make spinach and ricotta triangles! Yummo! We create opportunities for the children to develop a love and appreciation for their natural environment.

25.01.2022 Kindy is officially all wrapped up for 2020! What a year it was too! We would like to wish all our kindy friends heading off to prep next year all the very best for their school adventures ahead! To our new and returning kindy friends we are so looking forward to creating some amazing memories and learning lots together in 2021!... 25.01.2022 We live and breathe play-based learning at Lawnton Kindy as we see the benefits every single day for our children. When inside the classroom, our activities are fun, educational and interactive to encourage relationship building and exploration. We are very fortunate to also have a generous outdoor space that invites children to explore, create, interact with nature and continue their learning outside the classroom.

25.01.2022 At Lawnton Kindergarten we are mindful that we have a responsibility to value and promote a greater understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing and being. Wherever possible we include our Indigenous families in the educational process for our staff and children. Today we had a visit from one of our Dads who recently painted his first Aboriginal dot painting representing his own Indigenous culture and gifted it to our kindy along with some stories ...about his tribe. We learnt some new words to incorporate into song and some symbols we will incorporate into our own artworks. We understand when Educators use their cultural competence to build childrens knowledge, understanding and skills in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing and being, we address Learning Outcome 2 of the EYLFChildren are connected with and contribute to their world. We value the contributions of our parents in sharing their cultures and lives with us to create a beautiful community at our kindergarten.

18.01.2022 The children were interested in the birds in our yard. After researching birds, they created bird feeders to feed the Kindergarten birds over the Winter months. We then read Feathers for Phoebe and the children decided to design their own outfits for their Phoebe birds. What uniquely individual and spectacular looking birds you have all created! 17.01.2022 What a great return to Lawnton Kindy weve had after lockdown! One of our friends caught a Praying Mantis at home during isolation and brought it into kindy to show us, along with the cocoon she left behind in the bug catcher. This sparked a few weeks of learning about these creatures- we were particularly fascinated with the idea of camouflage and predatory behaviour!... We made our own camouflaged praying mantis display, went looking in our garden at kindy with magnifying glasses to see if we could find some more, and discovered a lot of new facts along the way! Now we are waiting for the cocoon to deliver us some babies!
