18.01.2022 Covid has been tough, particularly on small business. We know that many at the Waterfront benefited from being able to sell a takeaway drink with a meal. The B...each Club was a fantastic initiative and has been a wonderful addition. I've certainly enjoyed taking my family down to relax on the lawn. Unfortunately recent legal advice to the Director of Liquor Licensing has led to him ceasing the use of his emergency powers. This has happened in a much faster time frame than anyone expected. I just want to assure everyone that addressing this is an absolute priority for me and for the Government. I've been in contact with the Chief Minister, the Minister for Alcohol Policy, the Waterfront Corporation, the Licensees and the Director. We are working hard and I'm hopeful that by next week, we will be able to clearly explain the pathway through this. The Waterfront is one of my favourite spots in this great city, it's embraced by locals and tourists alike. We'll never stop working with the businesses down there to make sure it only gets better.

17.01.2022 AT MIDNIGHT TONIGHT, THE ABILITY TO ENJOY A COCKTAIL, A BEER, OR A WINE WITH YOUR TAKEAWAY MEAL AT YOUR HOME IS GONE. This seems like funny timing when Brisbane is in a lock down and the risk of an outbreak has not gone, nor has the risk of lockdowns up here. Out of COVID we saw some change and adaption, which was really positive.... 1- was NTG made decision quickly. Group think was gone, we were adaptable and agile. 2- A licence variation, introduced with COIVD to local restaurant and bar liquor licences, to be able to sell a couple of takeaway cocktails, bottle of wine or a few beers with a takeaway meal. The licence variation allowed us to deliver not just amazing food and beverages to suit but a live local musician to play to you in your own home, or in your street, on your roof, in your lounge room, or back yard. As of midnight, this is no longer possible. Alas we will always have Paris. We would like to thank all the amazing musician and staff who helped make this possible and most importantly YOU the people of Darwin who supported us. Peace Out
