24.01.2022 Wahoo! A perfect drive and a clean sheet at Caboolture this afternoon! Well done Krishan, you certainly set a very high standard for the week. #lbdrivertraining #passfirstgo #manual #auto #bmw #standoutfromthecrowd

22.01.2022 4 STEP CAR CAREWASH - CLEAN - PERFECT - PROTECT -MAINTAIN Proper car care is important whether your car is brand new or ten years old. The steps are the same, although you may have to spend a little more time on an older car that requires removal of defects like oxidation, swirl or scratches.... Many think that all the steps are not necessary on a new car but your long term protection depends on properly preparing and protecting your car. You wouldn't want to put your paint sealant over bonded contamination or get a less than perfect shine would you? 1. WASH - Thoroughly wash your car to remove loose dirt and grime. The first thing you need to know is that the car washing procedure is the number one cause of swirl marks! Don't worry, this can be avoided by using high a quality car wash shampoo, wash mitt and microfiber drying towels. Using two buckets - one for your car wash solution and the other for rinsing your mitt is also very helpful when it comes to avoiding swirl. 2. CLEAN Clean your paint with detailing clay to remove bonded surface contamination that is stuck to the paint and is not removed with normal washing. Many people think that a new car does not need to be clayed. This is not necessarily true! Contamination doesnt care if your car is old or new. Even though your car is new it has been subjected to many types environments. Claying your car with a detail clay or using the Ultima Elastrofoam Cleaning System is not a substitute for polishing your paint, it is a process to be done prior to the polishing process to remove surface contaminants that make your paint rough. When your paint is rough, dirt and grime tend to stick and build up creating even more problems. The simple task of claying will remove the contamination and prepare your car for the polishing and protecting steps. 3. POLISH Remove defects in your paint, staining and enhance overall shine. More than likely if your car is new you won't need to remove defects unless your car has been on the lot for a while and been stricken with that dreaded swirl from poor washing procedures by the dealership. This can also be created by dealership detailers who use machine polishers incorrectly. 4.PROTECT Protect the paint surface from harsh environmental elements and prevent premature aging with a car wax, paint protectant or paint sealant. Many new car owners look at the clearcoat as a protective layer that shields their car against harm. This is simply not true. The clearcoat is a tough clear paint that is there to protect your color coat and add depth in shine. It is not a super high tech protectant, it is just clear paint and needs to be protected just like the older single stage paints.

21.01.2022 Recently, I have had a number of people ask me why I choose to teach in a BMW. BMW is one of the worlds leading auto manufacturers when it comes to blending performance and luxury. Along the way, the brand has created some truly legendary, unique, and cutting-edge vehicles. In truth, BMWs are some of the safest cars in the world, and this has been proven time and time again with results published by different testing authorities around the world. So, I wanted to choose a c...ar for my students with the knowledge that we would both be safe, should the worse occur. BMW also provides the design and mechanicals so that the driver experiences the pleasure of being connected through the vehicle to the road while being comfortable and relaxed, and they do a very good job. As a learner, it is crucial to understand how our cars react to different surfaces and terrain. With this, students then develop a better understanding of how to control the car and how it handles. One of the first things you notice when driving a BMW is the steering. It has a light (but not effortless) feel to the steering effort and there is feedback from the road surface through the steering gear so students can feel what the tyres are doing. BMW places an emphasis on rear-wheel that provides a sporty feel and allows the driver to control the car with throttle application. A BMW is also a statement. With the influx of driving schools here in Brisbane, it is easy to be confused as to which is which. Typically, small hatches such as Suzuki Swifts and Toyota Corollas are used, allowing learners to understand the basics of driving on our roads. And, while they are reliable cars, does it give them the knowledge they need come the time they decide to buy a high performance, luxury rear wheel drive vehicle? Understandably, many learners don't feel comfortable on our roads because of the general attitude towards cars displaying L plates. By choosing to drive in a BMW, students feel as though other road users show more patience and respect, allowing them to take the time to learn at their pace without the pressure from those more experienced. Planning has also gone into the LB DRIVER TRAINING car styling so that our Learner's feel a sense of class. A statement piece gives students a sense of pride and excitement. So, why not make learning to drive an enjoyable experience? Choose LB DRIVER TRAINING.

20.01.2022 What a start to the day! Perfect drive this morning at Greenslopes Peyton, I am so proud of you!! #nailedit

20.01.2022 To the following students who passed their test first go over the last few weeks . . . MATTHEW COLEY LAURA DARVALL MITCHELL SWANSON ... JOHNNY BLUNDEN ALEX JOHNSON See more

20.01.2022 To the red P plater in the white Toyota ute following me inbound along Old Cleveland Road this afternoon . . . Tailgating, as close as you were, isn't a wise choice. I was in the left hand lane, traveling at the correct speed limit. If for some reason, my speed was inconvenient to you, changing to the right hand lane to over take is always an option. For at least a kilometer, you felt the need to stay at a distance where at 80kms/hour, I could not see your headlights. Well,... the joke is on you my friend. You are lucky that I was driving, however, if it had have been a student driving you may have found yourself in a fair bit of trouble. Students are not always aware of the pressure they are placing on a brake pedal. Not only would you have written you car off, you would have received a fine for driving too close and your insurance would have to pay out approximately five times the amount of a normal road accident because this is a driver training vehicle. This is turn would also make it difficult for you next time you wish to insure you car as at the time of a possible accident, you were under 25, a red P plater and it would have been your fault. Now, do you think it was a smart idea following as close as you were? If you are lucky enough to hold a Queensland driver's license, don't abuse it. You impress noone. If I see you again, I am more than happy to explain this to you on the side of the road in person.

17.01.2022 GROUND CLEARANCE AND RUNNING CLEARANCE MODIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Recently I have had students ask me if their cars are of legal height. So, to be clear, the following rules apply. Ground clearance of a vehicle, refers to the minimum distance to the ground from a point on the underside of the vehicle, except a point on a tyre, wheel, wheel hub and brake backing plate. ... Running clearance, of a vehicle, means the distance from the surface on which an unladen vehicle is standing to the lowest point on the vehicle excluding unsprung mass. Vehicles built to comply with the Third Edition ADRs must comply with the ground clearance requirements of ADR 43. Vehicles built to comply with ADR 43/04 must also comply with the running clearance requirements. All other motor vehicles with more than 3 wheels must have a ground clearance of: 1. At least 100mm at any point within 1 metre of an axle; and 2. At least one-thirtieth of the distance between the centres of adjacent axles at the midpoint between them. 3. At any other point at least the distance that allows the vehicle to pass over a peak in the road with a gradient on either side of 1:15, if the wheels of 1 axle of the vehicle are on the slope on one side of the peak and the wheels of the next axle are on the slope on the other side. So, before you decide to have your car dropped, save yourself the expensive penalty and make sure it is in keeping with these legal requirements.

15.01.2022 Wahoo! Awesome drive this morning Jayden, well done passing your manual driving test first go! #nailedit #lbdrivertraining #passfirstgo #licensing

14.01.2022 STEERING TECHNIQUES CORNERING IN A CAR Although cornering in a car may require as little as a turn of the steering wheel, there is a little more to it than that. For a learner with little experience, its often difficult to establish where the kerb on the left side of the car is in relation to the car. This is where reference points or markers are beneficial. Its beneficial to use reference markers for many aspects of the learning to drive procedure.... A reference marker can be placed where the curb enters the car at the top of the dashboard (a small sticker will do, or simply remember where the kerb comes into the car) to establish the correct distance the car is from the kerb whilst cornering. If the kerb goes over to the right too much past the reference marker, youre getting too close to the kerb, too far left and youre too far away. This reference marker is also ideal to establish an ideal distance from the kerb whilst traveling in a straight line also.

13.01.2022 An awesome finish to a huge weekend in QTCC at the Willowbank 2 Days of Thunder. LB DRIVER TRAINING took the lead on the grid with two of the top five cars on the track. Karl Begg, driver of the red and white BMW E36 took out 1st place overall for round 3 of the Queensland Touring Car Championship! A few personal bests by both Justin Anthony in the green BMW E36 and Glenn Trigger in the heavily modified BMW E30 S54. Showing exceptional car control, these boys overcame a few... hurdles over the weekend and powered through. Excited to see the LB DRIVER TRAINING sponsored cars kill it in the next round!

13.01.2022 SHOULD YOU APPLY FOR A HIGH-POWERED VEHICLE EXEMPTION? If you are caught driving a high-powered vehicle and you do not hold an exemption, you will receive a fine and demerit points. A car manufactured on or after 1st January 2010 is a high-powered vehicle if it has a power-to-weight ratio of more than 130kW/tan engine modification that must be approved under section 13 of theTransport Operations (Road Use ManagementVehicle Standards and Safety) Regulation 2010 (PDF, 831KB).... The power-to-weight ratio is calculated by dividing the cars maximum engine power in kilowatts (kW) by the tare mass and multiplying the result by 1,000. High-powered (performance) vehicle restrictions apply to P1 and P2 licence holders under the age of 25. If you are not sure whether or not your car is P1 or P2 approved, go to the Queensland Transport website and follow the prompts.

13.01.2022 DRIVING IS AN ART, SHARE OUR ROADS. Frequent reports of road rage encompass a broad range of unacceptable retaliations to road user behaviour from rude gestures or swearing to assault or murder, and the normalisation of road rage is believed to contribute to the increase in this type of behaviour. How drivers behave can have a dramatic effect on reactions from other road users. Therefore, care, courtesy and awareness are all very important attributes of a safe road user.... Promoting courtesy among road users should therefore result in a reduction of aggressive driver behaviour. Here are some ways that you can promote safe driving on our roads; 1. Remain calm and relaxed 2. Drive defensively and make allowances for errors by others 3. Adopt a share the road rather than a me first approach to driving 4. Leave unpleasant encounters or delays in the past and concentrate on the rest of the trip 5. Dont try to police other road users behaviours. Drive in a way that makes sense to others, share our roads.

System of car control will be taught, so that you can be one step ahead of the practical driving test examiner on the day of your test. DEFENSIVE DRIVING: Learn the art of driving your car to save lives, time, and money, in spite of the conditions around you and the actions of others. 10.01.2022 What an awesome way to finish this chapter of my life as a driver trainer. I am so proud of you both for passing first go. Two passes on one day is brilliant! Congratulations again to Isaak and Jess!! Again, I thank you all for your support over the last few years, it has been an extremely rewarding way to spend my days. The good news is, Polly Bentley, a friend and past colleague of mine has purchased the car and will be taking over in the new year. She is a reputable driver trainer, using similar methods to the way I teach. She is, in my opinion, one of the few instructors that I have come across that has the passion and the dedication that I do. So, be sure to look out for the car in the new year! I wish you and your families a safe and happy Christmas and New Year.

10.01.2022 ITEMS YOU SHOULD ALWAYS KEEP IN YOUR CAR . . RAGS: Keep a clean, lint-free rag in your vehicle to wipe your oil or transmission dipstick or to clean the inside of your windshield if it clouds up. SPARE PARTS: If you replace your spark plugs, save the old ones if theyre not too worn. Carry them in your boot-compartment toolbox for quick replacements if necessary. The same goes for old air filters. A couple of extra nuts, bolts, and screws also are useful to have on hand.... EMERGENCY PARTS: Carry a spare set of windshield wiper blades, an extra radiator cap, and extra fuses. If you plan to travel in hot weather in remote regions, top and bottom radiator hoses are a good idea. Although theyre more costly, its good to carry extra accessory belts. SPARE TYRE: Check your spare tyre often. Its humiliating to find that your spare is flat, just when you need it. JUMPER CABLES: One of the most common automotive malfunctions is the loss of power to start the engine, either from an old or faulty battery or from leaving the headlights on by mistake. FIRST-AID KIT: Keep a first-aid kit in your vehicle. Choose one thats equipped with a variety of bandages, tweezers, surgical tape, antibiotic ointment, something soothing for burns, and a good antiseptic.

08.01.2022 Due to unforseen circumstances, I regret to inform you that as of NOVEMBER 14th, LB DRIVER TRAINING will no longer be in operation here in Brisbane. As some of you may already be aware, Glenn has been posted to remote Queensland for work so I will be embarking on this new adventure with him! I would like to thank all of my past and present students for your support over the last five years, it has certainly been a rewarding experience. I have been extremely lucky to have had ...the ongoing support from you and your families since starting the business. I am aware that there are a number of you that will be test ready early in the new year so I will be passing on the details of a few very skilled instructors to take over both in manual and automatic. LB DRIVER TRAINING will still be in operation until this date to ensure an easy transition and for those who have practical tests booked. I wish you all the very best and do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have. Leah

05.01.2022 DRINK DRIVING PENALTIES Being charged with a drink driving offence can be a very traumatic experience. For a lot of people it is their first taste of the criminal justice system and they have no idea of what is likely to occur at court after being arrested for, or charged with, drink driving. LOW RANGE DRINK DRIVING... Driving a vehicle while over the "general alcohol limit" but not over the "middle alcohol limit", commonly called low-range drink driving, is the charge which the Police will lay against a person who is found driving a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of over 0.05% but under 0.10%. Low-range drink driving carries a maximum penalty of 3 months imprisonment and/or a 14Penalty Unit fine for a first offence. MID RANGE DRINK DRIVING Driving a vehicle while over the "middle alcohol limit" but not over the "high alcohol limit", commonly called mid-range drink driving, is the charge which the Police will lay against a person who is found driving a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of over 0.10% but under 0.15%. Mid-range drink driving is the second most serious drink driving offence under Queensland law and carries a maximum penalty of 6 months imprisonment and/or a 20penalty unit fine for a first offence. HIGH RANGE DRINK DRIVING Driving a vehicle while over the "high alcohol limit", commonly called high range drink driving or driving under the influence ("DUI" for short), is the charge which the Police will lay against a person who is found driving a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of over 0.15%. High range drink driving is the most serious drink driving offence under Queensland law and carries a maximum penalty of 9 months imprisonment and/or a 28 Penalty Unitfine for a first offence. So, think twice before getting in the car if you have been drinking. Drink driving is a serious offense.

02.01.2022 Do you know your Phonetic Alphabet? If you find yourself in a situation on our roads and you need to report the registration of an offending car, it will help if you can repeat it to emergency services using this technique. The Phonetic Alphabet improves comprehension for the person on the end of the phone, making it easier to do their job.

01.01.2022 Finally!!!!! Well done Laura, extremely proud of you!!!! A well deserved pass in Wynnum this afternoon . . .
