25.01.2022 How timely to read this quote from a very powerful woman as women as around Australia took to the streets in an act of leadership to demand change. "Women have a tremendous amount of power that comes with the roles we play in society, far more power than we ever had before. We cannot wield this power positively without understanding our strengths and owning them. At the same time, we have to appreciate that so many of the remaining obstacles to women’s advancement most blata...ntly, perhaps, the sexual harassment in the workplace that has become an important topic of conversationare all about power. We must each have the courage to stand up for what is right. We also need to rediscover the power of working collectively and become adept at using social media to speak with one voice. The challenge for many of us remains the interpersonal moments, when we have to risk being called tough, aggressive, even difficult. Our only response must be to continue to viewand usepower positively." From: Not for the Faint of Heart: Lessons in Courage, Power, and Persistence by Ambassador Wendy R. Sherman #March4Justice

23.01.2022 We dived into how to lead meaningful interventions (particularly in relation to climate change) during our October Governor's Leadership Foundation session on growth industries and sustainability. Certainly a topic of complexity given this latest poll and our Government's reluctance to be ambitious regarding climate change action. If you would like to learn how to lead with purpose and make impactful change, apply now for the 2021 program https://www.leadersinstitute.com.au.../the-governors-leadershi Governor's Leadership Foundation Program Alumni

21.01.2022 Here's some research speaking our language and supporting our approach! "Being dragged in two different directions, simultaneously, should only create tension and stress. And yet some exciting and highly counter-intuitive research suggests that these conflicts can often work in our favour. "Over a series of studies, psychologists and organisational scientists have found that people who learn to embrace, rather than reject, opposing demands show greater creativity, flexibilit...y and productivity. The dual constraints actually enhance their performance. "The researchers call this a paradox mindset and there never be a better time to start cultivating it." 08.01.2022 An absolutely great article by Stan Grant on why 'R' shouldn't stand for reconciliation. It reminded us of the words of one of our indigenous leadership program participants - he said "reconciliation implies you were first friends..." At the Leaders Institute we are committed to improving relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. We've secured the support of Bank Australia for two scholarships for our Amplify Leadership Program and also from some generous philanthropists for our Northern Leaders Program. 06.01.2022 How can participating in the Governor's Leadership Foundation impact the way you lead? Here's a quote from one of this year's participants: "The GLF experience has taught me to take a step back, ask better questions, question my own assumptions and help others do the same. And to look into the system. By changing my leadership style, I've started to become more effective at realising change, and in my own small pond, see the ripple effect ... it's up to us to continue to create those ripples wherever we go".
