Grandpa left for war two weeks after they got married. Grandma waited patiently for his return. Papoo was robbed at his flour mill and murdered when my father was only four and Yaya cared for her three children as a single Mum in Greece. Came to Australia when Dad was 15. Yaya had an allergic reaction to penicillin when Dad was 17 and she passed away the day she was supposed to come out of hospital.
