They are examples of the explicit teaching at the beginning of a lesson, the teaching of essential skills necessary to be a skilled writer. These components include : - spelling, which may initially be phonetic,... - the structure of different types of sentences, including the grammatical knowledge necessary to create well structured sentences which feature imagery - imagery - and paragraph structures. Students need to be taught and given opportunities to practice the essential skills necessary to become writer’s.
