14.01.2022 SwimSAFER Week is the opportunity to celebrate all the benefits learning to swim offers: Confidence in the water Fun with family and friends Learning to float Knowing how to react if you fall into water... Being comfortable submerged in water Learning how to safely breathe while in the water Improved fitness As part of SwimSAFER Week this year we are launching the Swim It Forward campaign. Our research shows 55% of Australian children are not currently in lessons, with a major reason being affordability. This year 12 little ones under five drowned. Learning to swim is a major preventative measure parents can take. Our aim is to help more children receive this vital education. For just $20 (tax deductible) or the cost of one swimming lesson, you will be helping those most at risk of drowning. The more children in lessons, the lower the risk of drowning. 14.01.2022 55% of children are not in swimming lessons, yet 53% do another extracurricular activity instead. Only one sport is lifesaving and that is swimming. It is one of the top drowning prevention measures! During SwimSAFER Week share this message to remind your friends and family how vital this skill is. Not all children are as lucky as yours they do not get to learn the water safety skills that could save their life. We did some research and it showed over 50% of Australian child...ren are not learning to swim. Water familiarisation is one of the key drowning prevention measures, yet so many children are not receiving the skill. The main reason for this is affordability. We want to see a shift in this terrible statistic, so we have created Swim It Forward. Swim it Forward Mission - to save lives by making learn to swim accessible to as many children as possible across Australia. To help donate the cost of just ONE lesson to help a child learn a lifeaving skill - donate at https://asf.org.au/projects/ascta/swim-it-forward/ Come and join us for swimming lessons at Learn to Swim Victoria by contacting 03 9455 1330 or [email protected] to learn more about our progression and the benefits of swimming in our 33degree MagnaPool all year round. #swimsafer365days #learntoswim #swimitforward #watersafety #swimschools #swimming #SwimAustralia

02.01.2022 Children missing swimming lessons and a shortage of instructors has heightened fears of arising death toll in Victoria, not just this summer but for years to come. Learning to Swim is a lifesaving skill that every children should know. Knowing how to swim is a key factor in reducing the risk of childhood drowning. We recommend children begin the learn to swim process from as early as three months. The earlier you start water familiarisation the better, as the skills learned... build upon each other at each stage of development. At Learn to Swim Victoria, we recognise the developments and our curriculum teaches lifelong skills throughout our program. It is vital for parents in Australia to ensure their children have the appropriate knowledge and confidence to be safe around water and be equipped with the skills to help them in an emergency, Brendon Ward CEO Swim Australia SwimSAFER Week is an opportunity for parents to re-educate themselves about why learning to swim is proven to be one of the top drowning prevention measures. All physical activity is important, but we want parents to view swimming as a non-negotiable skill their child must learn, especially if they are under five. No other activity has the same lifesaving lessons as learning to swim does. It’s a matter of safety. As a private swim school operating a Magnapool for a healthier experience, join the SwimSafer Week conversation and learn to swim by contacting us 03 9455 1330 or [email protected] Learning to swim is the best drowning prevention we have - so let's have some fun. #swimsafer365days #learntoswim #swimitforward #watersafety #swimschools #swimming #SwimAustralia
