24.01.2022 Inspired by environmentalist Greta Thunberg, this 12-year-old wants Thailand to ban single-use plastic bags by 2020. The average Thai uses 8 plastic bags every day. Read the story here: https://sc.mp/da1zx

24.01.2022 Big logs like this are important for ecosystems as they provide great habitat for insects or small rodents and when they break down they add vital nutrients int...o soil systems where more plants and trees can grow in the future. If were building campfires we want to leave these big logs and instead collect firewood with the Four Ds in mind: Dead, Down, Distant, & Dinky. Dinky means small. The width of your wrist and the length of your forearm is a great guide to collecting firewood in the outdoors where wood gathering is allowed and fires are legal. #EnjoyYourWorld #LeaveNoTrace See more

20.01.2022 As we watch the news showing the devastation and loss from the Californian wildfires, the article below highlights the risks we have here in Australia and how important our message is to minimize campfire impact here also.

20.01.2022 Have a guess how long rubbish will last in the environment, you might be very surprised!

20.01.2022 Too much plastic is ending up in our oceans and rivers. When I talk to kids in schools, it’s one of the things they always talk to me about. We have to clean u...p our waterways and we’re getting serious about making that happen. Today we have introduced landmark new laws in Parliament that see Australia take responsibility for the waste we produce and bans the export of our unprocessed plastic, paper, glass and used tyres. This legislation complements our $1 billion plan to turbocharge Australia’s recycling capacity, which will create 10,000 new jobs and divert more than 10 million tonnes of waste from landfill.

19.01.2022 This week is #MentalHealthWeek in Australia. The human body and brain have evolved to have a positive reaction to natural patterns (forests, seasons, tides, day and night) so even just being outside can make a subtle shift in our moods, returning the body to its normal circadian rhythm, helping to reduce stress. So get Adventuring! #LeaveNoTrace #AdventureTime

19.01.2022 To help out our native bird friends it is recommended that our domestic cats are desexed, have bells on their collars and are kept indoors or in a cat run. #LeaveNoTrace #NativeWildlife #UniqueAustralia

17.01.2022 **TURN ON SOUND** The creators of Wallace and Gromit have worked with us to raise awareness with this video. Six out of seven sea turtle species are threatened... with extinction. 16.01.2022 Lets Go Australia!

16.01.2022 Uncontrolled Pets Can be More Harmful Than You Might Think This spring a Guadalupe fur seal pup, recognized as a threatened species, was attacked and killed by an off-leash dog in a California National Park. Visitors who saw what was happening tried to get the dog off the seal by kicking sand, said park spokesperson Jennifer Stock. But it was too little too late; by the time the dog let go and rescuers arrived on scene the seal pup was dead. An examination by The Marine Mamma...l Center confirmed the cause of death was the dog attack. Its stories like this that Leave No Trace works every day to prevent. Whether teaching tens of thousands of children every year how to keep wildlife wild, or conducting and distributing research that results in fewer human-wildlife conflicts, Leave No Trace is working on critical initiatives that can save our wild creatures. Please make sure your pet, whether it is a cat or dog does not affect our treasured wildlife!
