25.01.2022 We have received a directive from Tennis West (below) to cease all forms of tennis activity at the club immediately. Instruction to cease, temporarily, tennis activity in Western Australia Under the WA Governments Preventative Restriction of Activities Direction a person must refrain from undertaking or engaging in an affected activity. An affected activity includes a gathering of two or more people, who do not ordinarily reside at the same premises, for the purposes of par...ticipating in a sporting activity. As a result of these new measures, Tennis West is advising that all Tennis Clubs, Club Activities and Coaching Activities must cease operations immediately: - All tennis clubs and centres are to close until further notice - All tennis programmes and coaching be cancelled, including one-on-one coaching - All club, association and social play be cancelled until further notice - All public court hire bookings to cease Please note that under the Public Health Act 2016 (WA), it is an offence for a person to fail, without reasonable excuse, to comply with any of these directions, punishable by a fine of up to $20,000 for individuals, and $100,000 for bodies corporate.

25.01.2022 As that Perry person would say, shake it off ... winter, that is! This Saturday we kick off summer season 20/21 with our official club opening day. We welcome all down to the club for the afternoon with social tennis from 1:30pm, afternoon tea and formalities around 3pm and drinks later. The bar will be open and we’ll also be firing up the barbie for a free snag sizzle after play. Everyone welcome - members and non-members.... We are dedicating the day to fund raising for the Leukaemia Foundation in memory of Michael Harris. Please make a donation to play.

21.01.2022 ANZAC Day 2020 is near. This year the day will be unlike any other in most of our lifetimes. We will pay our respects - not in crowded ceremonies - but in more personal ways, reflecting current circumstances. For the LTC family it is heartbreaking that we will not be staging Diggers Cup 2020. It has come to define our club and its volunteer spirit. We will greatly miss our community of tennis friends in and around Perth and WA.... We donate part proceeds from Diggers Cup to a veterans charity. 20.01.2022 On this Perth winters morn we were very fortunate to host key stakeholders supporting our club with funding to facilitate a major upgrade of court lighting and the introduction of Tennis Australias Book-A-Court technology. Representatives of the WA Government, Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, City of Vincent and Tennis West joined members of our committee for conversation, morning tea and some Kodak moments. Local, accessible recreation faci...lities make communities a better place to be. In our inner city catchment that means having courts available at night and at times when people want to play. With the introduction of cost and energy efficient LED lighting and the seamless Book-A-Court system, our club will have enhanced amenity and access. 08.01.2022 Dear LTC members and friends It is hard to believe that just over a month ago we were shaking hands at the net, gathering round tables in social groups and busily preparing for Diggers Cup. My, how our world has changed.... This new world has upended all our lives and it has upended so many of the things we love doing. For most of us, playing tennis and participating in our club environment are part of our DNA. Its leaving a big void. The guidelines and directives around the ongoing operation of our club are out of our hands at the moment. While the the latest bulletin from Tennis West opened the door for some limited form of access and play, these guidelines are entirely subject to directives issued by local government. In our case, the City of Vincent has issued the following communications ... "In response to Federal Government restrictions to stop the spread of COVID-19, all club sporting activities in the City of Vincent must cease until 25 April 2020. This includes training and gameplay." While we would like to re-open the club, we are mindful of our very important mutual health and safety obligations to members, club users and the wider community. The committee will keep you informed of any developments via the newsletter and social media. In the meantime, the grass courts will be prepared early for winter - weather permitting. And, behind the scenes, a lot of work will occur to studiously manage the clubs finances. Beyond the club, I would urge everyone to do the right thing and adhere to all government directives. There will be further challenges ahead and we should be prepared to adapt to this new normal, for however long it lasts. If we all do the right thing, we will come out of this sooner rather than later. Please stay home, stay safe, keep the wine fridge stocked and watch out for further updates.
