25.01.2022 A scratchy, sniffy, stinky, whiffy book. Smellies Scratch n Smell books show that books arent just made for one sense. Books can come alive when you use your sight, your sense of touch and your sense of smell. A wonderfully icky touch-and-feel book with every kind of silly monster imaginable! Monsters can be afraid of the dark and might enjoy dressing up in pink tutus or even love getting covered in icky, sticky boogies. This book has fantastic touch-and-feel elements on every page, which the playgroup children took absolute advantage of, including scratch-and-sniff and glow-in-the-dark features, this book was very amusing and delighed our youngsters who love all things yucky and icky.

21.01.2022 These gorgeous photos were taken yesterday morning before the rooms seperated, in the Playgroup room, where we all arrive and are greeted before seperating into our age appropriate playrooms shortly after. During this time there is a mixture of ages, from babies through to older Kindy children. Just look at the nurturing, compasion and empathy embedded in these photo's. Playing with or next to an older child can be an amazing event for your baby. Most babies are fascinated by... bigger kids who appear so much more capable yet aren't as large and intimidating as grown-ups can be. Observing a slightly older child can help your baby pick up vocabulary words and new skills as he strives to imitate his playmate. And bigger children (preschool-age and up) typically love showing off their knowledge to an adoring audience. To keep everyone safe and entertained, here are some suggestions of some activities that your little one and his older sibling/friend will both enjoy. Here are a few to try: Show and tell. Have the older child "read" books (pop-ups or other interactive titles work well) or flashcards to the baby, or draw pictures and then talk about them.Song and dance. Whether they listen to it or make it themselves (with simple rhythm instruments or household items), music has nearly universal appeal. Run and race. If your baby is crawling, encourage the older child to get down on the floor with him. They can race across the room (on all fours!) or maneuver through an obstacle course of pillows and cardboard boxes. Stack and crash. Blocks are perfect playthings for kids at different developmental levels especially if you challenge the older child to build something that the baby can knock down. (If the older one wants to build a more permanent creation, help him find a place out of the baby's reach.)

20.01.2022 There is no better way to celebrate a Pyjama Party than watching the rain fall outside but we are all cozy, warm and snug inside. Whats a pyjama party without warm fluffy pancakes and warm milo, yummy. For morning tea, the children served themselves, they topped thier own pancakes with their choice of pancake condiments. 19.01.2022 This week we had Anouks families visit with 2 of thier very tame chickens, Pinky Nouky Elsa and her Brunehilde. The chickens were cuddled, smooched and carried, feed spinach, taken for walks around the playground, climbed up and down the stairs to the slide and even inspected the childrens fruit and vegetable gardens, which Im sure looked very tasty to the chickens. The children then settled to listen to a gorgeous littlle story, one of Anouks favourite stories, "Whitney an...d Britney - Chicken Divas", read by Anouk and her Daddy. Pinky Nouky Elsa, Brunehilde and their friends Milly and Tilly layed 12 fresh eggs for the children, which the children will be using next week to make banana pancakes. 19.01.2022 During the months of June and July the children at the centre have been not just "learning" about the lifecycle of the Monarch Butterfly, but literally, "observing" its lifecycle right within their classrooms. This experience has seen the children follow the once tiny caterpillars through to beautiful butterflies, right here in our classroom. Once the butterflies emerged from thier cocoons, they spent a couple of days on their special plant, drying and strengthening thier delicate wings, before being ready for their release. There are still caterpillars and cocoons amongst the branches and leaves, that are yet to complete thier lifecycle, so we will continue to watch and learn.

18.01.2022 PACKING A HEALTHY LUNCHBOX. Life is hectic. Our busy, fast paced schedules often mean there are just not enough hours in the day. Finding time to shop for, prepare and pack nutritious, appealing lunches for our children can be a major challenge for many parents. Children can be fussy and coming up with new and interesting foods that arent full of sugar that wont get thrown in the bin can be tricky. But the importance of packing a healthy lunchbox is immeasurable. Children a...re more alert and focused when theyre fueled with healthy food. Higher levels of sustained concentration mean that children can more readily retain information and therefore learn. Whats in their lunchbox can make up to a third of their daily nutrients and provides all of the energy they need to get through an action packed day. https://www.woolworths.com.au///healthier-lunch-box-ideas See more

It explores both the sounds and rhythm of the rain, and has lively actions as well. 09.01.2022 Painting with toy cars is a fun art process and sensory experience for children. The car tyres make interesting patterns in the paint and children can learn about colour mixing as the cars move from one colour to another. Whether you use large construction site vehicles, small racing cars or even remote controlled cars kids are sure to love this activity. For even more fun, complete the activity by turning a large bowl of soapy water into a car wash.

06.01.2022 This morning the children and Educators of Lefroy Road Childcare Center had the privilege of hosting a morning tea for Josh Wilson MP, acknowledging Early Learning Matters week. The children were delighted to show Josh thier room and the educational environment currently set up in the Kindy Room. The children eagerly educated Josh about butterflies ... and as Josh learnt very quickly ... "they are not just butterflies, they are Monarch Butterflies" (Luke). Next we all gather...ed on the mat. Josh gifted Lefroy Road Childcare Center an Australian Flag and an Aboriginal Flag. The children had chosen a couple of songs they wanted to sing for Josh, so he bravely sat through sevral songs performed at varing tones, pitches and tempos. And then Josh entertained the children with his beanbag juggling. Before Josh had arrived the children had prepared platters of fruit, picklets and fairybread. Everyone enjoyed morning tea together. The Educators had the opportunity to speak with Josh about current industry topics. Following morning tea, the children took Josh outside especially to show him thier Vegetable Gardens. The children caught Josh up to speed on growing your own veggies. Josh kindly helped the children collect the green caterpillars from the broccoli and the kale.

06.01.2022 This lovely idea was forwarded to me by a community member who thought this gorgeous idea would tie in nicely with our Lifecycles curriculum that we have running at the moment. We are going to include this experience into our curriculum over the next couple of weeks. If you have any of these hard clear plastic CD covers that you no longer want ... we would gladly take them of your hands to use for this experience.
06.01.2022 These little learners from our Kindy Room are getting an introduction to early writing skills while building letter recognition with this "letter A" tracing worksheet. Drawing lines is an important prewriting skill and an essential first step in learning how to write letters, which is why this worksheet gives children plenty of practice tracing diagonal lines before having them trace an uppercase letter A. This type of activity also provides the children with the opportunity to practice thier pencil grip, hence gaining control over the pencil. Below is a link to other printable worksheets in this alphabet series. https://www.education.com//article/practice-tracing-a-prek/
05.01.2022 Extension on a Whale watching adventure. The whales are here. A very ecxited young toddler was eager to share his whale watching experidnce with his friends and his educators. His Mummy linked us to the fb page that showed us all the wonderful pictures of the whales frolicking around their charter boat in the waters off Dunsborough. "Can you make me whale" he asked the Educator. He helped the Educactor roll the playdough into a somewhat shape of an Orca, which he then built into his whale, adding " eyes", "a nose", and "finns". A friend soon joined him, building a Blue Whale, "I've seen whales aswell" he said.

03.01.2022 Dunbi the Owl, this book is based on a story told by Daisy Utemorrah of the Worora tribe to Aboriginal children living in Derby, Western Australia.
