05.01.2022 ***2019 West Australian Pro Wrestling Awards*** WOMEN'S WRESTLER OF THE YEAR Lena Kross ... Lena Kross takes out this award for the 2nd year in a row (the only winner to repeat from last year). She also had the largest share of the vote of any winner on the ballot with 30.4%. (Though the Runner-Up drew 25.7% of the vote, the sort of percentage that has won other categories.) Lena has followed up her breakout year of 2018 with further success. Returning from a broken collarbone at the start of 2019; Lena began to put together a near-perfect record in her home promotion of New Horizons Pro Wrestling (NHPW) Perth Australia. The major achievement of Lena's year was her victory in the Global Conflict tournament in May. With her victory over Nicole Savoy and Mercedes Martinez, Lena became the first ever WA based wrestler to be the Indygurlz Australia Champion. Lena has followed that win with title defences against the likes of Erika Reid, Tenielle Dashwood, Brandi Lauren and Su Yung. She finished her year with a successful title defence against Hiroyo Matsumoto and a count-out loss to living legend Meiko Satomura. Up next for Lena as Indygurlz Champion is a title defence against MCW Women's Champion Steph De Lander. This will be Lena Kross' chance to make up for her prior loss to the Python Powerhouse. Lena has also begun to break out nationally. In 2019 she debuted for both Showdown Wrestling and Future Wrestling Australia. Her biggest achievement interstate would be her debut at The Thornbury Theatre for Melbourne City Wrestling, where she took on her rival Avary on Australia's biggest wrestling stage. Lena Kross is a deserving back-to-back winner of the WAPW Women's Wrestler of the Year Award. 467 total votes Winner: Lena Kross 142 votes (30.2%) Runner Up: Stella Nyx - Professional Wrestler 120 votes (25.7%) 3rd Place: Rosa Leigh 63 votes (13.5%) PAST WINNERS: 2009: Michelle 2012: Michelle K.
