25.01.2022 This is titled Ancestors, oil on linen, and is recent work by LSS artist Sergio Plata. Plata says this painting is inspired by the rites and human sacrifices that were performed by the Aztecs to keep the balance of the universe and prevent the end of the world. He goes on to say the cruelty of the Aztecs rites was natural and logical for them and that life is born of death.

20.01.2022 Our artists are showing showing some good courage through adversity that can be shared with everyone. Take artist Rachel Honnery, continually finding creative inspiration found in the everyday objects around her. Non-artists can do this too and find the relaxation and joy in art making while isolating at home.

02.01.2022 Remote Access is a solo exhibition by LSS artist Anthony Bartok not to be missed and showing at Galerie Pom Pom Sydney. Opening tomorrow Wednesday 11 November ’20 and running until the 6th of December Anthony Bartok’s work engineers everyday contradictions that critically jab at our current moment. In his new series of paintings and screen prints, incongruous couplings expose cross-pollinations of industry and individual at a time when notions of privacy have been turned insi...de out; when the melding of work life and home life is catapulting us into an age of remote access. Remote Access extends Bartok’s subversive, rolling exposition of twenty-first century existence, where individual foibles unfurl against a global backdrop. In his hybridised scenes, selfish ambition waltzes with contemporary capitalism; religion with industrial globalisation, personal intimacies with pervasive technology. Remote Access opens at Galerie Pom Pom 2 / 27-39 Abercrombie Street Chippendale NSW 2008 Sydney Australia. See more

02.01.2022 Re-Connect is an artist duo exhibition of work by LSS artist April Whiteand local Sydney artist Steve Starr. Opening next Wednesday night 6pm - 8pm 11 November ’20 ad running until the 22nd November at Scratch Art Space. 67 Sydenham Rd. Marrickville NSW. Re-Connect embarks on an abstract exploration of our place in the natural and urban landscape. Many of the works were created during the Covid-19 lockdown when the anthro-industrial world virtually stopped for a short while.... During the lockdown, in the absence of human presence, the natural world moved to fill the void created in our landscape. Re-Connections seeks to understand and twist out of shape the connection and often lack of connection, between the human and the natural world. Artists, April White and Steve Starr re-connect the with the fundamental truths, both personal and collective that are often hidden by our consciousness but are in plain sight in the natural world around us. While their practices and mediums are disparate and varied, the narrative thread welds these artists together as they interpret and represent the world around us and the systematic chaos of life in the time of Covid-19. www.scratchartspace.com www.artofaprilwhite.com www.stevestarr.org
