From Yugoslavia, Germany, Austria, New Zealand and Canada to the Prom Coast, India to Korumburra, the Philippines to Mirboo North and Sri Lanka and Scotland to Leongatha, we welcome you, we greet you and we embrace you. Congratulations to Leongatha Rotary who received the Australia Day award for event of the year. However you spend this weekend, remember just how fortunate we are to call Australia, and our region home. Thank you to all our service men and women who are away from family this Australia Day serving our country and assisting our fire affected communities. 14.01.2022 We are so excited to Announce that our Guest speaker this year is Rob Hunter. Rob was the school teacher kidnapped with 9 students at Wooreen in 1977. Rob has recently written a book regarding the kidnapping. Rob will also be doing book signing at the Leongatha Newsagent on the 25th of January.

Thank You to all the Nominees, councillors, local members of parliament, our guest speaker, our singer and all the wonderful volunteers across the many wonderful community groups we have in our amazing Leongatha and District area, we could never put on the celebrations without your amazing help and dedication

02.01.2022 Sorry for the late post everyone. We had an amazing Australia Day celebration with beautiful weather Saturday morning. Our guest speaker Rob Hunter gave us insight into his accounts on what happen on the dreadful day at wooreen in 1977 where himself and 9 students where kidnapped at gunpoint. We welcomed 3 new Australian citizens, with deputy mayor Alyson Skinner, Russel Broadbent and councillor Jim Fawcett presenting the citizens. We thanked and acknowledged nominees Pete Cl...arkson youth of the year, Em Barton and Christine Oliver Citizens of the year and the roatary club with community event of the year. Beautiful music by the ever talented Sth Gippsland Shire Brass Band and Ashley Geary. Amazing native flower arrangement from the Horticultural Society So many valuable and dedicated volunteers and local clubs help with organising the day and we cannot thank everyone enough. Thank you to our councillors Alyson Skinner, Ray Argento, james Fawcett plus local members Danny OBrien and Russel Broadbent for attending.
