24.01.2022 It’s official! DOMESTIC IS BACK Yes we were excited that the Splash roof was finally going to be fixed... but an unexpected 2020 means our basketball family has been off the court most of the year.... So... the roof restoration has been put on hold for a little bit to get everyone back on the court. Watch this space for a registration link! (We just need time to get it ready in the background.)

Our extended absence from domestic basketball due to facility maintenance might not be what we initially thought... In the mean time, rep kids, don’t forget there is training tomorrow night. 22.01.2022 A quick update for you all... Please know that representative basketball as we traditionally know it is gone for the 2020/21 season. At this point in time no indoor basketball is taking place even for juniors and Splash is not open.... Basketball Victoria will update us in advance for when the changes will take place on what we can and can’t do. There was some talk of a revised rep season to take place with a different format involving only gippsland based teams, but we have not heard any more regarding this proposal. In the mean time enjoy some backyard games of knock out! Watch this space, we will update you when we know more! Stay safe.

19.01.2022 With the new restrictions announced today, it is time to put a hold on community sport again. Despite the fact that restrictions do not come into place until Wednesday, the decision has been made to cancel all trainings this week, including Monday and Tuesday. Thank you for supporting Leongatha Basketball in our endeavours to bring a little bit of normality back into the kids lives. We hold our heads high knowing that we welcomed basketball back to our community for a shor...t time in the absolute safest of precautionary environment’s. The work load to get kids on the court was tenfold it has ever been before but it was absolutely worth it for the short time. Stay safe and see you when we see you!

17.01.2022 UPDATE: Teams are being made, coaches are being sought, fixtures are being created, tops are being allocated... our committee are being busy little bees in the backroud. Please sit tight, our volunteers all have families and jobs as well as putting in a mountain of work to get the comp going. Teams will be out by the weekend. Scroll back in our news feed to the 2nd of January on Instagram, Facebook or Team App if you want information on what night your age group plays and oth...er information. Always looking for volunteers coaches... especially those of you with U10 boys, we would love some more volunteers. Watch this space for fixtures and teams on the weekend.

16.01.2022 It’s getting close! There will be a link out next week for domestic registrations! It will be a short registration period so have your credit card ready!! To ensure you get access to the extended registration insurance that you paid for before Covid hit... you need to make sure you register using the SAME email address as last time! This contains important information on how to create your QR code to register your attendance at SPLASH. If you have any trouble or questions with this registration system please contact YMCA South Gippsland SPLASH directly.... See you all tomorrow!! E-MAIL: Good evening all, So for training tomorrow night Splash have asked all members to have a unique QR code to enter the facility for training. Some families may have this already if they swim there. Below is the link for you to be able to do this. If your child does not have a smartphone you can print it out for them to use. It will be scanned as they enter the building. Please understand that there may be a few hiccups tomorrow night and we will try and make it as smooth as we possibly can. 13.01.2022 Lightning Rep Basketball UPDATE If you tried out for the Lightning Rep teams please check your emails. Emails have gone out this afternoon in relation to squad selection. ... Please note that unless you are in an age group that had 10 or less try out, this is not STATE CHAMPS automatic selection. Many age groups had large numbers and emails have gone to those successful in training squad selection. State Champ teams will be discussed at your first couple of trainings. Training emails will come out in the next few days. Team App will be cleared of all of last years teams and ALL communication will go through Team App once the new teams are uploaded in the coming days. We will let you know when it is ready to go. 07.01.2022 UNDER 10 GIRLS We are excited to welcome you all to basketball this Thursday at 4pm. If you have any friends that would like to come along, please let us know as we would love a few more girls. ... As this age group have lost their introductory to basketball year in 2020 we hope to run skills for a couple of weeks and hope to have a full competition going for them all very soon. Regardless of skills or games, U10 girls will always be at 4pm on a Thursday. See you there!

We are all very fortunate to live in South Gippsland and have a flexibility and freedoms we have had. ... The committee of the LBA wish to give you an update of all that is going on basketball wise. It is a bit of a long post but please hang in there and read it as this will update for now and well into 2021. Below you will find: COVID UPDATES WHERE WE ARE HEADED IN RELATION TO RESTRICTIONS A DOMESTIC BASKETBALL UPDATE Please note this includes some important news and information regarding the SPLASH roof fix. A REPRESENTATIVE BASETBALL UPDATE THE AGE OLD CALL OUT FOR VOLUNTEERS - the reality is that more than ever, COVID means we need assistance to make things happen when we do come back. BASKETBALL AT THE MOMENT: Basketball is classified as an indoor contact sport. As a result we are sitting on what is classified as Orange 20. For those 18 years old and under Orange 20 means that they can participate in Indoor Non-Contact Training or Outdoor (contact) Competition or Training. For those 19 years and older basketball is currently classified Red-10 where you can participate in Outdoor Non-Contact Training only. CHIEF HEALTH OFFICER ON INDOOR SPORT: Last week the Victorian Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton said he was confident that indoor sport would start by the end of the year but cautioned that indoor spaces provided a much higher risk of transmission of coronavirus.
