25.01.2022 Grateful to have been included in the Bunbury Mail Women of Influence pages for International Women's Day this year. I hope all you deadly yorgas had a great day.

25.01.2022 Justin, our SWAMS Mental Health Coordinator gives us a breathing technique to help us through this week.

20.01.2022 It was a great privilege to attend the opening of this new facility. It is a great achievement that will benefit the Aboriginal Community of Newman and surrounds for years to come. Build it and they will come! We are still working very hard on advocating for a place to call home for our people here in the South West. This visit only further confirmed our need.

19.01.2022 I was grateful for the opportunity to present to the offices of the Deputy Premier, Treasuries and Regional Development early this week. This is an important step in the planning for the South West Aboriginal HealthHUB. I would like to thank Prof. Fiona Stanley, our Advisory Group, the City of Bunbury, UTS and our SWAMS Staff for their unwavering support for this major capital works project. #Closethegap #Noongar #Aplacetocallhome #SWAMS #OneStepCloser

16.01.2022 I recently met with the Silent Voices and Advocates (SIVA) group and the Commissioner of Corrective Services, Mr Tony Hassal. We met to discuss current issues surrounding prisons and the permitted attendance of Aboriginal inmates at family funerals. Opening the lines of communication between community, families and corrective services is imperative to ensure positive steps for our people and culture.

15.01.2022 Please read the below statement from Lesley Nelson, SWAMS CEO regarding COVID-19: In an effort to do our part in containing the outbreak of COVID-19 commonly kn...own as Coronavirus, SWAMS will be putting into place new procedures, policies and mandatory measures. This is an active, declared, global health pandemic and it must be taken seriously. We will still be operating and looking after the community and our clients, however ALL PATIENTS will now be stopped before entering any SWAMS Building. You will be asked a series of questions so we know where to direct you to next. This procedure is for your safety and for the safety of our staff. Please note, SWAMS do not have the facilities to actually test for this new virus. In Bunbury and Busselton all testing is done with a referral to the Path West facilities. In Collie and Manjimup, you do not need a referral from us, instead please present to the Emergency Department at the local hospital. In Collie and Manjimup, you will only be tested at this time if you have travelled. You will be asked to provide proof of travel e.g. boarding pass or a copy of your ticket. Please be aware that not everyone will be tested. At this time, you will only be tested if you meet the criteria for testing like if you have travelled. We ask patients and the community to be kind and understanding of all new procedures across the WA health sector. Please listen to your doctors and staff, we are here on the front line, trying to help you and your families. Furthermore, unfortunately we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel all SWAMS programs, school visits and events until further notice. We ask that you also reconsider your social needs at this time. Please practice social distancing. Please protect our Elders and vulnerable community members (those with any chronic conditions) by staying away if you’re unwell. We have to work together to stop the spread of this virus.

14.01.2022 At this stage of our HealthHUB planning, it is timely to acknowledge the important contribution of UTS: University of Technology Sydney and Dr Chris Lawrence. ... Dr Chris and UTS have been incredible advocates for this project from the very begining. UTS will play an imperative role in this space, weaving and implementing the most innovative and emerging technologies throughout the entire HUB facility. Technology is a major focus so we can harness and capture data to represent the Aboriginal populations in research initiatives to assist in Closing the Gap. Please help us to thank UTS and Dr Chris for their continuing support and partnership in our SWAMS HeathHUB.

13.01.2022 Today, along with some of my colleagues participated in the Reconciliation Week Bridge Walk 2020 across the Koombana Bay Bridge.
