24.01.2022 Today we were raising awareness for suicide prevention at the white ribbon round at Port Noarlunga Football Club. Sadly far too many people take the life of their young children and themselves as a way to terrorise they partner or ex partner. We are seeing this far too often in the media. #stopviolenceagainstwoman #suicideprvention

20.01.2022 It is with our deepest regret that the Onkaparinga Seaside Walk will be cancelled for 2020. I have been advised by SA Health and the Covid Hotline to cancel thi...s event due to the current situation in Victoria and increasing cases in SA. It is of the opinion of the covid hotline that we may be hit with a second wave and to ensure safety in our community, all gatherings are being discouraged. We are saddened by this outcome but hope to be back, bigger and better in 2021. Thank you for the ongoing support in our community. Lets Talk Onkaparinga Suicide Prevention Network encourage you to follow their page and stay up to date on current issues and advice. Often we jump in and offer resolutions but if we sit back and LISTEN and really hear what the person has to say, they will feel heard and supported. ... #ruokday2020

02.01.2022 International Men’s Day encourages men to teach the boys in their lives the values, character and responsibilities of being a man. Mahatma Gandhi said, We must become the change we seek. It is only when we all, both men and women, lead by example that we will create a fair and safe society which allows everyone the opportunity to prosper. With male suicide far higher than female, we encourage men to reach out, talk up and promote life.

It occurs when a persons pain exceeds their resources to cope. Here at LTO we want to create opportunities for people to manage and cope with those feelings and for family/friends to be able to assist with coping skills when needed. ... Our action plan includes ongoing Mental Health First Aid and other training opportunities.
