25.01.2022 It's been a while since 4he shop was empty for the weekend but with no sleepovers from last week, a new game starts today :)

25.01.2022 We have made changes to how we interact with customers and cleaning before and after work being carried out on your vehicle. We want to be able to stay operating and providing services to our customers as long as possible throughout this situation. If you are not feeling well, are required to be in isolation or have been in contact with someone in isolation please please do the right thing and stay at home.... If you do need repairs or maintenance carried out, but are in isolation, please call us to discuss options available.

24.01.2022 2 days of training on a rainy weekend followed by a quick check of the workshop to make sure it's dry inside (and it sure is at this point but the tide is rising...). A little traffic control and educational remarks to local drivers and a visit from police who allowed us to close the road. Please don't drive through flood waters. If you HAVE to get through remember to take it slow and easy - driving at speed and showing off how big you can splash creates more flooding for residents and businesses.

23.01.2022 Hey team. Just wanted to ask my network who is out of work as a result of this virus and business closures. Friends, family and customers or those that you are close with. The situation changes daily at the moment and some businesses will be closed longer than others. During the times I am open and trading as close to normal as possible I would like to help. I may have some casual work I can share - nothing exciting, just general cleaning, etc. but maybe enough to help out so...me food on the table or pay some bills. 21.01.2022 Would you be interested in an affordable roadside assistance option with your vehicle servicing? What would you be prepared to spend for this in addition to your service? The way it would work is at each service, a fee would be payable to renew your roadside assistance for 6 or 12 months depending on your vehicles service interval. The only catch is they limit it to 2 call outs per period (6 or 12 months) but the cover would be under $50 per year. This is something we would consider offering through a 3rd party. The comparable cover through NRMA would cost $110 per year plus a joining fee of $55.

10.01.2022 Did you know we can customise a solution to meet your requirements?? This client came to us wanting a second reverse camera fitted to his vehicle AND an override switch to activate it. He was happy with his current camera as a parking aid but with limited visibility out the back he wanted something to help keep an eye on traffic and stay safe while driving. With only ONE video input on the old multimedia unit and the old camera already using it we had to come up with a soluti...on. Another hurdle to cross was some off-book wiring techniques carried out by the first installer. So we supplied and mounted a second camera, ran the wiring up to the multimedia unit and got to work. We installed an override switch and a video signal splitter (basically a double adaptor). Then we installed a one-way diode so when the override switch is used to bring on the camera the reverse lights are not. Best yet, we installed a second switch to swap between video feeds running through the splitter into the one input. In short, there are now 2 cameras. Activated by selecting reverse OR the camera switch and switchable using the toggle switch. Check the video in the comments to see how it works :) Maybe there's something we can do for you that others haven't been able to!!

10.01.2022 Getting Sporty at Let's Torque Automotive is no problem, no matter the vintage. Here we have a 1984 Honda Prelude with stopping issues and a 2009 AMG with drive problems. The Honda suffered a leaking brake master cylinder which has ruined the vacuum brake booster. Pulled out the master and booster, sent the booster away for repair and refitted along with a new master cylinder. Bled the brakes and she's stopping on a dime.... The AMG has suffered a little wear and tear and maybe a little hard love. The splines on one of the cv joints have stripped so the shaft is spinning in the joint - See the video in the comments if you're interested. Replaced the shaft and she goes like a racehorse once again!!

Luckily, we then had the opportunity to quote on the same repairs and came in at least $500 under their price. Still using only genuine parts. Still completing the same job.... We'll never sacrifice the quality of our workmanship or parts for a cheaper price but if you're looking for quality combined with value for money, you'll certainly find that with us. We have a wide network of high quality suppliers. We're often able to get genuine European parts through the importers instead of the dealers - saving you money. 08.01.2022 And that's a wrap... Last job out the door and I'm left with a clear workshop before heading to Melbourne tomorrow for the Australian Auto Aftermarket Expo. I'll be meeting with suppliers and attending seminars to be able to grow my business and provide greater service to you and your vehicles.... A massive shout out to a few customers that allowed me to shuffle their bookings at the last minute so I could head down to attend this expo. Thankyou! I'll be back at it Monday morning :-)

07.01.2022 All makes. All models. New or old... We had a bit of a Merc day this week and the little A45 AMG pocket rocket was in for new brakes. Becoming more and more common across all makes, rear brakes require diagnostic eqiupment to put the Electronic Park Brake into service mode before carrying out work and then resetting upon completion.... We can take care of your vehicle, using the best parts and top techn to get the job done right.

05.01.2022 The little things make the biggest difference... The first photo looks like a noise to me. Yep, you heard me right. These are the brake pads out of my own car. When I bought it, there was an annoying rattle coming from the front wheels. A previous repairer has done a poor job of renewing the brakes in this case, leaving metal on metal contact which has caused a noise and vibration.... When we see rusty friction marks like this, even without driving a vehicle we can see that it would create frustrating noises. As part of our standard brake service, we apply anti-seize paste where there is metal on metal contact - Providing smooth, quiet operation. We like to do the job once, because we do it right the first time.

03.01.2022 Looking forward to hooking into a big one next week on a tidy Troopy. New clutch, wheel bearings, greasable shackles and some other maintenance in preparation for an upcoming trip into the wild. Go with confidence :)

01.01.2022 Did you know we can supply and install a range of accessories to suit a wide range of needs??? This client wanted to replace his faulty Bluetooth hands-free kit as well as fit a reverse camera and screen. I suggested that instead of using one of our monitors that mount on the dash or over the rear-view mirror we take advantage of this multimedia unit which replaces the original stereo.... With a HD touch screen and built in Bluetooth, this unit bundled all his requirements in nicely. These units also have 2 USB inputs and incorporate Apple CarPlay and Android Auto which means you can take advantage of many helpful apps like Google Maps for navigation. Keep an eye out for our next post with a tricky little reverse camera setup!!

01.01.2022 Working from home today and drying the house out. I had put together some promotional material after our visit to the shop yesterday (pictured) thinking we'd make the move to marine maintenance but apparently the water has subsided. Open as usual from tomorrow ;-)
