25.01.2022 Trains have been back up and running over the new 2.5-kilometre elevated rail bridge on the Upfield line for a week now. Bell Street, Munro Street and Reynard Street in Coburg and Moreland Road in Brunswick are now level crossing free, bringing our total up to 43! Work continues on finishing Coburg and Moreland stations by mid December and we'll soon start on the new community open space.... 25.01.2022 Works will take place this weekend as we prepare for the removal of five level crossings in Edithvale, Chelsea and Bonbeach. Buses will replace trains between Mordialloc and Frankston from 9.20pm Friday 14 August to last service Sunday 16 August, while these works take place. Construction on the Edithvale, Chelsea and Bonbeach level crossing removal projects will continue under Stage 4 restrictions with a reduced workforce and strict safety protocols in place. ... 25.01.2022 We recently started to install the pre-assembled underpass beneath the rail line at Cherry Street, which will safely connect pedestrians and cyclists to homes and local shops. We will soon turn our attention towards installing the underpass retaining walls and ramp entrances on both sides of the rail line. During this time there will be pedestrian detours in place on Cherry Street. Read more information on the detour bit.ly/CherryStDetour... 24.01.2022 Look! Up in the Sky! Its the Mentone Station heritage building being repositioned! Now that the new Mentone Station is open, the old building has been placed in its new location on the Mentone Heritage Deck. Set to be refurbished, we will have more information to share soon about the future use of the buildings. ... Landscaping works are continuing on the deck and station precinct, which will be completed by early 2021.

23.01.2022 Our major works to remove the level crossing at South Gippsland Highway are really rocking along Two abutment walls, reinforced with over 50 tonnes of steel, will be filled with more than 600 cubic metres of concrete to support the new road bridge beams. Up next, 750 retaining wall panels will be lifted into place, as the new bridge starts to take shape.... 23.01.2022 The countdown is on at Cardinia Road, Pakenham with just weeks until the new road bridge opens to traffic. Tonight marks the start of a full Cardinia Road closure from 9pm Friday 20 November to 5am Monday 7 December. We promise it will be worth it once these works are complete, the new Cardinia Road will open bridge two months ahead of schedule, with the level crossing gone for good in early December.... 22.01.2022 Up and up and up - 60 beams in under a month! The last pre-cast concrete beam has been lifted into place to form the new rail bridge over Werribee Street, Werribee. Over the coming weeks, we'll use concrete to 'stitch' the beams together as works continue to remove the level crossing by 2022.

22.01.2022 Works are progressing in Edithvale, Chelsea and Bonbeach. Earlier this month we worked around the clock to relocate and install utilities and underground services and construct safety fencing in preparation for the removal of a further five level crossings on the Frankston line. Works will ramp up over the next month, with a week-long rail closure in September to get ready for piling rigs to arrive on site later in the year. ... 20.01.2022 Carrum’s new foreshore park is now open for locals to enjoy just in time for summer! The park has a water play area, BBQ’s, seating and a lush, green, grassed area the perfect place for a socially-distanced picnic. 19.01.2022 It's been a busy month on our Cranbourne Line Upgrade project, with our teams achieving two major project milestones Major construction has kicked off at Greens Road, and we're ready to start piling works near the level crossing. At Abbotts Road, piling for the duplicate rail bridge is now complete - ahead of schedule ... The team is now working on raising the first bridge columns, known as piers, which will be installed throughout October.

18.01.2022 Last week we worked around the clock to prepare Edithvale, Chelsea and Bonbeach for major construction, set to start later this month. We relocated underground utilities in the area including gas, water and sewer lines, and upgraded power and signalling cables. The first of our piling rigs will soon land on site, with piling works to happen through to mid 2021.... The Lochiel Avenue level crossing remains closed to vehicles until Saturday 19 September. Brunswick Industries has been a leading local employer of people with a disability for over 50 years. Their dedicated team of workers assist in the production of 8,000 litres of product each day.... The Bell to Moreland project is removing four dangerous and congested level crossings by elevating 2.5km of rail, building two new stations and delivering almost 2 MCG’s worth of community open space.

16.01.2022 You cant miss the bright orange rubber tyre gantry cranes that were recently installed in Coburg for our biggest ever level crossing removal blitz Standing at 18 metres in height and 17 metres wide, the gantry cranes will lift the 268 concrete segments (also known as L-beams) in place to form the new elevated rail line These cranes are unique to our project due to the large rubber tyres - each wheel is 2.56 metres tall! The wheels assist the crane to move through the narrow rail corridor with minimum disruption

Once all the L-beams have been installed we will start laying the track and ballast within the 2.5km of elevated rail

16.01.2022 Glen Huntly, you’ve been fast-tracked Works to remove the two dangerous and congested level crossings at Neerim and Glen Huntly roads and build a new Glenhuntly Station are set to begin next year We’ll remove the level crossings by building a rail trench, targeting boom gate removal in 2023 with works completed in 2024, a year ahead of schedule

15.01.2022 Manchester Road, Mooroolbark will be closed at the level crossing in both directions from 7pm Saturday 17 October to 7am Monday 19 October. We’ll be digging 100 metres of trenches for new rail cabling and relocating power poles in preparation for major construction to begin at the end of the year. 15.01.2022 Good news, Hallam! We've kicked off works to remove the level crossing at Hallam Road We’ve started setting up temporary site offices, installed fencing and begun earthworks.... 15.01.2022 Its all systems go in Coburg and Brunswick Weve installed more than L-beams since the first beam was placed on Thursday 13 August. There will be a total of 268 L-beams used on the Bell to Moreland project. These L-beams will form the innovative U-trough design, creating 2.5 kilometres of elevated rail line to separate trains from drivers, pedestrians and cyclists in the area ... 15.01.2022 BIG news for Brunswick and Coburg locals - The new Coburg and Moreland stations will open to passengers on Monday 14 December. In January, we'll begin planting 3000 trees and shrubs and more than 130,000 grasses and seedlings in the open space under the rail. ... We'll also start work on the new open space features including playgrounds, a dog park and exercise equipment for the whole community, to be completed mid 2021. 12.01.2022 They may not be the Eiffel Tower, but the cranes that lifted the bridge beams at Werribee Street are still pretty impressive These cranes lifted 60 locally pre-cast concrete beams, weighing up to 130 tonnes each, into place in under a month The beams will support the new one-kilometre rail bridge that will remove the level crossing at Werribee Street, Werribee.

12.01.2022 The Mentone Heritage Deck and Gardens are really taking shape. The team recently returned the famous Garryowen Horse Trough, which commemorates the 1934 tragedy when local equestrienne, Violet Murrell, and her husband Bill lost their lives rescuing their beloved horses from a fire in their Latrobe Street stable. Refurbishment of the old heritage station buildings is also underway, with teams carefully restoring parts of the old weatherboards and roofing. ... Paving for the deck and gardens is almost complete and landscaping has begun. The footpath on the south side of Balcombe Road is now open to pedestrians, as are the bus bays and station carpark on Como Parade West.

11.01.2022 A five-day construction blitz took place last week as part of our Cranbourne Line Upgrade project. Heres what we got up to: Crews carried out critical works including the installation and testing of underground cabling, earthworks and piling, and overhead wiring works. ... We also relocated the Greens Road boom gates so we can accommodate the new 600m rail bridge were building over the rail line. Works also ramped up at Merinda Park Station, which including piling for the new station platform and installation of structural steel. 11.01.2022 Works have zoomed along at Cardinia Road, Pakenham with the new road bridge now set to open in December months ahead of schedule. During a two-week construction blitz in December, crews will work around the clock to get the new bridge ready for traffic by connecting the existing Cardinia Road to the bridge, laying asphalt, completing line-marking and installing signage. 10.01.2022 Things are starting to look a bit different at Werribee Street We've now been working around the clock for more than 60 days as part of our major works to remove the level crossing at Werribee Street The new temporary freight track has been installed and we’re continuing to install the foundations of the new rail bridge.... 08.01.2022 Works are ramping on our Manchester Road, Mooroolbark and Maroondah Highway, Lilydale level crossing removal projects. While the Lilydale line was shut last weekend, crews worked around the clock to install delineation fencing and other works. The project will see the rail line elevated and two new stations built at Lilydale and Mooroolbark.... A new multi-deck car park will also be built at Mooroolbark Station. 08.01.2022 Glenroy, do you dig it? Early works are well under way to remove the Glenroy Road level crossing, including micro tunnelling works along Waterloo Road. We’ll soon lower a tunnel boring machine into this entry shaft to dig a 370m long tunnel underground, which will house drainage pipes for the new Glenroy Station.... Major construction to lower the rail line under Glenroy Road and deliver a new Glenroy Station will begin next year.

07.01.2022 How many L-beams does it take to make 2.5km of elevated rail? 268! All the bridge beams are now in place on the Bell to Moreland project. On average, it took the team less than two hours to install each beam!... Watch the works unfold before your eyes.

07.01.2022 Williamstown, the wait is over check out the North Williamstown Station designs We heard that the community wanted the station to reflect the local area so we’ve made sure the design has plenty of garden spaces, red brick and bluestone Well-placed paths, stairs, ramps and lifts will make this an easy station to get around. There’ll also be a new signalised pedestrian crossing at Ferguson Street to help locals cross safely... Construction at Ferguson Street will start in early 2021 and the level crossing will be gone for good in 2022.

07.01.2022 Progress this way! We're installing 674 concrete retaining wall panels at our South Gippsland Highway site, all made by a family run business in Sale. These panels will hold more than 50 Olympic-sized swimming pools worth of soil to help us form the new road bridge in Dandenong South, and remove the level crossing for good.

05.01.2022 Early works at Preston have kicked off as we prepare to remove four level crossings and build two new stations at Bell and Preston. This week we'll be testing the soil so we can understand the ground conditions before we build the elevated rail. 05.01.2022 Works are about to get hoppin' at Hoppers Crossing. The Hoppers Crossing Station car park will close from Thursday 5 November until mid 2022 so works can progress on removing the Old Geelong Road level crossing. The closure will allow us to prepare the foundations to support the new pedestrian overpass.... A temporary commuter car park with more than 400 spaces will be available on the opposite side of Princes Highway, off Hoppers Lane. Accessible car spaces at Hoppers Crossing Station will remain. 04.01.2022 Piles of action has been happening on our Edithvale, Chelsea and Bonbeach projects. We’ve been piling away in Edithvale and Chelsea with almost 600 of the 4500 retaining wall sheet piles completed. The largest sheet piling rig on site is a huge 33 metres tall and weighs 114 tonnes that's about the same weight as a blue whale ... We’ll also construct approximately 450 bridge abutment piles along the rail corridor to help support the connections over the rail line. We are removing five dangerous and congested level crossings in Edithvale, Chelsea and Bonbeach by lowering the rail line into trenches, and building three new stations.

03.01.2022 A week ago we opened the road bridge at Evans Road and removed our 39th level crossing Evans Road was closed to Lyndhurst and Lynbrook residents, who were faced with a ‘You Shall Not Pass ’ at the level crossing for 15 years. 03.01.2022 Heard the latest news on our Bell to Moreland project? Our biggest ever level crossing removal blitz is on track to finish two weeks early, with trains running on the new Upfield elevated rail line from Monday 2 November. Buses will replace trains between North Melbourne and Upfield stations from Monday 26 October to Sunday 1 November.... Trains will run express through Coburg and Moreland stations from Monday 2 November to mid-December, while works continue on the station buildings. 03.01.2022 Carrums looking pretty cool All station facilities are now open, including the main station entrance and the first of two all-day commuter car parks The first of Carrums new community open spaces are also open, including the new village green across from the stations main entrance ... The community can now enjoy improved connections to public transport, shops and the beach with the new shared use path from Mascot Avenue to Eel Race Road open The walking and cycling underpass at Eel Race Road is also complete, featuring artwork by local Indigenous artists We thank Carrum locals for their patience as revitalisation works continue and look forward to seeing the community make full use of the station precinct once Stay at Home restrictions are lifted.

02.01.2022 Last Friday, Metro Trains essential station staff safely met at Coburg to celebrate the stations history before it closed to the public, with the last train passing through on Monday night. Coburg Station opened on Tuesday 9 September 1884 and has serviced the community for almost 136 years. The new Coburg Station will open in mid December and the historical station building will be incorporated into the design....
