23.01.2022 It’s that time comrades.... 74 of the faithful have gotten on the bus at Fraser Street and are locked in for the long haul down at the end of Homer St, called Earlwood Hotel Elvis should have Written a song about that... Anyway.....last call for all to get aboard the Venga bus. We now have Bousamra, Pezzano, restuccia, Gambacorta....heaven on a stick. I’m paying the Club on Monday so, share the love one last time and get your mates to release the coins... no free bus pass to this gig. Let’s find another ten.... Thanks team.

19.01.2022 Just checking in on all of you to make sure you're all staying the fuck at home, or wherever you need to be so you don't spread this shit. BECAUSE.................... I don't want to have to reschedule this event one more time ! So far so good. Everyone in Australia with the exception of the weirdos in Mexico (Victoria) seems to be on board and desperate for a drink and a get together.... 16.01.2022 Righto fellow COVID haters......... FML .......... Thanks for your patience awaiting a further update about when our get together will happen. Trust me, when it does it will be big as I think we will all need the beers. At this stage, I am awaiting old mate Scomo's statement on Friday where he is "supposed" to be putting a timeline out, advising when things may start returning to some kind of normality.... Realistically, I think June 5 is too soon for a 90 person event to happen - but I am a patient man (can't believe I said that) and am prepared to get the official mail. That being the case, I will coordinate with the Venue to try and put into place a date sometime in August/September. But let's see how Friday pans out and I will then email everyone with the latest update Thanks in advance - not sure if I am more pissed off about the situation with my business or the status of our event ! #fuckcorona

11.01.2022 The Countdown is on - not the Molly Meldrum one at 6:00pm on Sunday nights - to the best Event of Friday 27 March at Club York! People are now climbing over each other to get a ticket to this night of nights.....last minute hysteria akin to a Bay City Rollers Show has dragged a few old fellas to this night, like moths to a flame, or shit to a blanket. Welcome aboard Tony Johnstone, the GREAT MAN Bill Beenke and tonight I finally managed to track down and hog tie the evasive... Greg McGrath, who will be attending his first reunion (I think). I have a couple of other irons in the fire and hope to snare one or two more big names in the next day or so...stand by So we have 80 paid attendees now - 79 that I can identify and one mystery person who paid with no identification.... God, I hope it’s Amin Boustany....we can only hope.

11.01.2022 Rightio - Well................. As expected good old "Bat Flu" has flown into our territory and caused some minor disruption to our plans........ (sarcasm?) Unfortunately August 14 is now postponed to a date to be confirmed. ... Realistically Late September or October are our new options. We have priority over other bookings at the venue, so as soon as the Club gets the all clear we will be back in the saddle. Take care y'all

11.01.2022 A positive update today - 7 May - following yesterdays' update After lengthy discussions with the Venue Management, we have agreed on a new date of 14 August, 2020 to hold our reunion. The room we are booked into is sufficiently large to cater for our number with no issues re social distancing restrictions even if the event was held today.... Of course these restrictions will be lifted in coming weeks. The Club is of the firm belief they will be open well and truly before this date. Like anything at this crazy time, this date could potentially need to be changed again, however as a starting point, please put this in your diaries or whatever you use and lock it in. Same Bat Time - Same Bat Place........ maybe too soon ? Whatever Laters gents

08.01.2022 As the Great Man Peter Garrett said.............. Ok - this was the email I didn't really want to send. And the email that I didn't think I would have to send - until the world went "Bat $h1t" crazy - literally.... I did have 2 people question whether we would be proceeding prior to last night.... Until 7:00pm we were going full steam ahead with the reunion next Friday night. I had an email confirming everything was fine and in place from the venue just yesterday morning. Until......... Our beloved PM today has taken that opportunity away from us, with his intervention resolving to close restaurants, pubs, clubs, and any other meeting place for 30 days. I just hope the economic repercussions in the hospitality (and Travel) Industry are recognised and appropriately compensated - if that's even possible. So - a quarry of emails (is that a thing?) this morning and a couple of phone calls with the Venue Manager has now determined that we cannot proceed next week. After much consideration and negotiation, they are very amenable to us changing our date and transferring our payment to that new event date. They will also honour the considerable discount they have in place. So - the next available Friday night (within reason) is FRIDAY 5th JUNE I have locked that in with the venue. Given it is more than 2 months in advance, firstly this crazy "thing" circling the world will be all but a memory Secondly, it should give everyone enough notice to be able to attend. We have spent way too long arranging this event - and I have no intention of cancelling (and potentially losing all our money). Besides, I know that you are all keen to do this for all the right reasons. So - it's a (new) date ! Lock it in. And I honestly hope that you understand, and are all able to attend - by then I think we will all need a drink. If you absolutely cannot attend - please revisit your reasons and make plans work so you can ! Otherwise let me know if you cannot, and I will see if I can get a refund from the venue (unlikely to be honest). Thanks for understanding. 07.01.2022 We are on the home stretch - I am losing energy sending a fifty emails and sms a week with no responses... Currently have 68 faithful paid up comrades. 32 not responding. ... Maybe they are waiting for a last minute discount, or a better option? Like tidying up their undies draw? Anyway thanks to all who’ve paid up And to those who haven’t - let the moths out and pay by 29 February or you’ll have to attend the Petersham girls high reunion that they are holding in a phone box on Livingstone road ! Remember when the worst things that could happen were getting Vince Kenny's strap (that Lewisham Mythology suggests had a layer of clay running through it), or being asked to rearrange the sports equipment room with Br. Leisha? Well, I reckon 2020 tops that.... I am in constant contact with the Venue and they continue to assure me that as soon as the sitting v standing restrictions are lifted we are ready to rock. Having said that, at the moment Ettalong RSL could be your dream holiday for a while so lifting/easing restrictions needs to happen. Soon. I haven't forgotten you all........

04.01.2022 Okydoky - Old Mate Scotty from Marketing has just announced that the 40th Reunion of the CBHS Lewisham 1980 HSC and 1978 SC Classes is clear for take off ! Took me a few emails to him to get this over the line......... "It is our goal to move through all of these steps to achieve that COVID-safe economy in July of this year." "Step three, the final step, will see people return to workplaces and gatherings of up to 100 people allowed and pubs to reopen."... Let's go August 14 ! - Yallah !
