23.01.2022 At the end of this months theme we discuss what constitutes a great leader. Let us know what determines a great leader for you!

23.01.2022 Happy Monday! This past week weve done a lot of Zoom meetings with clients just listening. Listening to their core concerns for themselves and for others during this time of COVID. The beauty of just listening opens up spaces of possibility not only for yourself as you learn and engage in anothers history, education and experience but also for those that are speaking. Its a space where they are really heard.... Its human nature to be heard and we all love to take that space ourselves yet have we taken time to hear others? When was the last time you really heard someone? #listening #hearme #beheard #possibilities #creatingspaces #covid

22.01.2022 Starting a wellbeing conversation doesnt have to feel like you are prying into someones life. It can start off with a simple observation of Hey lve noticed that you dont usually xyz is everything ok? or Hey Ive noticed that xyz is happening is everything ok? This can soften what feels like a difficult conversation for you and the other person. What are you noticing in someone else that you can start a conversation to check in their wellbeing? ... #wellbeingconversations #wellbeing #care #others #conversationstarters #checkin #leadership #leadershipdevelopment #liberatedleaders

21.01.2022 How to have effective Wellbeing Conversations Step 1. "Become a great observer of the people you work with" This can be a good lead in. You might start with that observation, and offer the observation tentatively. hey, Ive noticed that youve stopped using your camera for our Zoom meetings or In the past few weekly meetings, I have noticed you havent spoken much... If you have not noticed anything is different, and still want to have a check in chat, start with general questions like how are you doing? and how are you coping with the changed working arrangements or how are things going working from home? These general questions can help open up a space where the other person does not feel youre prying, since theyre quite generic. Now that you are aware of some differences, what is something you are noticing within your team that could be good conversation starter for Wellbeing? . . . . . #wellbeingconversations #differences #leadership #leaders #leadershipconversations #conversations #healthandwellbeing #mentalhealthtips #change

21.01.2022 Tony chats with Fabienne Costa about her transformation of making requests since being a part of our program. We love it when our community is continually evolving and expanding their world just by the simple requests that are made every day!

21.01.2022 As a leader we can be blind to the way that we show up to others and our teams. Especially if we are under pressure to perform or do more in a work day due to disruptions to our work routines. Now that the majority of meetings are online this is revealed through the way we show up on camera. Take a look at this graphic to see how you might be showing up and how you perceive others are showing up in your team.... What one thing might you be able to shift or change for the sake of collaborating better in a time of COVID? . . . . . #zoom #onlinemeetings #leaders #leadership #whichleaderareyou #liberatedleaders #googlemeet #zoommeetings

20.01.2022 How to have effective Wellbeing Conversations Step 2. "Listen!" Listen to what they say, how they say it and see if you notice anything about the way they share that indicates theyre going well, or perhaps that somethings not going well! It can be helpful to paraphrase, so they know youre truly listening and that youve understood what theyre sharing! Spend more time listening than speaking at this point. You might even ask some clarifying questions if things are unclear ...for you, just so you understand. . . . . . . #listen #wellbeing #wellbeingconversations #healthandwellbeing #liberatedleaders #leadership #leaders #teamleaders #managers #worldchangers #healthyconversations #leadershiptips #leadershiplessons #covid See more

20.01.2022 Trying to outrun Covid? Why not instead, try accepting the uncertainty of this time? We understand this can be difficult to do, if we have always had some kind of certainty in the past. The mood of acceptance does not mean we need to like whats happening, but it does mean we stop opposing those things that we cannot change.... This helps us navigate these times. . . . . . #quoteoftheday #instagramquotes #navigation #newfuture #hope #moods #mood #leaders #leadership #liberatedleaders #compass #direction #leading #entrepreneurs #challenges

19.01.2022 What is your mood around a new future? Are you inspired or are you afraid? We can live in assessments that there is no hope for the future, its overwhelming and therefore that becomes our reality. But what if we lived in a mood of possibility, where the future is anything we desire it to be? This might be a simple shift or it might take a while, but its still an accessible shift in your mindset and mood for a new future that YOU can create. We appreciate Tony because he lea...ds our Mood check-ins daily. He helps us shift our perspective into possibility. We as a team can start the day with ungrounded negative assessments and Tony sees that and uses it as a possibility to shift us to focus on something greater. He has a natural ability to sense the mood in a room and lead others to elevate their perspective. Regardless of what your current mood is now about the future, what mood do YOU want to have? . . . . . #mood #liberatedleaders #possibility #possibilities #covid #leadership #leaders #hope #smile #businessowners #businesscoaching #lifecoaching #leadershipcoaching

19.01.2022 So many possibilities can come from positive narratives - we are living proof as today we are just starting our fifth Foundations Program! When we thought we were collapsing we instead chose a positive narrative to live in and rose!

19.01.2022 In one of our conversations, it was this meme that caught our attention. An Earthquake hitting Mexico, people dashing to the streets and gathering outside before an untimely sneeze in the crowd, which forced another panicked run for safety in shelter. The non-sense of this time. Its probably easier to turn off, tune out and thank our lucky stars we live here. Its probably easier to distance ourselves, invest in the old Australian narrative that shell be right, mate ...and move on with life as usual whilst all that happens over there. But that has us fall into an old complacency being citizens of Australia with a parochial lens, rather than citizens of the world with an Australian voice. 18.01.2022 How to have effective Wellbeing Conversations Step 1. "Establish a time to check back in." This can be a really critical step to helping that person take action based on their own ideas. You might say something like Ill call you in a couple of days to see what youve been able to find or Im looking forward to hearing how x goes for you. It can also be helpful if theyre a close person to offer hey, please reach out if you need someone to listen. .... . . . . #liberatedleaders #leadership #wellbeingconversations #healthandwellbeing #teamleader #managers #healthyconversations #checkin #worldchangers #covid #leadershiptips See more

18.01.2022 How to have effective Wellbeing Conversations Step 3. "Help them self-solve." Most of us are not counsellors and thats not the purpose of this conversation. The purpose is to open up a space of safety and care to allow the other person to share, and this step is all about helping that person self-solve, identify some ways forward or above all, find the appropriate person to speak with. You might ask is there someone youve been speaking with about this? or do you have acc...ess to a counsellor or EAP (Employee Assistance Program) service? or have you had a chat with your GP about this? and are there any strategies you can think of to help you navigate (insert the concern)? Again, the idea here is NOT to solve whats going on for them, but to help the other person identify their own options and commit to taking a step forward. Providing advice can be far less helpful since it takes away the other persons self-solving capacity. If, however you have a grave concern, you might steer them towards professional services like Beyond Blue, Lifeline and Headspace. . . . . . . #liberatedleaders #wellbeingconversations #healthandwellbeing #mentalhealth #healthyconversations #leadership #leaders #teamleaders #managers #beyondblue #lifeline #headspace #worldchangers

14.01.2022 How can you get back in the game? This month we are giving away the secrets to YOUR new future! Stay tuned!

14.01.2022 As human beings we live in stories. We are born into narratives that help us make sense of our lives, our purpose and what life is all about. If we asked you to write a story about whats happening in this time of COVID, would it be more positive or negative? Would you adopt an optimistic stance about whats happening and your hope for the future, or would it be more negative in nature and focused on whats missing and whats not working? If you find yourself more in the ne...gative domain, the good news is that this is something you can change. Because you are the generator of your story or narrative, you get to question it, reflect on how the quality of your narrative has been playing out in your life and above all, you get to change it. . . . . . #postitive #positivestories #positivenarratives #leaderships #leaders #liberatedleaders #mentalhealth #healthandwellbeing #resilienceandwellbeing #resilience See more

14.01.2022 Within Liberated Leaders, in order to Mobilise a New Future, we have had to really listen to what is going on within businesses, teams, leaders and people themselves. We have had to shift with the market and learn to be resilient, learn to face an unknown future and accept that. At one point we couldnt even plan for a week ahead, as everything was changing that quickly. We would start a project then scrap it and start a new one the very next week. So what did we learn? That... our future had to shift. We couldnt rely on a 12-month plan anymore, so instead we opened up the space and ran complimentary Open Room Coaching once a week to our graduates, just to listen. Since then possibilities have arisen and taken a new shape within Liberated Leaders. Have you created space just to listen to what a new future could be for you? . . . . . #listen #space #newfuture #liberatedleaders #entreprenuers #businessowners #zoom #covid #postcovid #leadership #leaders #teamleaders #managers #coaching #businesscoaching #businessleadership

What can you do with your team to strategise and energise together?

14.01.2022 So Tony and Paula went for a walk in the beautiful hinterlands of SE Queensland and I made a request that on their walk they take a photo that represents the beauty of their environment on their phone in portrait mode, by 1pm and in high res. 13.01.2022 The quality of your story impacts and generates your mood. Some moods and emotions open you towards innovation, opportunity and action and others have the opposite effect, seeming to close things off. For example, the mood of ACCEPTANCE has you be able to work with whats happening in your outside world, whereas the mood of RESENTMENT has you opposing or fighting whats happening, feeling frustrated about not being able to influence whats happening. ... 13.01.2022 As Liberated Leaders we are always learning, unlearning and re-learning. In this current time we have had to learn to shift by switching all our face-to-face events/ facilitations to online via Zoom. We are not perfect and have had some technical failures - this is inevitable. But our goal is to be continual learners and to always show up the best that we can. We try and mix things up by doing energisers to connect back with our bodies. At one point we did the N...ut Bush in our all day Leadership Program and everyone loved it, even if they werent the best dancers. We use breakout rooms where clients can have private conversations just as if you were talking one on one in a room. We use a live whiteboard and give video presentations instead of draining them with as Paula says "death by PowerPoint". There are always new ways to reinvent and that is our goal. . . . . . #leadership #zoom #onlinemeetings #nutbush #leaders #liberatedleaders #facilitation #reinventing #testimonial #quotes

12.01.2022 Reading a diversity of texts will help you make better sense of our emerging world. It can help to blend reading from authors of different nationalities, different concerns, different lives. It can help to read provocative texts, listen to voices you would not otherwise ‘tune in to’ and to begin broadening your view of what it is to live in a global village. This will likely bring up your biases and prejudice, offering you the chance to confront and address these as both lim...itations and possibilities. How would it be for you to develop your identity as someone who can ‘facilitate and listen to’ diverse views, embracing those views that challenge yours as equally valid. 10.01.2022 When having wellbeing conversations, the aim is not solve someones situation but rather ask them questions and guide them to their own resolution. Their own choices will bring their own change. #wellbeingconversations

10.01.2022 So, the challenge we make is this we are asking you to engage and theres a particular way we have learned to do this that lands in acceptance and possibility. These are the hallmarks of the Liberated Leader. Here are 3 ways to engage: 1. Read Widely and Educate Yourself... The temptation may be to read the streams youve always read and to rely on these as your window to the world. We start with the premise that we are global citizens and as such, need to tune into global voices for the sake of expanding our view. Credible sources from multiple continents. It can be helpful to withhold from reading voices as facts but as another insight that helps you form your unique view. What voices will you tune into over the coming months to expand your perspective? 2. Broaden Your Conversation Circle Through conversations we invent new worlds together. If youre conversing with people just like you, your world can shrink pretty quickly. Invest time in building communities beyond the familiar places of dialogue. We do this by being involved in conversations in different industries. We do this by making sure we engage the views of younger and older people. How will you do broaden your conversation circle? 3. Learn About and Cultivate a Constructive Mood! If your narrative is hopeless and helpless, the moods of resignation and depression are surely not far away. Moods are like mirrors that reflect the narrative you construct and live in, both consciously and unconsciously. Being aware of such a narrative, and being able to construct a different perspective, opens the possibility for more helpful moods like acceptance, ambition, gratitude and wonder. What mood do you want to generate to engage others? 08.01.2022 NEWS FLASH! We just found out about the QLD border closing - we are currently in Sydney but live in QLD. Watch how we chose to effectively respond.

07.01.2022 How can we as leaders help our people transition back to the workplace in a way that satisfies their needs AND delivers on business imperatives? During the past 12 months we have all learned something about ourselves and the way we want to work. Some of us were afforded the privilege of retaining full employment and many of us were offered the chance to undertake our roles from home. Others managed transitions in Operations, balancing shifts and staff loads and many of us we...re asked to ‘pick up’ unassigned work, perhaps that of colleagues who were moved on. For those of us who were moved on, we were required to rethink our entire game not just work, but life. As transition arrangements come in to place in Australian workplaces, and people are invited ‘back to work’, this month we’d like to share some orientations for leaders, shaped around the idea that this past 12 months has changed how we ‘see’ ourselves and the emerging future. Stay tuned as we help you anticipate your new ‘way’ of engaging your people, who have determined new ways they want to work. . . . . . #postcovid #leaders #leadership #WFH #teamleaders #entrepreneurs #businessowners #dreamteam #transition #workfromhome #homeoffice

05.01.2022 Why YOU need to be visible for your team. We are talking about you being in regular communication with your staff and staying in touch with them in support of their wellbeing. Now more than ever! Leader-led conversations are critical and one of the most important conversations is in support of wellbeing. Its tough, if not impossible to make a fair assessment of another persons wellbeing if youre not talking. If you have a remote working arrangement, even more important tha...t youre talking regularly. So try these tips! 1. Make sure you are talking with your team regularly about things besides your workflow. Do this by making a request to set aside some quality time for an informal check-in and make sure you do this for EVERYONE in your team. 2. You can start with some very general questions like How are things going? and How are you feeling about changed working arrangements? Youll get a sense (pretty quickly) about their mood and concerns. 3. Listen, Listen, Listen! The most important next step is to make sure you listen to what your colleagues have to share not to solve necessarily, but to make space and some time to have them share and feel heard! Sometimes being heard is enough. #leader #leadershipskills #listening

03.01.2022 You dont need to be a mental health practitioner to have an effective wellbeing conversation. You simply need to care, have a few questions to start, listen well and, if something does happen to come up, support that person to choose a next step. This month what we want to offer is an effective way to have a Wellbeing Conversation so that you and the other person feel comfortable to speak about whats happening for them and create a space where they can identify where the...yre at, express any concerns, share possible steps forward and make a commitment to action in the near future. 03.01.2022 As Covid-19 restrictions are slowly easing in Australia and people are heading back into offices, we are seeing a shift in peoples vision for their new future. More flexibility, more time for the important things in life like family, friends and just slowing down in general. Yet there is also anxiety of going back to the office, big crowds and stepping back into the rat race. In July we bring this new theme of Mobilising a New Future. We will evoke questions in you so you... can stop and create a space of possibility for yourself, your team, your business, your family and whatever it is around you, in order to create this new post Covid-19 life. We are so fortunate that we live in a land of possibilities. Let us never take that for granted and step into our new future. Or, instead of theres no chance well get through this, what if you said I wonder what ways we can get through this? When you try on new ways of interpreting whats happening, you can open possibilities in the future. Reinterpreting your story is a choice you can make any day and one of the most powerful moves you can make to begin shaping your future, building resilience and wellbeing. In this photo are leaders from our Masterclass 2020, who dont want to to just merely exist in this world but create pos...sibilities in the conversations around them. This Masterclass was right before Covid - yet the practices from the program propelled them into this unexpected season. 01.01.2022 The single most common discussion we have been asked to lead this year has been Wellbeing. We discovered that just a handful of the leaders we worked with had a sense of what this meant for them at the most personal level. Instead we encourage you to be proactive in shaping your family, friendship and other communities to support mental and physical health. What ...are the practices that sustain the brightest and best version of you? What investments do you make in your physical, social, emotional and mental wellbeing and how often do you make these investments?
